Ascension was the first song I heard by Max!!! Loved it - Sumthin' Sumthin' I didn't know it was the same person!! Til The Cops Come Knockin' and Whenever, Wherever, Whatever is still on my playlist...as I'm typing Til The Cops is on BET Soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
He expressed himself according to how he felt as a young man growing up with a Haitian Caribbean mom and Puerto Rican father. He didn't feel black enough...he didn't feel like he had black roots to represent! But experience truly teach wisdom and now his travelling and absence and music make him a true neo- soul artists and a true honest humble man. May God continue to Bless him and keep him free and safe!😍😍😍
I was in High School when he first dropped. 20 years later, Dude hasn't aged at all. Great to see a real musician exist today, and the way he gave props to those came before and after him, from Omar and Soul II Soul to Amy Winehouse, Adele, Frank Ocean and Sam Smith. A class Act
+Latesha Shampree its because he intentionally takes himself out of the spot light for long periods of time so he can stay pretty down to earth (now i dont know how he is off camera) but ive even read on several occasions that hes a sweetheart in person...and actually kind of shy...I think its because he speaks from his heart.
Maxwell is deep and dope his music makes my day I love this song fortunate and also all of his songs i listen to his music 🎶 every day it starts my day i love love him omg he’s a beautiful and humble man 👍🏾❤️❤️🙏🏾
Blacksummers'night was one of the BEST fucking rnb albums of the last decade. He had live instruments and everything on there, not a sub-bass synth and trap beats.
Maxwell know you are beautiful inside out, my daughter turn me on to you, today we fight over who you belong to lol I love you, we love you!!! will always support whatever you. I LOVE YOU, LOVE YOUR MUSIC NEVER STOP MY BROTHER WE LIVE FOR THE MUSIC YOU MAKE. GOD BLESS YOU!!!
I don't get why people in America thinks only African-Americans are/should be consider "Black". So confused by that way of thinking. I'm Black, born in Nigeria and grow up in America. I'm black because I'm a descendant of Africa, Haitians are descendants of Africa and so are the Porto Ricans. Never seen Maxwell as anything but black and I love everything about him.
You completely misunderstood the concept. Thats not what american blacks believe. Im black american, if i moved to nigeria and adopted an igbo musical form, and dropped albums ppl would call me an outsider. Culture and race are two different things
That was an excellent enjoyable interview!! I think interviews are not only important to the Artist, but to the FANS, and others to critique the mentality, culture, and mostly the "Artists's" intellectual mindset to determine the compatibility connection so that we too will be able to decide is this the person you want playing in your "CD, Tape Player, Buds, Record Player, and etc. In all actuality you do want the "Artist" to be acceptable to our family as well as being able to pass this amazing "Artist" down to our generations that are trying to find their journey throughout life!! MAX meet those respectful guidelines in his music, as well in his interviews. He always leave me with a few words that I have to "google" for the definition!! Very intellectual, and I love every second of it too; especially being on a level to teach, as well as sing to us all!! Love you "Max"!!!
Maxwell always been the truth, bringing dat real r&b music . that's what the people want to hear , not these niggas trying to be luther Vandross and ll cool j at the same time, that not real r&b. yall kids need to learn what the r&b genre is all about, starting with this man right here.
Ebro!!!! Omar WAS your shit??...You've got some catchin' up to do! LOL Omar has been puttin' out some timeless, classic, HOOOOOOOOOTTT shit! It's crazy that they don't play his stuff on the radio. Omar is definitely keeping Soul Music alive.
Maxwell I hope to see you on 9/15/24 at One of my work place (Madison Square Garden), I say this based on the fact that I will be running late. God bless you! Sincerely Yours, Dawn Cruickshank 😄🙏🏽
Here's the thing his family probably said to him, how are u going to be a American soul singer when your roots Caribbean? Sometimes ur own family can confuse you or others.
He says he doesn't know what it is about the British/English. I'll tell you what it is, it's the influence from us CARIBBEANS/Africans. If you check the places where Amy Whinehouse and Adele grew up, there are large Caribbean communities living there. It's actually ironic that his Caribbeaness made him feel inadequate or less black. Crazy. I feel we have retained our African culture a whole lot more than Americans especially Haitians.
+Bethsaida Romelus Are you serious? What Caribbean's have you met? I'm Jamaican and along with Haitians we have preserved our Africaness(Blacness) the most. In Jamaica we have people that still speak African languages and it's very much apart of our creole. We still practice African religions and have retained our African features in our looks as well as our food, dance, music. So I don't know much about other Caribbeans but the ones that dominate the England such as Jamaicans, Bajans, Trinis, St Lucians and Dominicans know we are black. We also have a large community of Africans from Nigeria and Ghana. So how can we deny our blackness when we are faced with people from Africa who are identical to us physically and culturally. My boyfriend is Gambian and we never ever thought for a second we were different from each other. Jamaicans are the only group of people that have developed a religion/way of life that emphasises repatriation back to Africa. So I don't know who you have met.
+Bethsaida Romelus I'm sorry to hear that. My impressions of Haitians were that they were proud to be Black/African and that pride enabled them to fight against their oppressors successfully.
I can tell Max doesn’t like the girl he’s sitting next to. He seemed annoyed by her and rarely made eye contact. Look at his face every time she started speaking.
Wayamin. What are we talking about here. And I mean no disrespect to anybody, but in Real life: the best, most stolen, most sampled music comes from black artists. I mean we’ve done Everything. being Such the originators we are. It’s just that racism and colorism is Still ridiculously prevalent. where others come out do Our thing and it becomes the rage. Because there’s no way in God’s green earth that an artist like Maxwell isn’t seen as just as off the freaking chain (and it’s shown globally AND in monetary value) as he actually is. I mean, seriously. Lbvs ❤❤
They don't give a flying crap. Africa is the whole thing. They always respect London even if it's in Europe never ever respecting Africa's individualism. Foh

This is why DFEA/DFCA makes so much more sense. It's about soul. "Race" has created so much confusion.
