Thanks a LOT Shannon! You put estate sale into my thought process, I paused your video, found an estate sale. That was really cool, got a Starbucks coffee and ended up there at the very minute it opened. I spent $117 that I didn’t have. I am in shock. Lol, we are talking random weirdness. I did buy a couple vintage pieces of jewelry that I never touch because I don’t know what the heck I’m doing, but I went for it. I forced myself to stay away from most of the paper. We are talking, vintage books, cards, old highlights, I can’t even begin to tell you. got two scraps of fabric, one pattern because it looks like it’s from the 30s or 40s and I couldn’t help myself. Random desk items. Vintage pencils from a high school that has the basketball schedule for the year 1949 to 1950. Anybody who was playing basketball in those games is probably dead. I don’t know what the heck came over me. All I know is it was your fault! LOL

First you are a polite driver. Letting people go ahead of you. 😉😜. Second, I'm with you, I like estate sales when the crowds are gone and prices are realistic.

Great finds!!! I love your videos! I learn so much! Yesterday’s yard sales were really good for me. Hoping there are a couple half price estate sales this afternoon!

Great finds! I prefer going later to Estate sales and last days. I still find items for personal use and items with resale value. That mirrored shadow box is amazing and for $1?!?! SCORE!

To me right now, thrift stores are on the back burner while garage sales are coming in hot. I live rural and have to drive just under an hour to get to the sales, but they are really heating up. Using a lot of summer references, apparently. 😂

lol. I hear ya! I just wish we had more sometimes. Or they weren’t so spread out- can’t be at all at once 😂

I attend at least two estate sales most every weekend. They are my favorite, as I’m almost assured some good buys. I like yard sales because prices are generally low but they are hit or miss when it comes to quality items. Thrift stores are fun as I love looking for treasures. So to answer which I like best, I think estate sales would be my first choice. Love your videos, especially the research for specific items. I’ve been selling for five years but still enjoy learning. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the comment! I do like estate sales the best and thrift stores for the convenience.

Fun video! I live rural and there are only really two different estate sale companies. Usually a small line before opening, but never numbers. Prices are usually reasonable, and crowds are not too bad. I bring my sister and we split up and get all the treasure!!

This is one of the only companies around here too. Lots of families just do them themselves which can be good. I think it’s really changed in the last few years and we’ve had a lot of people move in from more expensive areas and still feel these prices are cheap.

I'm like you, I prefer waiting til the end of the estate sales. I find a lot at the end for a much better price. You got some cool items!

When you box up the shadow box shelf unit, be sure to put strips of masking or reinforced packing tape (not the cellophane kind) in strips diagonally across the mirror about an inch apart to protect it and anyone it might injure should it break. It’s what museums and movers do.

Wow! Being from the midcentury myself, all that shelf needs is a ceramic stalking panther.

Whoa, that Denby set is stunning! You got some good stuff. I went to a new Savers that opened last week (we were down to only 1 thrift store here) in my city today and the prices were insanely high! Seriously, crazy prices. A Dark Knight special set of DVD and promo cards or something for $49.95 that is listed on ebay for $19.97 free ship. I didnt even look at clothing, hardback books $9.99. Those prices are not sustainable here. Its a large suburb city but lots of Sect 8 housing and we have a huge homeless population. Nobody can pay these prices. The other Savers near here is in a very high end area and prices, although high, are about 1/3 rd of these. Got some craft items, cones of thread for my serger, some vtg sheets. One I paid up for but its pretty htf, top, bottom and duvet cover of Tintin and his dog. These are 90's and I have to translate the design title from French. I took a chance knowing I had a 20% savings credit since the 3 pieces were $22. Stopped at a couple others and got a few things, an Ikea light for $7 that should sell for $70, pj's for my sister and me, some patterns, vtg crewel kits...nothing huge until I checked the free bin outside behind one of the thrifts. They only had books but happy to find a fave cookbook of mine that I misplaced and I grabbed 2 large reference books for knives and razors. Turns out 1 sells for $35-$50, the other $75-$100! The best things I found were free. I dont do yard sales much, too many baby clothes and really cheap stuff laying on hot concrete for me, plus its just too hard getting in and out of the car that many times. Looking forward to annual rummage sales starting. Next Sun is the sewing guild sale so I will snag patterns. I usually get 40-50 at the sales. They can have cool notions and kits too. Well, time to feed the kitten....again, lol!

I don’t blame you on the yard sales- sounds like community sales here.
Sounds like you had some good finds.
And that sewing guild sale sounds like fun!

I prefer the second day of the estate sales and even better is the last hour, when they really want to move the stuff. I don't like the crowds and I like to take my time looking through things. I picked up a Montana West tote bag today too. Mine isn't leather but it is a conceal carry bag, didn't know that at the time, only paid a $1. Also picked up a Denon 5 disc changer which I should get a decent amount for but won't be fun shipping 🤔😊

    • @pishposhreselling
      @pishposhreselling  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nice! The conceal bags can do well I believe. And yes - those last couple hours can be fun! They’re just making deals!

Hello from Helena! 👋🏻 We had 2 large community sales today, but I stayed home and listed. I’m with you- people have estate fever, and I’d rather not deal with that right now! I also have a ton of stuff to list…. Think I made the best decision. 😂 I picked up 4 Baret Ware hors d'oeuvres trays yesterday at the thrift store 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Never heard of the brand, but they’re sweet. Thanks for another great video!

p.s. I scored a mixed lot of Cutco knives and ended up listing them all separately. I did the price was lower on most of them then I expected… but have sold all of them now except one listing. Had them both on eBay and Etsy. Most sold on Etsy which surprised me. So I think the market is a bit saturated maybe…😊

Cutco is really dropping in value. I have noticed it also. People don't want to have to sharpen their knives anymore.

Hi, I think you're pricing your shelf way too low. I looked them up also. There is a lot more to yours with the mirrored balls. I would reconsider how low you'd sell it for. I would say at least $300. One like yours I couldn't find listed, so yeah. Just my advice.

    • @pishposhreselling

Thanks - IF I did it online and shipped I’d start higher. But we’ll see what the local market here will do. Most people here want ranch style but a few people are into MCM. If I meet up with someone it’ll be more than a yard sale price
