      Hi, cool guppies! Just a note, don't mix the tail types or you'll end up reverting them to wild type.

  • @NYGOLD

    WOW those are some really nice guppy strains. That German one at the end is a real head turner, I've never seen that before. Congrats on the Hillstream babies!!!!

    Congratulations on the baby loaches - I use the same pile of rocks technique. So many cool guppies! Wow! And nice shrimp. Your 'little' fishroom is growing by leaps and bounds, as is your channel; and deservedly so!

    • @WildFishTanks
      @WildFishTanks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea the change to the larger rocks in the pile so the adults could swim in and out and “take care of business” was clutch. Still not sure how many I have and rarely see the little suckers

    Those are some nice guppies. Congrats on the hillstream. The second Apisto Honsloi looks like a sub-dominate male. Those cherry shrimp almost look like Bloody Mary’s. Nice ruby red color on them. So many cool fish in the fish cave 👍

    • @WildFishTanks
      @WildFishTanks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tom. I’m hoping I have at least 1 female but we’ll see. Pretty sure with the other apistos I have 3 males and 1 female. Wouldn’t be ideal but would get the job done theoretically 🤞

  • @ericrouleau3987

    I hope when you cull those endlers, you save them because the swords on the tail grows as the endler ages. So you might be culling some with good tails just not full grown yet

    • @WildFishTanks
      @WildFishTanks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Very good point. I’ve been putting them in another tank. Most of the males I’ve culled so far have more than just the swords “wrong with them” but I’ll keep an eye on the cull tank for any late blossoming males. Thanks for the good advice Eric

    All those colourful guppies are sooo pretty. But I have to admit, the kind of guppy I'm drawn to over and over is that simple half black with the rounded tail. I just prefer that look, not sure why. I'll ooh and aah over the others, but go home with that one. 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the guppy content!
    Also, not quite as good a deal as you normally get, but I just picked up 3 ten gallon tanks, with the Big Al's stand to hold them, all tanks have lids (need them - I have cats) with lights, heaters, sponge filters, and other assorted accessories. Have seen enough of your videos to feel confident fixing them up for a nice centralized betta station! For about a third of the cost of stand and tanks alone. So thank you!

    • @WildFishTanks
      @WildFishTanks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea there is something simple and nice about the smaller tails. There was an awesome endler that I lost out on the bid but reached out to the winner afterwards and hope to buy some fry from him eventually. Great pickup and seems like it’ll fit your purpose perfectly PJ!

    My friend you have hydra in the ice blue German yellow double sword tank. At 16:55 you can see it in the top right on the Anubias leaf. I had it a while back as well. I’ve heard it can “sting/harm” the fry thou. I used fenbendazole to get rid of mine.

    My hillstream loaches have bred since they matured. I have about 20 now, from 4 adults. The tank I have them in make it impossible to catch them to sell so the colony just keeps getting bigger. If you ever figure out what secret we have in our tanks let me know.

      Just send an email to the ALA (American Livebearer Association).
      Some breeders there also pass their offspring on to non-members.
      You might be lucky ... it's definitely worth a try.

  • @TinyvanKeulen
    @TinyvanKeulen ปีที่แล้ว

    If you want a strong stock of guppies, have a permanent breeding group and put all the offspring in a different tank.
    If you let the sexes grow up separately (separate by sex within 3 weeks after birth!) you will have virgin females. This is useful if you want more offspring from a particular male (new or from your breeding group). Because you put them with two or three virgins... And only when the females are pregnant do you put them in the breeding group with the male.

  • @JohnPritzlaff
    @JohnPritzlaff 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please, after you have a generation or two each of those guppies and endlers, for the love of God, breed 5 types with the other 5, sons with daughters and daughters with sons and so forth for the love of God. All the coolest new strains come from guppy endler hybrid line breeding IMO.
    And, the functionally infinite combinations you can get in the interim (mutts) are just so incredibly cool.
