You should have included her being a mom to herself in season one when Sara has to bring her past self onto the ship and has to "Mom" both younger Sara, younger Mick, and tasks them to taking care of Baby Leonard.
He was at the end of the season 1 finale for like 30 seconds and in like 3 minutes of the first episode of season 2. His purpose was pretty much just to introduce the JSA into the Arrowverse (well the original JSA not the one from Stargirl)
To quote show runner Phil Klemmer: "When a family loses a parent, and a bunch of children, Party of Five-style, have to raise themselves, it's gonna be really interesting.” He literally refers to Sara as the Legends’ mom and her abduction as them losing a parent. 🥺
