I have no idea why I am so addicted to these videos. I'm 16 and not getting married until I'm like 30 or so lol. But the process of planning a wedding seems really fun
Anya Zamolo You may be a future wedding/event planner in the making! If you have a family member who is planning a wedding or other event offer to help them. You never know.....you may end up with your own business before you get to college. :-)
Thank you so much!!! You are a lifesaver! I was fiddling around with a 12"x12" sheet and created invitations very similar to yours, however I had no idea how to get the slip in rsvp cards to sit on the side! I love your pocket fold and will absolutely be using it for my wedding invitations. Thank you so much for sharing!
So thankful for this video! We crafted our invitations this week. Got 12x12 cardstock paper from JoAnn's for the pocket fold and found a free template online and printed on cream colored cardstock (also from JoAnn's) for the pieces on the inside. Printed at home and saved a ton of money. We even decided to wax-seal our invitations (though be warned, it will cost more to mail your invites if you do this - but we saved so much money making the invites, we felt it was worth it).
This was the best tutorial I found! I found the Recollections Adhesive Tape (Red) 1/4" was the best adhesive to use. And it all came together easier if you really creased your folds. I could not get the hang of cutting the trim with a X-Acto knife, I used my paper cutter.
This worked out perfectly for me, I used 12x12 loose purple scrapbook paper from Joann's . I was able to get 1 fold, the insert pocket, and the background for my accommodation card out of 1 sheet. Now each sheet was 99 cent from Joann's but waited for a sale and got it for 29 cent per sheet, the I bought gartner studio diy invitation set from Walmart, 50 for 19.00, in silver they also had gold. But this brand fit the measurements of the pocket fold perfectly. I thought I would need to trim, but no need. The Gartner set came with response cards and envelopes, invitation that I customized right on their website , and big envelopes, so that's 14.50 for 50 sheets of paper and 19.99 for the Gartner set plus I did run out of color ink so another 20 dollar ink cartridge. I would say this cost me 55.00 for 50 invitations that I love.
great tutorial! thanks. by the way the tool that helps you score on the scoring table is called a "bone". just incase you didn't know or forgot. thanks for the easy step-by-step! i made my own modifications but this helped a lot to get me started.
You did this very good! I love how you were clear about what you were doing. You explained great! And the invitation looks beautiful ❤. Keep up the great work !
This is great, because 12x12 paper is easy to come by, because other templates have been using 11x17 pieces of paper. Thank you for making it easy to follow.
hey there, thanks for posting this video.. I got a large order.. your video is the best.. my only adjustment was I cut the folded pocket tabs to make them more skinny.. (I needed more inside pocket space)..this was perfect thanks..-deb.
I've enjoyed my invitation business so much more since I have switch from being a full service designer to helping brides like you to make invitations yourself. Let the creativity begin!!!!!
Thanks for the tips of using the double sided tape instead of glue. I'm going to do mine facing the horizontal way so I'll be playing around with measurements this wknd
I really need try make it myself. Online wow so expensive and can’t find anywhere in craft store and thought about get a paper, get a ruler board, and tape. I do have ribbon and cute stamp. Thank you for advise and so simple. I make 150 invitations. I did order invitations stationary online. Really looking for 5x7 that I am look for. Thank you so much.
Best vid i've come across, finally have all of the bits i need that you have. Am soo excited to do my invites later :) will put pics up soon. Thanx soo much
Hi everyone! I has been a LONG time since I have been active on my channel. A lot has changed over the last two years and I finally feel like I can get back to doing TH-cam!! I am so sorry for abandoning you guys! Please comment on this and give me some video ideas. Quick update, I had a baby 13 months ago! If you want to see some mom/baby related videos, please let me know!
Hey, thanks sooo much!! Watched your video aain today and did a sample while I followed you. Very Cool!!! I'm lookin for samples, because I am makin invites for my niece's wedding. Again, thank you sooo much for sharing and the inspiration. Taylor:)
Hi Alina - Best wishes & Congratulations!! You're tutorial was excellent and very helpful!! I will be making my sister's invitations for her July 2016 wedding. Thank you very much :))
I am working on these now! Such a great video, thank you! The only thing I noticed is that you said half way is 4.5 but half would be 3.5. I think you may have said 4.5 because the mat is flipped upside down so half away from 4 upside would be 3.5 but look like 4.5? I'm not sure.
What paper did you use for the actual printed invite? It sounded thick when you tapped it with your nail. Maybe you can provide written instructions as well as links to products?
Is it possible to make these invitations without the score board and other things you used ? I love the method you used it seems very easy but I don't have the equipment or money to buy all of those things. Thank you
great video! question: can you tell me what fonts you used for your invitation? it looks beautiful and I'm having SO much trouble finding fonts that I like. would you be able to link to a better picture of it, or maybe tell me the spacing and sizes you used? Thank you so much!
Hello! Can I ask what is the exact measurements of the your violet envelope and the main printed invitations and ur inserts? I will create an invitation for my 18th birthday too. Thankyou.
Hi Alina. Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I'm beginning to make my own pocket wedding invitations as well. I'm also thinking of using the 12x12 cardstock from Michael's. I've bought these before and noticed that only one side of the paper is shiny, and the other side is kind of dull. Were your invitations like this when you opened them up - the inside is more dull compared to the outside? Also, what brand of double sided tape did you use? Thanks!
serendipity4x23 Hello! Yes, some of them have different finishes on each side. I went for texture rather than shiny vs. not. The brand of double sided take I used was scotch. Also, scrapbooking permanent tape is also good!
Also can you tell me the measurements of the white cards rock. And the kind of printer you used. I have a canon all in one. The card stock will not feed through.
Crystal H Hi Crystal! I actually got them printed at FedEx. I just told them what kind of paper to use... They printed two per page, then I just cut them myself with my paper cutter. The size was 4 x 6!
Please can you advise what weight is best for the invites? I have found some that is 180gsm but I'm not sure if that is thick enough for the pocket invite. Can't wait to start making my invites
Hi Alina. Thanks for sharing. What were the measurements of the rsvp card and the other two cards? Also, what size envelope did you use for the RSVP card? Thanks =)
***** Hello! Both of the inserts measure 3.5 inches wide (this is WITH the purple background I had on them). The hight you can make different lengths so that they stack nicely, mine were about half an inch difference from each other. The RSVP card measures 3 ¼ by 5 inches. The envelope for the RSVP card is 3 ⅝ by 5 ⅛ also known as an A1 envelope. I used the site www.envelopes.com to buy my envelopes. You can order a sample before you order all off them which is very helpful :)
+Chiedeka Hargrove (Charlie) Hi! I have a iMac (desktop). I got it a couple of years ago, I believe it was around $1400. It is a little pricier but i LOVE it so much. And the screen is nice and big!
+Alina Narr Hi can you help me by telling me if I'm thinking correctly. I want my invitations to be 4"x4" and I thought the pocket the invite and inserts go in should be 5" x 5" am I right? If so, what size cardstock would I need to make the pocket and what size envelope would I need to make?
+Chiedeka Hargrove (Charlie) The size of the cardstock really depends on your preference, but if you want it to look like hers except square, here's some info: 4x4 invitation should only need a pocket that is a quarter of an inch taller, so it would be 4.25 inches tall. The finished product would be 12x4.25. If you want your invitation to be on top of a mat, then the mat would have to be 4.25 (Width) x 4.25 (Height), which would mean you'd have to increase the height of the pocket by another quarter. The result would be 12x4.50 pocket, 4.25x4.25 mat, 4x4 invitation. So in the end, the card stock would need to be a minimum of 12x4.50, but I'm guessing it's usually only sold in squares. Hope that helps!
I'm not crafty at all and this was so helpful, thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to give this a try. Were you able to mail with one stamp or did you have to pay extra?
+Kami Foray I bought them individually at Michael's! I would take advantage of Black Friday coming up. Michael's and Joann's ALWAYS have awesome deals! Try to get everything you need then! Go online for additional coupons!
Hi there! I just started watching your videos tonight and I just wanted to let you know that they are so helpful! I am constantly looking around on youtube for wedding planning videos, and yours are the best by far!! Haha :) I had a question though, would you say that making your own invitations saved you a lot of money?
Hello! To be completely honest I didn't even look to see how much pre-made invitations cost. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to make my own. Each 12x12 paper cost about $0.50 and I can make one full invite from it, the tools I used I already had. I probably spend a little over a dollar per invite, and of course the time! But I had four bridesmaid help me get these done and it wasn't a problem :)
Hey I was searching invitations for my 15th birthday and I stumbled upon your video. I knew I wanted to do an envelope invitation from the start. I loved your video and I will be using it. A quick question what were the measurements of the silver envelope you used to put the whole invitation in.
Great video! did you make the actual wedding invite (type, print words) if so how did you do that? did you just type it up on work? Did you use the same scrapbook paper on that part to? I'm so excited, I have a guest list of 350 and trying to find anyway to cut cost. This is amazing for me!!!
Hello! Yes, I did all the wording myself :) I actually posted a tutorial on how to do that last night! I used an avery color card stock for the invitation writing.
Thanks for this tutorial! I started making these tonight :) Question... where did you get the large envelope to fit the whole invite in and the small RSVP return envelope? Do you know the dimensions? Thank you!
r365z Hello! I would say anywhere from $2-3 per invitation. You will spend more money upfront if you don't have the materials you need. I did them in stages... for example I did all of the cutting first for the folder and pocket, then I put them together. I feel like that was faster than making each one from beginning to end. Hopefully that helps!

Girl. Your creativity is amazing!!! My wedding is literally in one month and the invitations were the hardest part for me. I am using this!!!
I love this video!!! These are too expensive to purchase but making it yourself saves you a lot of $$$.
This is great, because 12x12 paper is easy to come by, because other templates have been using 11x17 pieces of paper. Thank you for making it easy to follow.
Only video I found that actually explains it and not linking me to a Etsy account ty

Great tutorial! Do you happen to remember what you spent total for making your 80 invites?
Hi. Loved your video. What if I want to use a thicker ribbon? Would it still work?
Thanks for your video's, all of them they have helped me in all my planning...
What paper did you use for the actual printed invite? It sounded thick when you tapped it with your nail. Maybe you can provide written instructions as well as links to products?
Thank you for this video! What size are your rsvp inserts?
I'm gunna do this but I'll use an ink stamp seal instead of the ribbon.
Thank you so much for sharing this!!! It has given me great ideas for my wedding invites!!!
.
You did a wonderful and very clear job! Thank you!
What do you call the knife/tool used to marked the folding lines? The one at the scoreboard.

Emma Williamson Hello! I would say anywhere from 80 - 110LB or 200gsm... Have fun making them!
+Alina Narr Thank you very much 😃
This was a really good tutorial! Thanks!
Can you guide us how to print through fedex please and thank you.
What is the thickness of the 12x12 cardstock?

I'm not crafty at all and this was so helpful, thanks for sharing. I think I'm going to give this a try. Were you able to mail with one stamp or did you have to pay extra?
+Lourdes Becker one stamp was enough!
Did you purchase the card stock for the pocket fold in bulk in just buy 80 individual sheets? I am FOR SURE doing this for my wedding in June!
+Kami Foray I bought them individually at Michael's! I would take advantage of Black Friday coming up. Michael's and Joann's ALWAYS have awesome deals! Try to get everything you need then! Go online for additional coupons!
Can you tell me how many metres of ribbon would be required? I am looking at 150 invites but not sure how much ribbon is needed?
+Laura Wing I used about 12 inches per invite... so 150 invites, 1800 inches is about 46 meters!
what kind of paper is the purple paper your using? I would love to make these invitations for my wedding

So cool! Greetings from Germany
what brand of double tape did you use?? I have tried several but they do not hold :(
Hi! I see you used A7 envelopes for the invitation, but what size did you use for the RSVP cards?
Most likely A2 envelope- that's how my template is set up to coordinate with A7 envelope.
Katie K she answered in a previous comment. She said A1
I love this
I so need sleeves for my invitation and I refuse to pay for them...I have to figure this out.
hi! what type of paper did you use for the inputs?
how big in inches are your rsvp, ceremony and the other card please
What size of paper did you use for the purple pockets?
what kind of paper did you use for your invitations ?
Hi Alina Narr, what's the brand/model of your paper cutter? Thanks!
Hey I was searching invitations for my 15th birthday and I stumbled upon your video. I knew I wanted to do an envelope invitation from the start. I loved your video and I will be using it. A quick question what were the measurements of the silver envelope you used to put the whole invitation in.

Ok thanks! Where can I find that video?
oh wait I see where it shows your recently posted videos. Im going to watch them now. Thanks again this is saving me crazy money! :)
Thanks for this tutorial! I started making these tonight :) Question... where did you get the large envelope to fit the whole invite in and the small RSVP return envelope? Do you know the dimensions? Thank you!
TeddyandLauren Hello! I got the envelopes at envelopes.com! The sizes are A7 and A1 :)
Thank you! These are turning out great! :)
very nice!!!
so cool :D totally using this some day
how much did it cost? and how long does it take to make one complete invitation? Thanx for the tutorial.
r365z Hello! I would say anywhere from $2-3 per invitation. You will spend more money upfront if you don't have the materials you need.
