Agree with all except for Tag 2. I personally think Tag 1 has a much bigger impact in the series because it was highly competitive, it was the origin of tag throws, and it brought together two generations of fighters which made for epic matchups! (Kazuya vs Jin, Baek Vs Hwoarang, Julia vs Michelle. For example)

Tekken 6 was robbed. I can't believe Tekken 4 of all things got in over it, that game had absolutely terrible gameplay and roster. Tekken 6 had so much playable content, great gameplay and roster, the best customization in the series, the best story mode, the best beat 'em up mode (Scenario Campaign) which had countless stages and loot, RPG elements, co-op matchmaking, etc. It stands as one of the best entries in the series without a doubt. Top 5 Tekken games: 1. Tekken 5 (DR) 2. Tekken 3 3. Tekken 6 4. Tekken 7 5. Tekken Tag 1 2 & 3 can be interchangeable.
Personally, I love Tag 2. The roster was just insane. From a nostalgic point of view, Tekken 2 is my favourite from the PS1 Era. Overall, it has one of, if not the best Soundtrack in Tekken History

Amazing roster of characters. Incredible graphics and gameplay. I loved everyone's endings. It never stops being fun for me. 7 while a HUGE step down, still had a cool roster and fun gameplay, but extras wise it was seriously lacking. I still prefer it over 4 and 6 though.
For me, personally: 5. Tekken 6 4.Tekken Tag Tournement 3. Tekken 7 2. Tekken Tag Tournement 2 1. Tekken 5: DR The list isn't super "objective" on my part. Mostly based on positive memories at the time of playing them. If I were to be more objective T7 would probably take TT2's place. It may even take T5DR's place despite some of my issues with T7... Maybe.
Can I cheat and just put all the TEKKEN'S at no.1? Cause I love this series that much. Edit: Okay but seriously. I love this series. When I take everything in, I personally feel that T7 is my No.1 game. It just did everything right for someone like me. and with its success I'm confident that Tekken8 will Drive that success even future now that Bandai's Higher ups have faith in the series again after what the Team delivered with 7. So if I am to make my own TOP 5. Right now it would be, 5: Tekken6/3 4:Tekken4 3:Tekken5DR PSP. 2:Tekken Tag 2. 1:Tekken7

I still pop it in my PS1 wherever I get some Free Time. I always love Going back to Jaming the Old games. I think the only thing I disagree here is the lack of Tekken Tag Tournament's presence. T3 is a solid game and T4 is fun to goof around with but I personally would've dropped one or the other for the original Tag Tournament experience, since I feel that game had a huge roster + a refined Tekken 3 experience + still holds up to this day, presentation-wise
I'm a bit surprised that Tekken 6 didn't make this list, but given that Tag 2 is basically T6 with tag mechanics, I can accept that. Dark Resurrection unequivocally deserves to be at the top of any list. It's the absolute peak of fundamental Tekken, and a great place for anyone to start if they're just getting into the series. I miss that movement.......🥲
As a person that was eager to jump into Tekken 7 when I finally did after season 4 it felt really lackluster. The game doesn't even have a VS CPU mode and the online multiplayer is just enough to be playable. I guess the core gameplay is top-notch but it has a clear pay-to-win push, with high level balance tipping towards dlc character. I expected a lot more given all the praises it got but I was barely satisfied and I bought it with a heavy discount on the complete package. But I think I'll give the series another shot with T5:DR hoping it will live to the its name
TTT2 reigns supreme for me. Say what you will about its competitive balance, but it looks great, has the largest roster in the series, has the best customization in the series, and is filled with a ton of little details. Tekken 7 took a lot of steps backwards and was a big disappointment for me personally.
Tekken Tag 1 was just a better competitive game than Tekken 3 (which I loved T3) TTT1 ignited the competitive tekken tournament scene.. but I will agree Tekken5 DR was a masterpiece.
I only had the demo version of T1 but T2 to me is almost as great as T3. The game play wasn't as refined and the characters still had the high jump but it already had the Tekken magic in full force. T2 still has my favorite opening intro video in the series that's about as great as Soul Blade's opening video. It also introduced most of the characters in the way we know and love today. T3 and Tag were incredible because they had all 3 important elements: great game play, great graphics and great content. T4 looked great but it felt like an experiment more like a true sequel. T5 and T6 and Tag 2 were all great but they all came at an awkward time when the graphics weren't comparable at all to what T3 did at it's time. T7 did the right thing with focusing on tournament play and i bet thousands of players who would have been comfortable playing against the AI if there was more game modes, ended up watching the tournaments and trying Online for the first time, falling in love with it and finding out what Tekken is really about. T7 graphics were ahead of it's time in the arcades in 2015, at least if considered that it was a pretty low budget game. (played 700 games while i lived in Tokyo) but even the PS4 Pro version was behind the arcade graphics and the Xbox version was truly horrible.. Thankfully it looks pretty friggin good on PC in 4K. I personally think it matches the Tekken 3 level of quality and goes way beyond it in game play. T8 should be the Tekken that will surpass any Tekken that's come before by every measure. True next gen graphics, hopefully game balance is next gen too because they got so much data from Tekken 7 that wasn't possible to get from previous games. And i'm pretty sure it will have a lot of offline game modes too and maybe even much more advanced AI for offline players.
I loved Tekken 5 but hated dr. The decision to have it only available for psp and not PS2 legit killed it for the local fighting scene I was a part of.
I can definitely agree with Tekken 3, 4, Dark Resurrection and even 7 (despite it being my least favorite post-Tekken 2 entry in the series because I'm not a fan of the changes done to the gameplay, the new engine, visuals & music, the new take on the story and the lack of good single player content, making the experience lack luster as a Tekken game for me, I just can't deny the impact it made and the sales), but Tag 2 I question the placement of, I think most people here would agree that Tag 1 should take its place instead, but obviously you're not appealing to popularity, which is respectable.
Tekken Tag Tornament 2 I think was the best Tekken game. It had the best roster IMO, bringing in all characters from all previous games, except Gon. Music was great, stages were fun. You could play with up to 4 people locally which is rare for a fighting game. The only reason why TTT2 was bad was because it wasn't patched/balanced. This was because it was uncommon for games to be balanced/patched frequently especially if they were console only. T7, first tekken to be released on PC, was the point where Tekken started to update, patch, and balance more than any other tekken game. If they released TTT2 today with the amount of support they gave T7, the game would be praised, if not more than T7. TTT2 had more game modes than T7 and Snoop Dog lol I would love for TTT2 to be ported to PC/re-released and actually have updates/balance patches in it.

2:10 it's a shame that the ps1's limitations couldn't allow those stages to be seen in 3D, they looked gorgeous in the arcade version.

It was also for the PS3 as well, though those were also super expensive at the time that DR came out.
