The way the parts of the speech that form groups are segmented is extremely helpful. E.g.: Subject + preposition + another subject = group, then the other parts of the sentence: verbs, adverbs etc.. also grouped. Some tutorials do not do it and I find it difficult to learn their way..Speech comes in 'chunks', word groups and a language is easier learned identifying those, as you do. Thank you.

It's not always the prepositions in Chinese that cause difficulty, but the absence of them in Chinese translations. A lot of times a sentence with a preposition in English often translates into a Chinese sentence with no preposition. This creates a lot of confusion. Would it be possible for you to do a video on that?

How do I improve my chinese more? I studied 10 years, but after graduating from school rarely used. Sometimes when my friends speak too fast, I find it hard to understand. Also, I cant express myself as good as in English.

I'm a starter, so 'Intermediate' is above my level and this question may show this. You use 'zai' (which I thought meant 'in' or 'at') a lot (e.g.: 'wo mama zai gei wo zuofan'/'my mother is cooking for me') ... why is this? What does it mean (if anything)? Thanks. Peter.
zai4 has many meanings. One can be used to indicate a progressing action like in English: I am watching TV. And it can be translated as wo3 zai4 kan4 dian4shi4.
No, it is not a mistake. The sentence is 由于时间关系，今天的会议就先开到这吧。 "开" is the action for 会议/meeting, because having a meeting in Chinese is "开会". Therefore, the second part of the sentence means literally: today's meeting will then be held, up to here (or up to this point) (because time is limited.)

Probably not in this particular sentence pattern. If you don't want to use "jiu4", then you can express the sentence in a different way. For example: 我们讨论了这个问题。

You just need to fill in the gap. Practice listening and speaking more, then you won't be stuck in between (intermediate - advanced).

谊 yi4 is the correct pronunciation. A lot of people mispronounce this word, because "宜" (the right half of the character) is pronounced yi2.

Yes, when the second pinyin doesn't contain a constant, we put an apostrophe for separation and to avoid confusion.

They're almost the same. But not always can be used interchangeably.

Usually, people omit "de" to show a close relationship. For example, my brother (wo didi), my mother (wo ma), etc.

The usage of 就 as a preposition has got me curious. In the sentence 我们就这个问题进行了讨论，is there another word that can replace 就?
