I don't get the hate for the Tau. They are the least grimdark race in the galaxy, the least xenophobic and more likely to offer mercy and a chance to join them. While we have the genocide-happy empire of man, getting triggered by anything that isn't emperor related, which usually ends up with many humans worshiping chaos gods. Then we have orcs, dark eldar, tyranids and necrons, all of which are not much for diplomacy and more for mindless war. Then we have the eldar, acting all mystirious, but let's not forget that their race managed to somehow create a whole new chaos god. So, why do people get to dislike Tau the most? Because they sometimes chose to sterilize some populations? Would it be better to exterminate their whole world, like all the other races mostly choose to do? Or because they are mostly controled by the Etherals? As if the other races are not controled by an (half-dead) Emperor, the Chaos Gods, Warbosses ect... I'm not implying that most people should like them, I just don't get the mass hatred. I guess some people don't like that they don't prefer melee combat over ranged combat. Personaly, it doesn't make any sense to my as to why anyone would prefer melee combat over ranged combat, but that's just me.
Any sort of fictional futuristic tech that uses Japanese influences in its design will be labeled as 'anime-like'. That isn't really fair, or necessarily a problem in the first place. What rule is there that says only western-culture aesthetics are permitted in 40K? As for Tau mechs, so far as the *look* goes, the one and only thing objectively anime-like about them is just the fact that they're bipedal walkers. In all other ways, Tau walker design look as much like something from the Neill Blomkamp movie District 9 as they do anything in anime. Tau walkers don't look much like 'Gundams', do they?
Hey guys, what/how do you think a dark eldar would react to a psychic blank? They love torturing and stuff so they can feed off the dark psychic energy or something like that. So a psychic blank would be like a buzz kill for them, right? P.S TAU FOR THE WIN!!!
Wait, people hate the Tau? News to me. Soon as I saw 40k, I knew it was gonna be either Tau or Necrons (I played Tomb Kings in fantasy before they GOT RID OF MY F***ING ARMY) But so... Why do they hate the harbingers of the Greater Good?
+OneMindSyndicate yay for more Tau facts :D I play Tau miniatures (yes yes I know hate me all you want haha) Was versing my mate, using the standard 1850 point buyout got myself 6 squads of Firewalker strike teams... 3 Sniper Drone units, Commander Farsight, a XV104 Riptide Titan, a Ghostkeel and (due to the history of Farsight I am basing my army around the Conclave which are know to take on lost solider, mercenaries and anyone willing to fight) a Vindicare Assassin (my mate was cool with it) He was playing Black Templar Space Marines... with the Battle Demi Company... he tried to charge my front line.... didn't end well for him. Afterwards he said to me "If my troops and command squad had gotten into melee with you, you would have lost!" .... Me being the Smartass I am I said "What is this Me'lee you speak of?" :P
Fel Reaver there isn't a religion but a ideology which is the greater good. the tau allow religious beliefs in their empire as long as it doesn't conflict with their ideology

+Costantinov I also don't think 40k players like the mech look, they feel its coming to close to anime.

In a universe directly influenced by the warp the tau feel a little out of place.

Whats the Tau religion?
Fel Reaver there isn't a religion but a ideology which is the greater good. the tau allow religious beliefs in their empire as long as it doesn't conflict with their ideology
Fel Reaver atheist but one could argue they worship the ethereals like gods
Carson Casmirri No they don't. there is no argument. they don't worship the ethereals. read the codex and you'd know their is no worship or anything.
