What you said are all fake data and false propaganda made by BYD. Even if these data BYD said are true, it is still more than ten years behind Honda, Toyota and others.
@@yulusleonard985 Very unlikely, because Toyota is rumored to rebadge BYD's last generation (4th) plug-in hybrid powertrain, not the latest 5th generation.
That's unfair to compare the numbers of staffs if you ignore the following facts. Telsa only produces 5 models, 2 major models actually. BYD has 3 brands and more than 68 models. Telsa now is using BYD's blade battery, its 4680 battery is dead. BYD is second largest battery producer in the world. Telsa only produces BEV, BYD's PHEV sales volume is larger than its BEV. And the latest hybrid platform (DMi 5) has better fuel economy than Toyota's. BYD has vertical integrated supply chain by itself, it is able to produce all parts except tyres and glasses. BYD is the largest electric bus producer in the world.
BYD is more than a car manufacturer company. They develop and make lithium batteries not only for their own EV manufacturing use but asl provide to other EV companies. They also do the cell phone assembly for many Chinese companies so ch as HuaWei
BYD's DM-i 5th generation PHEV employs intelligent AI algorithm to achieve the optimal power mix between the gasoline engine and the electric motor constantly. Although the gasoline engine's efficiency did set a new world record achieving 46.06% thermal efficiency beating their own previous record of 43% (note: Toyota Prius is at 41%), this achievement alone is not enough to bring the real world fuel efficiency performance to around 81 MPG. BYD's AI algorithm enables the gasoline engine to perform at its most optimal efficiency all the time with the aid of electric motor.
Lol, AI. It's just an algorithm, it's not AI, despite the label. AI is still barely in the intelligent LLM stage, it's in no way being used as an intelligent agent in vehicle systems management. It's a traditional algorithm.
Mentioned in the press conference: when operating just on electricity, it gets 10.7kWh/100km or 9.35km/kWh. That is more efficient running on electricity than most pure BEV for daily commuting.
@@dzcav3 Interestingly, the real world driving experience by multiple users have shown the average range to be higher than BYD's official 2000 km rating. Out of a sample of 7 users I have seen on TH-cam, the average range turned out to be around 2300 km. This may sound weird at first, but once you understand that BYD's 2000 km range is based on CLTC rating, then you will understand why. The funny thing is that the CLTC test cycles always inflates the pure EV range, but also severely punishes pure ICE range due to inclusion of numerous stop/go cycles to mimic traffic jams in Chinese cities. Out of a sample of 7 users, all 6 got much better than 2000 km total range, and 1 user only got 1900 km total range. Although that random sample of 7 is small, the result is encouraging.
Gas tank is 65L and with 90% freeway driving ranging from 90 to 120kph, the GAS only range is good for over 1900km. With battery fully charged, it can go almost 2100km.
Japan has never truly dominated the automotive industry. Japan has always emphasized value for money. However, in terms of absolute performance, Japanese cars are not better than German cars. But the situation is different for Chinese cars. Chinese cars are undergoing a global industrial revolution in the automotive industry.
BYD's fifth generation hybrid technology is a game changer and revolutionary which will be a must-have PHEV for the whole world in this transition period to EV future. Toyota and Japanese are doomed since Chinese now one level ahead of them in terms of hybrid & pure EV technologies, they will be another Nokia if they don't step up their game.
Tesla proved high durability of their elektrical motor. (Some cars sold in 2019 or so already got to the 1mln km). Anyone has experience with plug-in electrical engines icw the battery pack? Can they also last 1mlj km?(maybe the smaller battery pack cannot compared to an ev)

Just see those graphs yourself. Their sales are flatlining but they double their profit. meaning its more about weakening Yen than Toyota selling more. And thats why Japanese government are super pissed, they conduct probe after robe to bring this company down.

Not had a byd hybrid but Toyotas hybrid are the best on the market by far in regards of fuel economy. Based on real life experience. If you didn't produce so many videos covering battery news and ev news I would unsubscribe, as you do talk a load of goolies so times
Been saying this for years eventually Toyotas are just going to be rebadged GACs and potently BYDs marked up with a ridiculous waiting times and people that don't know how the car market works which is most Toyota buyers will buy them. Simple reason for the BYD seal not selling well in China is that there's not enough leg room in the back, the Mercedes C class and Audi A4 around the same size both have LWB versions in China for a reason and they have had them for a long time now.
@ eish3291 1977 is a highway driven at the maximum speed limit. And there is no altitude difference, not like some car companies, deliberately driving from high altitude to low altitude. In fact, if you drive gently, the range is definitely within 2000-2500. These range tests on the Chinese network are all live broadcasts of real road conditions. All I can say is that BYD's technology and price/performance ratio is just increidible!
How the hell did we get to a point where 3000 km range cars are being sold is beyond me. Most people spend less that 40 miles a day, which means you’re carrying around extra weight you don’t need most of the time.
This gets to the point of a PHEV. Daily commuting is covered with a plug. Then an additional 2000 km of range for longer trips is covered by 65l/17gallon gas tank, which is a fairly typycal size, but the car is more efficient.
They will have to be built in North America though. It's possible GM and BYD partner up and build factories here based on BYD technology and rebadge as GM or Ford brands.
Never gonna happen, Ford can't even build CATL batteries under license, what make you think GM or Ford can actually sell rebadged cars? Normally it would be China who bans tech export to the US, it's rare for the backward country to ban tech import, suites China just fine.
Wait. The Japanese engineers will come with new engine that is not lithium batteries operated or any thing to do with batteries. Battery operated type car dont make sense and not a new invention but copycat Japanese battery operated portable work tool idea to use on cars. It is a Japanese engineer invention and the West just simply cut and paste the Japanese invention to use on car call it EV is a joke of this century. Bad idea. Need to charge batteries for long hours and discharging batteries when driving longer distances and hours can overheat the batteries and damaged the battery parts to cause explosion and fire. Bad idea and danger about. Go get Japanese engineers to help make better idea quality super precision engineering and safety parts. They will commit kamikaze dishonourable death say sorry for making bad car parts technology. Guarantee it with their life stamp and delivered.
In the U.S., Toyota cars not only cost twice as much as in China, but even have to pay a premium to buy them. And in China, Japanese cars such as Toyota Honda are being marginalized despite the fact that they have been lowering their prices. However, Tesla is still selling well, especially the model Y. You have to believe that it's down to the contribution of car companies such as BYD, and most consumers are not stupid, they compare and know which kind of product is more cost-effective and represents more advanced technology.
I would not be shock if BYD replace Toyoto to be first car mamufacture. But I think it will take several years time. Toyota's profit is too high compared to BYD. And the product of BYD is much better and cheaper than that of Toyota
BYD have had built their own massive car carrier ships. First one of 8 sailed for the first time in January. BYD are serious and will make a huge impact on the world auto market in the years coming
I recently took delivery for a Toyota RAV4 Cruiser. I was a little underwhelmed with a few things. Front tweeter speakers were fairly poor and need to buy quite a few after market parts. Door threshold scuff protection on all four doors and tailgate bumper scuff. Lights are very dim and need to add extra lighting... so many things fallen short! I can see myself looking at BYD for my next car...
BYD Qin (classic, not the L version) n Chaser both have prices reduced to Rmb 80k (fm ~100k) after Chinese New Year. That's the first "punch" to legacy n featuring the slogan "Electric (car) is cheaper than gas (car)!". That's the reason behind the big jump in sales of the last couple of months.
I'm curious about the price of electricity in the US. The use of BYD's QIN in China is : the 120km range to basically meet daily commuting needs, comes home from work, plugs in the charging gun, and is fully charged the next morning. In my personal experience, it's not a trouble. Gasoline is only used on long trips, or in emergencies. Of course, it all has to do with the special situation in China. Electricity is very cheap at night, less than 10 cents a kwh. This could cost as little as $200 a year to charge.
It’s less about quantity initially delivered and more about how long they stay running and operational costs. A car isn’t a cellphone or consumer electronics, it’s a durable good so expected to last 5+ years these days with minimal servicing for most US customers.
And their power grid aren't build for mass ev charging stations, cause they r 100 years old, instead of investing on rebuilding the country, mostly, the west, invest on WARS!
For users who commute daily (use electricity) and occasionally run long distances (use gasoline),PHEV is a perfect solution. BYD sells more PHEV than EV. In May 2024, BYD sold 147,724 EV and 184,093 vehicles PHEV.

The fuel tank is 65L by the way. On solid state battery news there was announcement recently that 6 companies were granted 6 billion RMB total of research subsidy from the state for development of fully solid state batteries, the list included CATL, BYD, a couple other battery makers and another couple car manufacturers And speaking of PHEVs BYD started selling the Song Plus DM-i here in Australia as the Sealion 06

The fuel tank is 65L, not 80. I heard somewhere that BYD has 100,000 R&D engineers; it's showing.
They have 5x the total staff as tesla does. Makes you wonder at selling only about 2x the cars how they are making ANYTHING on evs? 🤔
100000 engineers only makes me question the efficiency and complexity within BYD.
@@Harrythehun that's for the purpose of speed of course, that's why they're developing so fast and expanding so much.
And how does the car perform in the real world, according to reputable, independent third party testers?
@@dzcav3 2000-2500KM
Although that random sample of 7 is small, the result is encouraging.
if customers wants EVs, BYD can give them those..... if they want hybrids, BYD can also give them those...... but Tesla can only do 1 set of customers
Gas tank is 65L and with 90% freeway driving ranging from 90 to 120kph, the GAS only range is good for over 1900km. With battery fully charged, it can go almost 2100km.

Nice.
The writing is on the wall. China is the new Japan for cars. In the next 20 years they will completely dominate.
You’re right up to the transition to ev. Hybrid is actually the winning strategy. Pure ev is only for the zealots…

Didnt Toyota just post record profits? Cant you just admit you were wrong and your predictions are just bullshit?
Just see those graphs yourself. Their sales are flatlining but they double their profit. meaning its more about weakening Yen than Toyota selling more. And thats why Japanese government are super pissed, they conduct probe after robe to bring this company down.

65L oil tank rather
2000 km seems literally physically impossible
1977km is the short test distance in all tests. the longest is over 2500km. 😃
Was the range test done on a race track or in city streets real world conditions?
There are other options on the market. Perhaps this long range is good for some activities....like a courtesy car?
The 3,000-kilometer range is due to fuel savings.
If you think it's too heavy, you can drive without filling it up with gasoline.
How you think things reversely ? 😂
Toyota Hybrids use 90's batteries technology.
Very reliable. Unlike BYD battery packs, which seems to be fully self combusting.

More likely a GM
They will have to be built in North America though. It's possible GM and BYD partner up and build factories here based on BYD technology and rebadge as GM or Ford brands.
Only if those politicians fxxked up themselves 😅
SAIC might wit GM since they have agreement.
Never gonna happen, Ford can't even build CATL batteries under license, what make you think GM or Ford can actually sell rebadged cars?

Wow
I'm curious about the price of electricity in the US. The use of BYD's QIN in China is : the 120km range to basically meet daily commuting needs, comes home from work, plugs in the charging gun, and is fully charged the next morning. In my personal experience, it's not a trouble. Gasoline is only used on long trips, or in emergencies. Of course, it all has to do with the special situation in China. Electricity is very cheap at night, less than 10 cents a kwh. This could cost as little as $200 a year to charge.
Meanwhile in North America we can drive a CyberTruck that might make it home from the dealership if we're lucky.

Just think the sales numbers if BYD only sold ICE cars!
It’s less about quantity initially delivered and more about how long they stay running and operational costs.
A car isn’t a cellphone or consumer electronics, it’s a durable good so expected to last 5+ years these days with minimal servicing for most US customers.
Every country besides China lacks charging stations/networks. That is why EV sales slowed down. That is why BYD showed off the 2400km hybrid car.
And their power grid aren't build for mass ev charging stations, cause they r 100 years old, instead of investing on rebuilding the country, mostly, the west, invest on WARS!
