Great list! I would bypass on the sprayer. They are mostly for commercial but even there not absolutely neccessary. For ladders I would do just a 4 ft and a stair ladder . brushes I use 3 inch for walls. 2.5 or 2inch for doors and frames. . wire brush n spinner. But i usually wrap in plastic and clean at home.Sand paper cheaper to buy by the roll and use with pole. Get it from taper stores. A work light and extension cord. So many times dark rooms or closets, missing bulbs or no electricity or just not enough light .
Also, develop a relationship with your area or preferred paint supply store. See what brand/store you prefer. A good paint speciality store can offer referrals, pricing, and good service. See which one treats you the best and partner up. Don’t be a disrespectful or belligerent when you’re dealing with your vendors.
How have you made out your first year? Im doing the same rolling out slow. I got a different rig however, avanti max 821 from HF. Display item and an insane deal I couldn't pass up so this will get me up and moving to start
Really great video! I painted on and off as an employee in residential and commercial and you are spot on with everything! I decided to start my own business and as of now I'm looking to purchase a truck and equipment. Thank you for the video and helping others. I'm new to your channel and I'm hitting SUBSCRIBE. 👍🏽
Hey awesome. Thats great. Wish you the best of luck. I have an free estimating guide that helps quote jobs. Link in Description if you are interested. Check back in let us know how the journey is goin, and thank for the positive feedback and the Sub!
@@TymoPaints Thank you. Definitely I will watch it. Yes I will follow up as well. Also, I know you mentioned about what you started with. Do you have a video about getting your contractor license and/or your journey to get it?
you said the 5 in-one saves you money on paint. are you saying you buy the paint for your customers upfront? you don't charge the client upfront for the material?
I enjoyed the part at 2:30 where you were going over the buckets and you were like uh next on the uh bucket list? Like you were internally wrestling with the humor / pun and whether or not to say it 🤣
I bought starter kit at Walmart that comes with bucket. $25. I really looking at paint sprayers, graco vs harbor frieghts versión, looks like much better value
What's your thoughts on someone not necessarily starting there own painting business but someone who paints by themselves, would that be profitable? Me and my dad painted a few houses last year, just us two, and we always bid pretty low but we also made a recent profit as well. I'm thinking of going into painting full time, not hiring anybody to help. Would that be a bad idea or good?(We only advertised on Craigslist by the way)
I think go for it! I have a hard time trusting others to do a good job and so I like to work alone myself. If you get too busy you might want to hire someone tho
Very welcome. So i started out booking weekend jobs. Work 40 for the man. Then buikd up clientele. Once the potential to earn more than my 9to5 came along in the form of too ma y jobs and not enough weekends. I asked boss for a Large raise. He couldnt do it. So i lined up all my weekend jobs. And never looked back. Gokd luck keep me posted
Are you in Cali I’ll work for u I trying get experience with residential I’m industrial in union but wana start own company in residential just need experience
I'd buy used equipment at garage sales or fb market place or even make an ad saying you are looking for everything to start a painting business,, There are good people out there and honesty goes a long way The best places I ever found to rent was by making ads saying I'm ___________ and ____ years old , and I don't party or drink, and sometimes I'll tell people I'm a few years clean from a fentanyl addiction (actually 5-6) and thsg I'm just now getting my brain function back and am trying to be a regular tax paying member of society or something ,,,,, don't be too sob,, but be honest and say you want to create a better life for yourself Half the time I showed up to buy equipment or tools or something and they wouldn't take my money and told me they are happy to hear im clean and sober,, Even got first month of rent free on no lease and no damage deposit a few times (I moved a lot in the last 5-8 ,years) Damage deposit where I am is the same as one month rent and avg rent for a basement suite is 1500$ so dmg deposit would be 1500 Got a loooooot of help just being honest with people and not trying to sound like a sob poor me character,,, People appreciate someone trying to work hard to get back on their feet or create a better life for themselves . Funniest thing was a few of these people I recognized from when I was a homeless drug addict and they didn't look at me or insulted me or were disgusted by my presence,, but once I cleaned up and did mg thing, I met some of these people and they didn't recognize me but I did them so it was quite humorous 🤣🤣
My buddy got a car for free cause he Made an ad during hard times looking for a cheap 500$ shit box to get him to and from sodk , and ended up getting a dope ass 90s era truck in real good condition for free and only had to get the alternator and brakes changed, Other buddy when we were 16 seen a Honda prelude in a alleyway for a year or so and went and knocked on the guys door , told him he really needed a first car and wondered if he'd be willing to sell it to him so he could get a better job that requires own transportation,, dude sold it to him for 400$ He drove it around for 3 weeks and flipped it for 4k and now has a acreage and barn shop for repairing tractors n other farm equipment snd has his own house (in canada having a house at 30 is crazy cause avg houses are 750 000) And it's all cause he just asked and was honest ,,, He did use it to go to work but after seeing how much they went for he flipped it and began flipping cars and made a bunch of money by the time he was 29 he was Ballin That same prelude he bought for 400$ , is probably worth at least 10k , if not 20k, it was the 2001 monte carlo blue that wasn't available in North America, so might be worth more idk too much about cars But point being, just ask, make ads,, who knows someone might hook you up a sprayer for free or a dime on the dollar
If your getting paint make sure you mark it up a bit for going and getting it and also make sure they don't try to say you picked the wrong color once it's on the wall and they claim they don't like be ready to have a plan in contract for redoing work and repurchasing supplies.

How is it going?
Only thing I would add is using wooster sher-lock poles and frames. No twisting needed, snaps right on.
Great advice I have since switched
you said the 5 in-one saves you money on paint. are you saying you buy the paint for your customers upfront? you don't charge the client upfront for the material?

Everything i use listed in description
I'd buy used equipment at garage sales or fb market place or even make an ad saying you are looking for everything to start a painting business,,
There are good people out there and honesty goes a long way
The best places I ever found to rent was by making ads saying I'm ___________ and ____ years old , and I don't party or drink, and sometimes I'll tell people I'm a few years clean from a fentanyl addiction (actually 5-6) and thsg I'm just now getting my brain function back and am trying to be a regular tax paying member of society or something ,,,,, don't be too sob,, but be honest and say you want to create a better life for yourself
Half the time I showed up to buy equipment or tools or something and they wouldn't take my money and told me they are happy to hear im clean and sober,,
Even got first month of rent free on no lease and no damage deposit a few times (I moved a lot in the last 5-8 ,years)
Damage deposit where I am is the same as one month rent and avg rent for a basement suite is 1500$ so dmg deposit would be 1500
Got a loooooot of help just being honest with people and not trying to sound like a sob poor me character,,,
People appreciate someone trying to work hard to get back on their feet or create a better life for themselves .

Other buddy when we were 16 seen a Honda prelude in a alleyway for a year or so and went and knocked on the guys door , told him he really needed a first car and wondered if he'd be willing to sell it to him so he could get a better job that requires own transportation,, dude sold it to him for 400$
He drove it around for 3 weeks and flipped it for 4k and now has a acreage and barn shop for repairing tractors n other farm equipment snd has his own house (in canada having a house at 30 is crazy cause avg houses are 750 000)
And it's all cause he just asked and was honest ,,,
He did use it to go to work but after seeing how much they went for he flipped it and began flipping cars and made a bunch of money by the time he was 29 he was Ballin
That same prelude he bought for 400$ , is probably worth at least 10k , if not 20k, it was the 2001 monte carlo blue that wasn't available in North America, so might be worth more idk too much about cars
But point being, just ask, make ads,, who knows someone might hook you up a sprayer for free or a dime on the dollar
Thank you
You're welcome
99 inch plastic and the ladder is measured in feet not inches
Ya great video
