Ethan, to ensure I don’t run out of battery I’ve brought along a Mophie and an extra charging cable and hunt with the camera filming/charging off from the Mophie.
I have found a better way to mount to the hat is to punch a hole through the bill of the cap feed the tabs through the hole and then run a bolt in nut through the tab to keep the camera in place. If you use 3 nuts - One in the middle between the two tabs and two outside of each tab. I use an 1.25" bolt and cut the hole backside of center of the bill. Hole is just big enough to run the tabs through. Much less weight and rides a bit lower so better center of gravity.
Have you looked into GoPros hindsight feature? You can set it and it was actually capture 15-30 before you hit the record button. It does drain the battery but less than full on recording and it’s less footage to have to go through.
This specific video is our hype video. I have gone back and watched it numerous times. Just gets us pumped!! Thanks for sharing all this good information Ethan!! Hope Dr. Peter gets to hear all the hard grief you give him 🤣🤣
Thanks for the tips! Purchased my first GoPro. Looking forward to documenting those once in a lifetime moments with my family. Hoping to start my own channel! Elk hunting, white tail.. Mule deer.. Camping, fishing! All that good stuff. Definitely have a better idea. Thanks! Native from Montana 🤘🏽
Hey man, love this video. I just got a GoPro hero 11 black and was going to try to take some videos on my Michigan pheasant hunts. I plan on getting a hat mount and shotgun mount and switching them back and fourth to see what I like better but I don’t know all the specs to get the best shot and all that. What settings do you recommend? Or any other tips or anything you might have ? Thanks!
@@StandingStoneKennels Hi, usually, when I film with the camera on my hat the picture would tilt to the right as I'm take aim at the target (my head tilts), how do you avoid that? Is it through post-processing? Thanks!
So are you recording in normal video and then going into the editing software and making it slomo? Just getting into filming some hunts and I’m completely new .
Great question. I edit with iMovie...I used to use Final Cut a long time ago but back then it was complex and had more than I needed. The thing about iMovie though is that it exports in 30 fps so setting your fps to a higher level doesn't really do much. You might as well take the resolution over the fps..as long as you use the disk space. My hero 9 with a 128 gig only lasts about 3 hours. Hope this helps.
I have a gopro 10 going try self film this year how close does deer have to be to see it and can you zoom in footage off a gopro after you put it in PC
You can control your camera through your phone, but you actually have a shotgun in that hand. So, you let it run-yes it is a pain to edit. When I finish a 3 hour hunt I have 4 hours of film (B Roll and after-action report)..buy multiple batteries and an Ankar if necessary.

That’s awesome! I don’t love the cable hanging out of the unit...

Great educational video, what hat mount is that?
A crappy one TBH! They now make hats with built in frames for the cameras! Much much better all the way around.

As for video settings I use the highest quality on auto! Both head mounted and gun mounted can create a cool shot!
Hello I have a GoPro Hero 6 Black what settings do you use for your GOPRO? Thanks and keep up the with the good videos. Thanks
Auto!! :)
@StandingStoneKennels there are like 10 settings on this thing. Just put it on auto, Auto. What?
Are you turning the camera on by remote or just leaving it on all the time.
Thanks
Mike
You guys are knowledgeable and make great training videos, but what are some books and videos which helped you get to where you're at today. Thanks.
Great video. Just picked up my hero 9. And getting started with all this. Any suggestions? Follow along if you can. We on IG and TH-cam.
What music play in this video? All video is beautiful.
I have a go pro 7 black. I don't have a computer to edit with. I have the go pro app for simple editing. What are your go pro camera settings?
Do you film in linear on your go pro ?
When the camera is on your hat do you shoot in linear/ wide/ superview etc?
Linear mode I don’t love the look of the wide view.0

What editing software do you use?
how many cameras you take with you when hunting?

In this video we are recording with a GOPRO and then use editing software to make it go slomo!
How do y’all edit like what do you use to edit some stuff

im following this comment! where im at i usually shoot deer between 25 yards-175 and I'm curious about how good the footage will be that far away
What do you use for editing software?
If I put it on a head mount how do I end the filming
