I love this performance of Perfectly Marvelous and Jane Horrock's hammed up accent. It actually becomes endearing, and I think it fits with this personality. The only time you should really hear her voice as a real person is at the end when she says, "What a horrible reason for two people to stay together". It's that unmasking which makes her remarkably vulnerable in contrast to the entire, WARNING PUN, Cabaret of her personality.
Anyone watching this in Jan 2021? Jane Horrocks is unbelievably talented! I have spent all afternoon researching her work and interviews - and wasn't in the slightest wee bit, disappointed. Also, it took me an age to ascertain that Cliff is not Lee Evans lol :-)

Sally Bowles is supposed to be over the top and in fact is supposed to be a second rate performer... Liza was so good... she kind of spoils the role for everyone else... I feel sorry for any actress trying to do it... saw a good woman do it in Dublin last night... agree that the normally great Jane Horrocks overdoes it and not in a good way...
