First Bank was : Bank of Hindustan 1770 by Alexander & Company
The 3 banks Were set up bt East India Company at 3 presidencies
1 Bank of bengal 1806 //
2 bank of bombay 1840 //
3 bank of Madras 1843 //
these three were merged &resulted into Imperial bank of india in 1921 ▶️ then In 1955 SBI Act was passed & it was brought under GOI in 1955
Hence Imperial bank was replaced with SBI
Then 1865 Allahabad Bank hdq Calcuta
The 1881 Oudh ie (Awadh ) Commercial bank : indias First Joint sector bank

90% of this stuff is irrelevant and will not be asked in the exams.

I think there is a correction۔ SBI is the oldest commercial bank of India۔ It was formed on 1806 and it's name was bank of Calcutta then

These all banks were merged ....
But oldest bank which exists still today is Oudh bank 1881

There are 12 to 13 topics in economics & contains only 10 marks.. Monetary policy is such a topic where a bunch of questions can be built..I think to read nationalizations etc is wastage of time..For JKSSB one needs to be selective
