My wife and kids went out there this past Spring Break (March 2023). We absolutely loved that area. With some of the snow melting, there was more water coming off the mountainside.

I'm not a hiker I'm a camper who occasionally hikes in to camp but...not too far. We're heading up north next month and may check that out, thanks.
Oh 1 more thing, it's funny how us Americans struggle with stakes in hard ground. I watch a few Korean solo camping girls and they always set up on rocks and use some really hefty stakes and hammer. They cook and eat a lot too. Rirang on air is one and Big body Camping is another. Also Yoyo camp, check em out.
That hammock chair will get you quick if you’re not careful Lol
Greetings Shaun and Sarah- Looks like a good area you guys were set up at, but its good that you both walked around are took note of what the good sites are in case you guys visit again. I cant remember what tarp that is you use over the back of the SUV, but it seems to be plenty big enough and looks like the hammock hanger is working well. I agree with you when mentioning that its good to do the bushcraft/primitive stuff to keep up on skills from time to time, but not all the time- nothing wrong with camping in style. I think you should bring Sarah with you more often to motivate you to get your butt moving when you dont feel like going further- also, its good that she is learning and kept going to get that fatwood lit. Most ladies would be concerned of their glue on eye lashes falling off. Great video- Thanks and you both be safe in your travels and during the holidays- Peace and Shalom-
Thanks buddy, the tarp is the Kalnico 10x15. It's a knock-off DD TARPS design but it's pretty good for the price! I was proud of Sara for sticking it out and getting the fire started. Those fire rings don't give much room to maneuver, but she did great I think! She definitely motivates me, and I do need that sometimes! Lol

Get yourself an aluminum cargo basket from harbor freight .. you already have the hitch and its easier to reach than a roof top carrier ..

Personal note, and trust me, I understand where you are coming from with the clicking knees and such. I was 367# summer before last. I've lost 120# since then and I feel freaking fantastic. No more clicking knees and hurting back. I've started hiking, hammock camping, and look forward to getting back into kayaking this summer. It's been life changing for me.
I'm over here in Mobile and hope I run into you some day. I'd be happy to have a drink with you, although I'm more of a Wild Turkey 101 kind of guy.
