Ugh. Just seeing the profile in the sky for one of the most iconic aircraft of all time is worth the price of admission. Kelly Johnson will always be a legend. I’m in. Take my money!
This is outstanding! The A Okay from a legendary SR-71 pilot like Bert and the fact that the first two shipments have sold out says all that needs to be said! Great job Horizon! Big and full featured or small and simple...there is something for everyone and you guys get that. So does Bert...imagine that.
That gentleman has to have some amazing stories, great interview I love listening to retired military pilots share their stories, they never disappoint! 👍🏼
Bert definitely lives his dream even when starting it from high school days, and enjoys flying RC models, real down to earth person and amazing to have him here for testing the model, pilot an icon testing the iconic plane! 👍
My father was trained on Sr-71 at Edward's. He was an instrument specialist, then I think crew chief. He retired at Beale after a tour in Utapow Thailand. I went to school with several of the kids whose father's flew the SRs. I was out in the desert, around Edward's, a big red Cadillac Eldorado pulled up and asked what I was looking for. Horned lizards I replied.he said he supposed his son Joe Jr was in my class at the jr high school. This was Col. Joseph Roger's. He and his co pilot had to bail out of an SR and survived. I think col Roger's still holds a speed record in an F-105. Col Roger's has been gone for many years. His son Joe Jr still lives in NorCal. I also watched the XB-70 taking off, the morning it crashed. Cold Cotton's daughter was in some of my classes. For an aircraft afficionado, Edward's AFB was an amazing place to grow up. My father was an RC fanatic back then, and because of his flying skills was offered a position with NASA, also at Edward's during that era. My father was too far into his AF career, and politely declined. It was an honor just to be asked. My Dad would have loved the new EDF's and electric technology. He passed away just as it was becoming cost effective and popular.

My first was in 1977. A Cox .049 Cessna one channel. It was useless, preset elevator, controllable nose gear and rudder. Into chain link fence first flight, couldn't gain altitude. Was in the air for less than 30 seconds, total loss ! I WAS HOOKED !
The SR-71 Blackbird and F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF models are sized to be more affordable and practical for a wider audience to own and fly! Please keep in mind not everyone can afford more complex/expensive models...nor do they have the space to fly a larger model in and/or a suitable surface to fly it from. We also include a set of optional-use red vertical fins you can install on the SR-71 for improved visibility/orientation, as seen in this video: th-cam.com/video/AtMCmGZlv50/w-d-xo.html

They're a bit too small to be equipped with retracts (they do have removable landing gear though!), and we understand that may disappointing to some. But please keep in mind not everyone can afford more complex/expensive models...nor do they have the space to fly a larger model in and/or a suitable surface to fly it from. That said, we also understand some people would still prefer larger, more complex, and expensive versions of these models. And if this class of model sells well in this particular subject matter, we will definitely consider offering such larger and more complex models in the future!
