That's most Terraria mod boss fights tbh. Everglow, Fargos Souls, Infernum, etc, even The Stars Above to some extent, although I liked several of those fights. I love how in contrast Calamity keeps the bosses simple but challenging and fun, in a much more vanilla style than other mods, which is cool.
@@SaviHow I personally disagree, but I think that some of the bosses are uninspired and stupid. Mostly the worms, polterghast, and ravager. Other than that, I like the bosses. Especially the endgame stuff.
Honestly I don't think I have to say anything about this video, its just a REALLY good video that describes the mods bosses perfectly. I rate this a 9/10
The visual style is reminiscent of the MEAC fights, but those I feel are way better because they visualize their attacks better. For those it feels like “oh my gosh, I’m playing an awesome video game” while these just look like pain.
I hope one day someone makes a Cthulhu mod, I remember back in the day seeing an old fake image where Cthulhu comes out of the ocean and chases you across the map like Wall of Flesh. It would be really cool
Man, I feel like so many of these could use name workshops as well. Like, 'hellshadowflame demon' could sound not so dorkishly over the top edgy while still retaining the 'edge' if it was something like Hellish Archshade. Change the model to a ghost type deal, maybe make a banshee looking sprite, and then keep the same design principal with purple/red lasers and fire
3:12 in 1.3 tmod, there is a modded boss called 'Hellion Weygold' from a mod called the "SGA Mod", that literally adds FNF mechanics as one of its attacks
The hell shadowflame demon checkerboard attack is a reference to the board game Go and the lasers that attack you are created on the lines where the little circular discs line up to score points.
tbf terraria's movement is a lot more slippery in comparison, especially when your most accurate and quickest method of movement requires continued tapping to stay in one place. plus your hitbox is only barely smaller than your actual sprite. touhou is still definitely harder though
I've said this on like, all the other videos that covered this mod, but I'm really not that fond of mods which add bosses that are, in some way, based on ones that already exist in the vanilla game.

For another "perfectly balanced" weapon for calamity there is an early game weapon called the "Old Lord Oath sword" and it's stupidly broken for a post EOC sword

The emo demon uses a fucking GO/Reversi board Anytime something would be flipped, the laser comes out which has both the flipping piece and the pair enclosing it as points on the line

there is such a thing as too much shitty shaders and generic bullet hell bosses, and this mod is an eample of it. also why do these bosses literally have attacks from fargos mod? taking inspiration is fine and all, but a worm that telegraphs its attacks by roaring and having a shrinking cricle around its head, then encircling you and forcing you to move in a circle pattern is obviously going to make people think of eternity mode destroyer, *which does the exact same thing.*
@GitGudWO oh lol, my current computer gets like 10 fps with that mod enabled. If bosses look like this with it enabled I might have to sacrifice my room not being 500 degrees
While these mods do have amazing visual effects and some really nice attacks, their concepts don't sit with me right. It just feels way too anime for Terraria, and the fact of that they use vanilla sprites for the bosses themselves makes it feel even more out of place. They really should consider getting some sprite artists to make designs for them, because these bosses combined with the spritework from mods like Calamity or Redemption would _almost_ solve the issue of them feeling out of place.
I just don't get why people try to make bullet hell bosses so often. Personally, it's not my kind of genre since my reaction times are average at best, but overall, I find that more and more mods try to cram multiple bullet hell bosses in with as many flashy attacks as possible. I'm not going to say that it's not creative, since I do like some of the visuals from an observer's perspective, but every bullet hell is the same thing, over and over, no matter how you try to innovate it. It's essentially the 2020's version of worm bosses, just flashy instead of boring. That said though, I did like that final boss design. I'm a sucker for giant swords.

Im conflicted about how I feel about this mod. There are lots of unique and pretty attacks, but at the same time a few of them were ripped straight from fargo souls and the boss sprites are terrible by today's standards. I think I would prefer that the bosses have unique sprites with lower quality than what it currently has: edited vanilla sprites. In the end I feel its a pretty good mod, but im still a little iffy.
@@TheLegendaryLlama Take a look at 6:10 . Its fine if attacks are similar, but they couldve at least TRIED to make it unique. The water elemental attack at 4:53 is EXACTLY like one of mutants attacks, except its harder to see whats happening. 7:12 is similar to one of planteras attacks, which abomination also uses I believe. And there are a lot of reused vanilla sprites, which I guess isnt too bad but they couldve at least not used the same arenas made of razorblades, that appear in a similar way. There is taking inspiration, and then there is copying stuff, making minor adjustments, and shipping it.

Help… I’m trying to continue playing tmod but my game is just dropping big frames… I have a -Nvidia 3060ti GeForce rtx -48gb of ram -AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor GHz -x570 AORUS PRO WIFI I just wanna play epic mods 😎 I am being met with frustrating disappointment. Help would be greatly appreciated in any regard. Videos fricking neat btw 🤌
It happens to me too, I don't know why nobody talks about this, I have a very decent computer and it works like this. What I do advise is to put in the video options "skip frames subtly" so that it is at least slow but not stuck.
I recently went through a 37 mod madness run and had this one in it as well....wasn't a fan of it. Almost every boss has a DPS cap on them meaning you'll be forced to survive for a very long time no matter what your equipment is..and it is not just a minor cap...sometimes it means loosing 99% of your DPS.....fine but 90% of the time it was impossible to avoid anything...that was...not fine ...and than the game started breaking down and fortunately for the final boss I started taking 0 damage hits, only reason why could...beat it? ehh, survive it more likely. And dunno how you ppl do it but for me half the bosses started to seriously lag the game...and I have no potato PC...actually recently upgraded and some flashy-probably-only-for-eye-candy-lunatic-level-touhou mod could break it. ....and the only mod which could stop my 200k damage summoner setup in the end...hilarious, though gotta skip this one in the future...for eye candy I can just watch other ppl beat these instead of going crazy over it. Ohh and to end it, I had about 30% damage reduction and the emo demon lasers still did 400 damage hits on me...most annoying boss, especially as it is one of the few bosses whos summon item is used up after summoning it...and they are made from...luminite barsss..aaaaa

Aquatic just got another rework, same with slime god, though slim gods i don’t think was for the better. DoG has another rework in the works as well.

The hellfire shadow demon thing is actually pretty cool. The checker board is playing connect 4, and shoots a laser along any 4 connected circles

when you fight the giant dragon you actually need to get into one of the safe zones when it roars, so it's not really just a telegraph.

what does it copy from fargo's souls? fargo's souls didn't invent laser grids or bullet hells.
