Elena is not playing with the "INTENSITY" that is needed to succeed. Sabalenka, Iga and Coco are playing much more intense and more determined than her. Elena is like, "oh well, come what may". I say this and I am a big fan of hers but really disappointed.

What a match by Bentic! Great ball-striking and her best performance since‘s been back on tour. Rybakina now drops to 7th in the live rankings after not being able to defend her title. She also has to defend 650 points from the final in Doha next week

Rybakina is only playing for sake of playing. Her mind is somewhere else.

Indeed. She is not herself now!

All of you are discounting the fact that Bencic outplayed Rybakina. You give zero credit for how well Bencic played. Bencic neutralized Rybakina's power and hit shots Rybakina did not expect her to hit: catching her off guard and out of position.
      Now go worship your loser.

Beli had a solid AO and has really been sharp this year; just too steady for Lena. Rybakina better close her DM's.

Incidentally Madison Keys picks up a new career high ranking of #6 with Elena losing points

Nice entertaining match. Bencic was getting into the match in the first set, then grabbed sloppy game from Rybakina, took the flow of the match on her racket and didn't let go almost till the end. Then on her first match points, after Rybakina argued with umpire, let Elena come back to the match a little, but re-adjusted and served her way to the final confidently and, of course, the winning serve was down the T (spammed that serve all match on pressure points). Very very nice come back to the tour for Bencic and one win away from the title. Though, Krueger, if will handle her nerves, could be tricky. Elena, arguably, played best out of her three matches here, but didn't make any adjustments during the match, once Bencic lifted her play. Arguing with umpire (though, she wasn't in the right, probably) helped her lift her spirits in the end, but it was too late, down two breaks. Maybe should try to do it earlier next time :))) On the bright side, a little but more recovery time for Doha, where draw is stacked. Judging by progression of quality of play, should play better there, just need to stay focused, react to opponent's adjustments herself and work on getting back her serve numbers.
