- Nadine Landry and Stephen Sammy Lind perform "The Lakes of Pontchartrain”, a ballad from the United States about a man who is given shelter by a Louisiana Creole woman. He falls in love with her and asks her to marry him, but she is already promised to a sailor and declines. This haunting, lovely ballad is possibly from the civil war era or perhaps before, even as early as the War of 1812. Nadine’s stunning vocals and guitar and Sammy’s soulful fiddle make this rendition of the song one of the most accomplished ever. Video c. Deep End Sessions, 2022.
What a great performance of a wonderful song! Thanks...
Awesome !!!! Well done .
Nadine presented one of her best performances on this one. Beautiful job. Now this song is stuck in my head! Just a very catchy tune. ❤
I love Nadine great singing, especially when she closes her eyes!
I'd not realized these two had visited again! I think Paul Brady has the definitive version of this song, but as usual Sammy & Nadine do a great job.
Excellent rendition
I love her

fantastic
Mesmerizing.....! 😲👍
I enjoyed thank you
perfecte uitvoering van deze song!
Both Sammy and Nadine did a great job on a difficult song. Beautiful! Much different than being in the back row of the Foghorn String Band.
they are great as a duo AND as half of Foghorn String Band
There are no second stringers in Foghorn !!! (;^))
Merry Christmas one and all !!
I enjoyed your performance, thank you.
that was great
Sweet interpretation and happy to see this version of a foghorn duo.
C’mon Nadine !
Muito bom
Superb rendition...By chance, might you folks be looking for any original songs?
I prefer the lyrics with "dark girl towards me came," emphasizing the fact that the singer, who has been tagged as having money that's "no good", probably Confederate money, is taken in by a person of color. Yes?
I've done some research on this it will be in a book in the new year, the clues are in the words, the railroad is the key. Look up when the rail road to Jackson town was first built and when it got steam locos.....then figure out how it took a day to get to the girl in the woods.
Nice cornerless fiddle.
