    I'm guessing he is a fabulous teacher. His explanations are profound. And his playing...perfection, really.

    The sound of the english horn has to have the most beautiful sound. I'm playing oboe right now, but if I get to play english horn, that would be a dream come true for me. I love the oboe, but I just love the sound of the english horn more. I love reed instruments that have a warm tone. :D

      @@DanielRamirez-rg8qy I actually have had the chance to play one since I last commented. My college has one, and they're letting me borrow it because I'm in the orchestra.

    It’s the same thing when you switch from Flute to Piccolo. Albeit there are more colleges that are offering degrees in auxiliary instruments. Bravo Pedro!!!

    Only the English Horn could play that passage from Dvorak's New World Symphony. Any other instrument would have diminished the intended effect.

    He's right, I do recognise Dvorak's Cor Anglais solo ... from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.

    Actually, many french companies buy the reed material in northern Spain, in the Ebro valley

      @@dianadelcid8299 The English Horn isn't a Horn, it's an Alto Oboe because of its role. The naming of the Oboes in the family should be by their role and range.

      @@RockStarOscarStern634 Actually, the Oboe D'Amore is the alto Oboe, the Cor Anglais is the tenor Oboe.

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jsaavedr1 I disagree, they sometimes call the English Horn an F Alto Oboe cause it has the same range as another instrument the F Alto Sax. The range of an Oboe & a Sax (as long as they're in the same key is pretty much the same. The reason I think of it being an Alto Oboe is because they reassigned the roles of the Oboes (and the naming just like the Human Voice) in Oboe Ensembles (they double as Oboe sections in Bands etc) as various members of the Oboe Family were revived.
