i would love to own one of the mid-thirties business coupes with a flathead six and drive it across the country. i don't think i would even mind it all that much if it stranded me beside the road a few times. as i would bring my tools with me, and a few choice parts, like my dad did, BITD, every time we went on a long day's journey or vacation.
not many vintage cars where you get more for you buck that you would with an aging body-off restoration of a 30's dodge. people, and many that should know better, don't believe they are viable in the modern world. how wrong they are.
    BTW, this one's a beauty!
i would think that rev-matching might help on the downshift...as on a downshift the engine is never turning over fast enough to match the speed of the driveshaft, so the synchronizer must do the job, but if the engine is revved up above the speed of the driveshaft ("blipping the accelerator pedal as it's sometimes called) and a little pressure is supplied to the gear shift lever in the direction of the gear to which one is downshifting, while in neutral and the clutch engaged, the gears will slip together naturally as their speeds intersect
i don't think i'm telling the host anything he doesn't already know,
    BTW. :)
