I've watched this game for years grow, I've watched tons of content creators, I love everything about it but I cannot get into the game simply because I don't feel like I'm IN the game from this perspective. I've been sitting and waiting for something just like PZ but simply from the FPS or TPS perspective. I'm a player who has played every zombie game in existence since 1999, and have hundreds of hours in the games I use to play a lot. I was a zombie Panic player, Byond Resident Evil zombie player and Host and even a Zombie Browser story based game player from over a decade ago. Those are some games people don't even know exist today, Newgrounds games too. Day Z and, GTA Zombies mods, Fall out Zombies mods and such does not cut it nor show zombies as the true threat they are nor give the full survival experience. I think PZ does this and does it the best ever in gaming history. The customization of the character combined with the realism of the environment and keeping zombies as a threat shows the survival elements mixed with freedom a zombie game should have. Perhaps in the future, this same concept can be mimicked by those behind PZ but in First and or Third person.
@@kickgryhmez7015 I have hundreds of hours on PZ. I absolutely HATE the isometric view so much. Not only because of the immersion breaking characteristics, but because its kind of janky (which kind of ties into it?) and can even get you killed at times. For example, youre running from a hoard of zombies, oh hey, an alleyway, we can surely escape through there? As you approach it, the camera adjusts to make the building transparent so it stops blocking your isometric view, and you realize, there's a wall at the end of the alley. But by then, the zombies are already right behind you and you die. In a first person view, you would instantly be able to know that its not a viable option, but from an isometric view, you cannot see it till the game registers you as close enough to fade the objects obstructing view. Its definitely gotten me killed a couple times. Despite this, i still recommend giving the game a try. I love it so much.
There's something serene about being alone in the world. No sounds of industrial vehicles, no people, just nature reclaiming the world back to what it once was. It's one of the few games that truly capture the feeling of loneliness and beauty at once.
This. Part of the horror of single player PZ is that moment when you're getting past the immediate survival concerns, and have that moment of, "what now...?" and that loneliness hits. It puts you in this situation where you're forced to make your own meaning in a situation where you have nobody else, and ultimately not much of a reason for living other than just...living. Listening to the bit of the PZ soundtrack that was in the video just made me think of some of my longest lived characters and how they'd just go through weeks of just going through the motions while living in an almost zombie-free town; realising that the only way they'd find meaning would be through finding more zeds to kill, and more land to clear; even though they could live indefinitely on what they had already.
“Like the snow we fell one by one. The zombies were as cold and harsh as the weather” “No jerry! It’s because you broke our last car in the middle of muldrough!”
I have the fondest memory of one character in particular, I'm sure may of you do as well. She was my first character to survive for more than a few weeks, she was my first character to hook up a generator to a gas station, and she and I got to witness my first snow in the game, the first spring. This song, "Waiting", would almost exclusively play when I was in her base in the southern Muldraugh trailer park. I have such fond memories of that save, of the things we did to stave off the end of the world, if only in our little quadrant of Muldraugh, if only because it was OUR quadrant. This might be a bit sappy, but its true, I Will Never Forget You, Kira Young, My First Survivor.
This game... Accomplished something no other studio (in my opinion) has been able to fully capture. DayZ got close but never fully was able to do something of this magnitude. I love this game, it really helps most people answer their "What would you do in a Zombie apocalypse?" question, its so in depth that there is always something new that makes you go, whoa they did that? Thanks for the upload. This video really captures the little moments in the game.
I imagine all of this stuff happening at the same time, in the same map, just different seasons like winter and fall Everyone had their own stories that they probably wont be able to tell anyone...
the weather in this game is incredible and turns any situation into a thing of beauty, from being barricaded indoors while it rains or fighting hordes in a blizzard, the weather creates such a dramatic scene every time.
The feelings this invokes. It's amazing. Looking at each survivor, it's like their own stories intertwine with each other. Do some of them know each other? If not, will they meet each other? How will they meet? Will they be found dead or found alive and in need? It captures PZ vibes for sure and even-though it's a zombie apocalypse it's relaxing in a melancholy way. I'm looking at the survivors with their cars sitting near a fire... one with his machine under those nights and it looks peaceful. This car; a friend, perhaps the greatest friend that keeps you alive and feeling comfortable. That's just one thing.
This is really well made, it captures the feel of PZ well. You should think about doing more possibly of other games as well. Good luck with your future endeavors!
This music though. Reminds me of all the recent play through I’ve either ended on my own or died in. The soothing music hiding the fact we’re alone, trying to survive in this horror
It's been months since the world fell apart. I am the lone survivor of a zombie apocalypse. It's hard to describe the loneliness that comes with being the only human left alive. The world is quiet now, except for the moans and groans of the undead that roam the streets. I remember the day it all started. I was at work, sitting at my desk when the news broke on the TV. A virus had broken out in Louisville, and it was spreading fast. Within days, it had reached our town, and chaos ensued. I tried to stay calm and carry on as normal, but it soon became clear that this was not going away. People started to turn, and the streets were filled with the living dead. I saw things I never thought I'd see, people being attacked and devoured by those who had once been their friends and loved ones. I had to make a choice, stay and fight or run and hide. I chose the latter, and it's a decision that haunts me to this day. I left behind my family, my friends, and my old life. I never thought I'd be the only one left standing. Every day is a struggle to survive. I scavenge for food and water, always on the lookout for any sign of danger. The world is a different place now, one that is full of danger and uncertainty. I have seen things that no one should ever have to see, and I have done things that I never thought I would do. I often wonder what the point of it all is. What is the purpose of surviving when there is no one left to share it with? It's a lonely existence, and I can feel my mind slipping away sometimes. I talk to myself, to imaginary friends, anything to stave off the crushing loneliness that threatens to overwhelm me. But in the end, I keep going. I keep fighting, keep surviving. I do it because I have to, because it's all I have left. The world may have ended, but I am still here, still alive. And as long as there is breath in my body, I will keep going, keep fighting, keep surviving.
This is magnificent. Really captures alot of scenes and scenarios possible in the game. That emergent feeling I keep trying to describe to my friends. Here you are showcasing it.
This game has given me some of my favorite memories in all of gaming. I remember sitting by the fire, four-wheeler parked aside, gear set by each tent with my friend, giving advice and playing music as the warm embrace of the fire beckoned ever closer. And then it became day and I gave him 50 kilos of blue meth.
I love playing this game to get that walking dead/ night of the living dead vibe. It's calming when you just wander from town to town and the little victories of finding a can of food in an old house you're hunkering down in for a few days is just the BEST feeling
My two friends and I just cleared over 1200 zombies from Muldraugh in a couple in game days, and as we were headed home driving south along the main road, past all the bodies, it really had a feeling.
I liked It and loved It, but I think some action needs to be involved as the beautiful guitar notes goes Into rushing rhythm where survivals all together shotting at a wave of zombies in multiple locations, and then guitar goes back into slower type rhythm while a survival walks past all the massacre they survived.
The music makes me want to write. The stories and the creativity coming from the ambience and theme alone. Brings a sense of dredd but with that a glimmer of hope still lingering. A simple story of survival can sometimes be better than any other kind of tale. We wish to survive to live a life well lived. But the most we hope for in this apocalypse is a peace of mind and a quiet existence left alone and safe. I hope that only good things come your way. Well done...

First off, INCREDIBLE work on the editing! The transitions and scenery were on point! Great choice of song, too! I fucking LOVE the atmosphere of this game. The desolation feels like a home away from home. I'm free to make my own story, make my own choices and hone my own skills and instincts. And the soundtrack, the nihilistic feel of it all. It makes me wanna prove it wrong. And every triumph I have and every triumph I see others make only fuels me further in that. Making a book based in the PZ universe with a list of characters me, my brother and some of our friends made and had our share of adventures with. I'm actually really excited with how it's turning out so far. And yes, I was quite high when I wrote this. Sorry about the droning. It's not often I find a game that I enjoy this much. 😅 Edit: Loved the airborne car at the end, that made me chuckle.
@@bakstein1 Absolutely, I'm always looking for input, so if you'd like a sneak peek, I'd be happy to get in touch and show ya a few chapters. It's a little slow cause I wanted to capture life before the outbreak a bit.
I adore this game so much!!!!! I always had a dream to play a game that contains everything for survival and zombie apocalypse. I played it on my brother's PC and I can't wait to get a PC and spend tons of hours on this masterpiece 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
I hope you'll have amazing more hours in this game! It's the ultimate zombie survival game after all. (I'm quite drunk right now so sorry if my English isn't perfect but thanks for your comment)
Was sharing my screen looking for videos to watch while talking to my girlfriend over discord (we both love pz), we clicked this video and both went silent during the whole thing, absolutely captivating video, well done man.
I never play this game for long and i don't know why... I love it but there is something that still scares me.. Perhaps the loneliness or something similar . I have no friends that are intrested into these type of games to play it with me. I only have 103,5 Hours on it tho.
yeah i have over 1200 hours in the game and only have around 120 hours in multiplayer since i dont really have anyone to play with so im Waiting for a Friend
Oh wow. I had never heard of this game, but someone on my Quora feed had embedded this video in an answer for that forum and I've watched it 3 times already, just entranced. The music is gorgeous. And from the comments on the Q answer, it sounds like a game I could really get into (even if it's apparently incredibly frustrating sometimes). If only my PC wasn't a dinosaur... if only they would finish this and release it on PS4... heh, even then I would likely only play it if there's a single player mode. But I might just have to watch more YT vids like yours to enjoy this game from afar!
Thanks a lot! Yes there is a singleplayer mode (it is the main game mode, multiplayer was added years later). And even with a not so great PC you might be able to play it! If you turn down some of the graphical settings the game isn't heavy to run, if you really want to play I'd recommend looking Project Zomboid up on systemrequirementslab.com/cyri to find out if your computer can handle it!
@@bakstein1 Thank you for the link! I will check that out next time I'm on my old PC. I have found a guy on twitch who streams PZ every day so that has scratched the itch for me for now, but I do want to play the game myself eventually :)
Thank you so much for this. This is really amazing and like we say; the beauty of tragedy. If I didn't know the game, I'm positive I would be downloading it right after watching this video.
Hii, this is an amazing video, i have one question. What mods do you use in the game you made this video about. Do you especially use any of the improved climatic ambience aesthetics? It looks so beautifull the storms, blizzard and ambience and colours in the nigth. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much, and for your question; some parts were recorded in a modded server yes, but none of the mods were visual or graphics mods in any way, the visuals are all vanilla (besides some clothes, cars, etc.) It's just that in certain weather situations, with the right lighting or season, sometimes really unique scenes happen that look nothing like the game looks the majority of the time! (And those are the moments I pressed record, of course)
There are snow storms actually, how cool is that. Cause I'm in January in game, started october and I haven't experienced one yet 😝 And I want to cause I love snow 🍼 My first character died 2 weeks after she started and she's just there somewhere living her life with my backpack full of supplies. Right now I'm a man, for change. I usually never play as male character in survival games cause boring but the boy holds on pretty well. Even if I almost died the other day while I was looting a house. I was sure there was not a single zombie in that house with all the noises I made so I opened the bed room's door like I was in my mom's house and there was a female zombie just in front with the jump scare music, she tried to bite me but instead bit the air and I was hitting everything but not her, I think we were both very surprised to see each other. Then I started to run but I stumbled and fell on the ground, in the the room with her still behind me doing the wa wa wa scream when they see you and after, I put my back to the window, another zombie arrived out of nowhere and hit the window with another jump scare music like in re2 trailer 😂😂 my heart was about to explode. That's why I love this game so much.
One tip for finding the sneaky zombies, zombies don’t spawn until you can see inside the home so look through a window, then push/hit a door, it works as knocking and repeat it for every room to check if a zombie is in
Not going to lie when the multiplayer system is completely done and the game on it final update this game going to be also even if it a 2d game the the gameplay is fun so much you can do and explore and different way to start your play make it fun compared to other zombie survival
It's just Project Zomboid when it's dark and raining. You didn't show any of the day time scenes in autumn when the trees are changing color, or a nice spring day next to a lake when the wind is gently moving the trees. Beauty isn't just found in dark, melancholic, "dramatic" lighting. It drips with attempts at creating ambience through spookiness. Woah, a foggy river bank. Wow, raining by a burnt out car, it's like... so deep man. Good video though. It did showcase a lot of the beauty in the solemnity of a quiet night blanketed in snow. But there's more to beauty than emotional manipulation through "man, this is so sad, isn't it?"
Thanks! And 80% of any media content on earth emotionally manipulates you, imagine this had no music to remove the 'man, this is so sad' factor, and all of Zomboid's weather options, seasons and times of day were evenly distributed among the shots. No one would care to watch that would they? hehe.
@@bakstein1 Agreed, It is a zombie survival killing game after all. Its entire essence is based on ambient spookiness, and pure sadness lol; I mean, everyone you know is dead and you gotta kill them to survive... Youre ridiculously tired, severly depressed, and can barely walk; you aint thinking happy thoughts, and the loud banging on the front door isnt stopping... Enjoy those autumn leaves i guess...
That's understandable, when I first got it I would regularly ragequit and be off and on the game for one or two months before I really got the hang of it. Still die stupidly sometimes, can't win, but it gets better!

Man this makes me wish I had a big group to play zomboid with
I didn't have one either until I joined the Death's Door server a while ago, link is in the description, they're great
I haven’t played this game in a while I might boot it back up for another 20 rapid play throughs
Best zomboid video clip I've seen. Congrats man what an awesome job!!
the weather system in this game really changes everything
Dude, this is amazing!
The brutality of the dead is worse than even the worst man can offer.
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I was gonna take a break from this game until the NPC's and animals are patched but you made me wanna play it again
I'm sorry
>spawn
>run around
>bad loot
>get swarmed
>die
>repeat
Imagine if someone made a dying light mod
There needs to be zombie movies that have the same atmosphere and feel of PZ.
One of the best zombie survival games ever made. Once they release human NPCs this is going to be top notch.
Well done! I never knew a Project Zomboid video could give me an existential crisis
Well you're welcome
You should make PZ wallppers about survivors on base or something with this feeling❤
I really need to replay zomboid again i swear
You really captured the feel of this game.
cannot wait for the next major update so i can start my major mod overhaul into fallout :D.
@@bakstein1 Hahaha I appreciate your comment bro. I forgot to mention the video, you did a great job making these shots 😍🥰
Amazing.
You really managed the capture the depressing feeling of the PZ World
Was sharing my screen looking for videos to watch while talking to my girlfriend over discord (we both love pz), we clicked this video and both went silent during the whole thing, absolutely captivating video, well done man.
I never play this game for long and i don't know why... I love it but there is something that still scares me.. Perhaps the loneliness or something similar . I have no friends that are intrested into these type of games to play it with me. I only have 103,5 Hours on it tho.
Don't worry soon we'll be able to keep chickens as company
@@bakstein1 Yeah the Animal update will bring so much life into this game.
yeah i have over 1200 hours in the game and only have around 120 hours in multiplayer since i dont really have anyone to play with so im Waiting for a Friend
This is soo RPG man thats amazing
Beautiful stories of death each life contained.
Best post apocalyptic survival gameeeee ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from India
The beauty of grinding.
I have found a guy on twitch who streams PZ every day so that has scratched the itch for me for now, but I do want to play the game myself eventually :)
this came out great =) as someone whos obsessed with the game 100% on point ^.~ thanks needed this one for sure!
No problem thank you too 😎
Really great job and choice of music
Thank you so much for this.
This is really amazing and like we say; the beauty of tragedy.
If I didn't know the game, I'm positive I would be downloading it right after watching this video.
Thanks a lot 😎
(And those are the moments I pressed record, of course)
yes project zomboid is fun and if u wanna continue the fun just stay away from debug function
some people are capable of self control with it tbh
I've never played this game but this was beautiful, well done👏
Uma verdadeira obra de arte, cada vez me apaixono mais por esse game e só espero q cresça cada vez mais, tanto a comunidade qnt o jogo
There are snow storms actually, how cool is that. Cause I'm in January in game, started october and I haven't experienced one yet 😝
And I want to cause I love snow 🍼
My first character died 2 weeks after she started and she's just there somewhere living her life with my backpack full of supplies.
One tip for finding the sneaky zombies, zombies don’t spawn until you can see inside the home so look through a window, then push/hit a door, it works as knocking and repeat it for every room to check if a zombie is in
this is sad and also beautiful.
This is a well made video
Real piece of art, thanks
Not going to lie when the multiplayer system is completely done and the game on it final update this game going to be also even if it a 2d game the the gameplay is fun so much you can do and explore and different way to start your play make it fun compared to other zombie survival
Umm... I think project zomboid is a 3d game but the camera angle makes it like a 2d game
really good job!
sorrow and despair
Faz mais vídeos assim...ficou muito bom 👏🏼
I want to love this game but it's so freaking hard lmao. Just tried it a few days ago, I can't last more than a day in this game!
That's understandable, when I first got it I would regularly ragequit and be off and on the game for one or two months before I really got the hang of it. Still die stupidly sometimes, can't win, but it gets better!
Beautiful video.
a succesful ad
Good
