    18:39 "It was fun" she says with a smile on her face and a flower in her hair. What a woman!

    Great race, great coverage. I like that it showed all the runners, not just the winners. Thx!

    I could swear Emily Forsberg was in a full sprint the entire downhill. What an athlete, to leave Allie O in her dust. Allie O is a future Olympic Steeplechaser. Killian and Emelie are in a different league.

    I was so impressed with this race. I beheld all the terrane they had to achieve, and I was very astonished at the way these women performed. Up one side of the mountain and back down, what an awesome accomplishment these women that were competing completed. So proud of the rugged part of life and the women that were willing to accomplish that which was before them. Great race that will not be forgotten in the minds of the ones that completed this awesome race. Thanks for posting. God bless all of you. The women did great, congratulations to all of them. A mission well accomplished.

    Kind of a bummer for Allie Ostrander, local phenomenon, and Alaska junior champion mountain/cross country runner, who would have set a new women's record on this prestigious course, if not for international world champion sky runner Emelie Forsberg showing up to run the race! She took it all in stride, literally. Very impressive performance and maturity from such a young athlete.

    Notice how Kilian and Emilie lean forward and forefoot strike on the downhill. All those heel strikers were putting on the breaks and sliding all over. Should the girl in second learn this technique, I am sure she will break the record some day...

      +Clint Steenberg possibly if Fosberg isn't there!!..

    • @extacywarrior2849
      @extacywarrior2849 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that actually causes shin splints. heel striking is alot better for going down hill buuuuuut okay.

    • @RichardHachem
      @RichardHachem 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Clint Steenberg No one forstrikes these kind of downhills. Look again Killian and Emilie were leaning backwards (10:11), they just have quicker turnover, take better lines and bigger leg strength to weight ratio. The second girl's legs are not made for this kind of downhill, but really good for roads, so she might only be able to beat forsberg on flatter terrain.

      +Dan Gahagan Yeah, you're right, I looked Allie up and she's turning out to be one of the best US runners even though she used to play basketball half the season, very impressive. She's very determined too. She looks perfect to become a great marathon runner and dominate xc meanwhile. Forsberg has no chance there. It's interesting that when it comes to mountains, it's all about VO2max and Forsbergh has the edge even though she's heavier, her engine is huge. Just like Kilian vs any elite marathoners. Btw, Allie had lots of experience, she's been running it for like 10 years, so she must be pretty developped for mountain running, but has a big future on roads, I'll be a big fan whether in mountains or roads.

    This marathon race is full of fat runners ..More running ,no more Mc donald food please !

    • @kristenfaison9053
      @kristenfaison9053 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That was a little uncalled for. No matter the size, people are still runners if they are getting out and doing it. You never know, they may have just started and saying things like that will hurt them and make them less motivated.

    • @itsdaisy101
      @itsdaisy101 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Really, some of those "fat" runners are probably in better shape than you are.

      It's a 5k and not a marathon. Also they all look conditioned.
