    My main is a Lore-master and it is my favorite class. I enjoy variety so I like all the classes and certainly it's hard to argue with Hunter travel skills and other conveniences. However, Lore-master allows me to play as sleepily as I like or take on as much challenge as I want and with the 3 very different trees and wide range of skill types there's a lot of variety in just the one class.
    I do play my Lore-master in Blue spec most of the time. However, once past Level 60 I noticed that my pets were contributing a much smaller percent of my overall damage output, and once past 85 or thereabouts their contribution dropped off the cliff. Before 60 it can be as much as 50%, around 90 it's more like 15% unless you really go out of your way to just stand there and let the pet do all the work. Since so many of the Blue traits are about improving the pet, and since double of almost nothing is still almost nothing, I'm not sure those traits retain their value as one moves through Gondor and into Mordor and beyond. This isn't to say that Blue is unplayable - I am still playing it, mostly - but it is very weak and slow compared to Red. The best way to not be defeated, at least most of the time, is to defeat the other guys as quickly as possible. Blue is actually pretty nice in groups because the pets offer unique and pretty powerful buffs to the entire group but solo... I am a convert to Red being best even if I don't use it myself most of the time.
    I miss Sic 'Em although admittedly its replacement Murder of Crows is one of the most powerful DPS skills in the game and it is even AoE.
    Yellow is a semi-decent healer nowadays and it is unmatched for crowd control and other support tasks.
    One of the things you need to do as a Lore-master is quickly dismiss your current pet and then summon a new one. This needs to be done for several reasons: First, each time a pet is summoned it appears with full Morale, full Power, and all its skills off cooldown and ready to use even if it just used them all before you dismissed it or it died. Second, cycling through all your pets can get a lot of debuffs on the enemy and a lot of buffs on your group - more important for raids but useful even when alone sometimes. But it's awkward to have to right-click on the pet's portrait frame and select DISMISS PET or to type /pet release into the chat box. But it's easy to just click a button! So create a button to easily dismiss your pet: 1- Unlock your skill bars. 2- Temporarily move whatever you have in Skill Button 1 (the bottom-most/left-most skill button) somewhere else. 3- Type the following into the chat entry field, without the quotation marks: "/shortcut 1 /pet release". 4- Move the new Pet Release button, which just appeared in Skill Button 1, to whatever skill button you wish. 5- Return whatever was in Skill Button 1 back to Skill Button 1.

    This is one class that I always wanted to get to a higher lvl but never got to far with it because I usually ended up making a different class and getting deep into that char and by the time I end up making a Loremaster I end up stop playing due to burnout.

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a slow burn to be sure. But it's sooooo good as you get a full array of pets, especially considering how much you can specialize the pets.

      I feel you. I played LOTRO during beta, and on the day of launch created a Lore Master. However, due to my altaholic nature, I have STILL not reached level cap (140 as of right now). He's around 130 right now, and I have about half a dozen others at roughly the same level. Someday...sigh...

    Great video. It's time to dust off the LM.

  • @heyhoojoe
    @heyhoojoe ปีที่แล้ว

    Cheers from Germany, Renfail! I really appreciate your videos!
    Would you say that you rank the LM's combat prowess so high because you compare it to past iterations of the class? The reason I ask is that my LM is only level 40, but I would say it performs about the same on white to yellow mobs as yours in this showcase - which means he is struggling badly compared to my alts (Guardian, Champion, Rune Keeper, Hunter and Warden - who are also all fairly low level (30-62)).
    Class-fantasy-wise the Loremaster is hands down my favourite, and I have been giving the class try after try for over seven years, but it's just a real stinker by comparison, and I always end up playing my other classes.
    Do all classes struggle like your LM did in the video, once you enter the mid-game? What landscape difficulty was this on, btw?

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว

      As you get towards Mordor, yes things get more difficult

    • @Renfail

      Yes, it is. All classes solo; it's not really an MMORPG anymore, it's a single player RPG with group elements if you desire.

    Any suggestions on how to keep track of the durations of debuffs & crowd controls? Is there an ingame solution or do you have to resort to thirdparty tools?

    • @Renfail
      @Renfail  ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean yeah you can pay attention to the countdown timers manually but other than that it's all third-party tools if you're looking for automation

    Is loremaster and runekeeper the only real mage classes for this game? I'm kind of new to LOTR online. Thanks.
    Also, is there no ENT pet?? I'd have thought one of them would for sure be an ent pet.
