    The technique is called "Black Metal". :) Had the chance to see him live with 1349 at a smallish venue here. 15 feet away from him. He was shrouded in dark mostly. You just got glimpses of the sticks flickering in the colored light. The sound of power and speed coming from the void of light on stage was wicked. Never lost speed or precision; In fact, his hits only got stronger and more precise. It was amazing. Dude was a machine. Most impressive drummer I've ever witnessed in a live setting. Imagine your awe when you first paused this video, except you don't get to pause a live show. Relentless.

    Pretty much all fingers. You do get a little bit of a moeller type whip but its lower down, coming from your wrists instead of your arm. Key is to train each finger individually, and stay relaxed while doing it. Once you get the technique behind it, it feels like doing doubles, just continuously. So 16ths end up feeling like eighths.

    This type of music developed as a reaction to mainstream metal. Mainstream metal in the late 80's and early 90's was over produced and meant to sell to the masses. Soooo, these dudes over in Europe were like "fuck this gay noise, we're gonna make some actual music with balls" Thus Black Metal was born. Kinda... in a nutshell.

  • @ucitymetalhead
    @ucitymetalhead 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The costume is leather armor, dark funeral uses it a lot for videos and shows though his seems to be a bit more minimalist for obvious reasons. I got to see this band live and his sticks were straight up blurs in real life.

  • @Alrekrdwarf
    @Alrekrdwarf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's a technique where you kind of pinch the stick between the thumb and forefinger as a pivot point and you flick the stick up with the 3 other finegsr and when you have the pivot right, and flick with the right force, the snare bounces it back those 3 fingers. that, over and over, really fast xD. It's essentially the same beat as the 1 at 1:13, just twice the speed. You'll end up alternating your kick beats with your double kick when it starts getting fast. I used to start slower and speed up, before I cracked it :)
