Brits have seen this character's whole career, almost in real time. He first appeared as a reporter on "The Day Today", a parody of a News Channel that was spot on in showing where news channels were heading. We've seen him as the host of his own prime-time talk show, "Knowing Me, Knowing You", shown on prime-time BBC1, of course! We've seen his career nosedive and end up on the graveyard shift at Radio Norfolk, living in a motel and even a caravan, after his messy divorce, desperately pitching ideas for tv shows to uninterested tv execs. He fell so low that we could only catch him on social media for a while. ;) Then he made his big tv comeback as the co-host of a magazine show/talk show. Hating being only a co-host, of course and hating his co-host too! All this and more, has occurred over decades, in real-time! Alan Partridge is a comedy masterpiece! :) A deeply flawed character. He desperately wants to be that type of relaxed and affable tv host, with endless charm and wit. Unfortunately, he possesses none of those qualities. If anything he's a sociopath, with zero empathy and his attempts at wit are usually cringeworthy and so very self-aware. However through his flawed zeal, you do see deeply moving glimpses that show his human side. You realise that underneath it all he's a sad and lonely person, who's terrified of being himself. All the various stages of Alan Partridge's career have won Steve Coogan endless awards, both in the UK and internationally. You may also recognise Steve from various Hollywood films. He's a highly intelligent man, a brilliant writer, a fantastic comedy actor and dramatic actor too. Overall, he's just a comic genius and Alan Partridge is his magnum opus! :)
See his groundbreaking work on firing squads for naughty hawks 👍 You could well be aware of him through many means. He is crazily multitalented, and this is his very best character - absolute top-notch 😎😎😎brilliance. 😊 I saw him live here in the UK around 1998/99 (town called Bournemouth). Phenomenal ❤
I moved to Norfolk a few years ago, and it’s the perfect setting for Alan Partridge to have been from. Only once city, all the towns and villages are miles apart from each other separated by endless farmland, and I believe it’s of of the few or only county in the UK with no motorways whatsoever.
You do it a disservice watching only the highlights. Alan partridge is an amazing show / one of the very best Also get into peep show / that show is so funny
Steve Coogan… you probably know him from movies:- the other Guys The parole officer A night at the museum 24 hour party people Holmes and Watson Hot fuzz Tropic Thunder Percy Jackson Despicable me 2 Despicable me 3 The secret life of pets Northern soul
Please react to Alan Partridge/Martin Brennan. His funniest ever. His parents are Irish. The sketch is marvellous - he wanted to see if the BBC would broadcast it.
AP is a hilarious character. Whole episodes are much more enjoyable than highlights compilations.
Have you seen his Martin Brennan - one show sketch.
No good starting here, 'Im Alan Partridge' the Series is gold.
That first series of ‘I’m Alan Partridge’ in 1997 when I randomly stumbled upon it (on BBC 2 I think?)
Absolutely hilarious!
That was peak Partridge.
@@VoiceOfTheMatthew Perry loved it
Its a good idea to watch Alan from day 1. It really is good.
Greatest tv character of all time. Absolutely genius 😂😂😂

The presentation he does after piercing his foot on the spike is one of the funniest bits of comedy i've ever seen, shame they didn't show it.
Try reacting to Alan Partridge 'Stop getting Bond wrong'!
This didn't do him justice
A-ha! Alan Partridge is a huge part of British TV culture. Steven Coogan is great
See his groundbreaking work on firing squads for naughty hawks 👍

Cornwall, Dorset and Suffolk have no motorways
You really need this in context especially for a show like this.
You do it a disservice watching only the highlights. Alan partridge is an amazing show / one of the very best

Tropic Thunder...but his tv shows are parodies of the benal TV fodder churned out to fill schedules.
At the end when he's fat, he got medically addicted to Toblerone chocolate ..
You know him from night at the museum, tropic thunder , the other guys , and other films like that
Steve Coogan… you probably know him from movies:-
the other Guys
The parole officer

24 hour party people
Holmes and Watson
Hot fuzz
Tropic Thunder
Percy Jackson
Despicable me 2
Despicable me 3
The secret life of pets
Northern soul
He also impregnated Courtney Love and they hate each other 😂

It's best to start with The Day Today, a parody of current affairs shows, which is AP's first TV appearance.
Or for the true completist, On the Hour (its initial radio incarnation).
He was on 'curb your enthusiasm' , played the psychiatrist who gave Larry bad advice, might have seen him there...
This is early, stick with all his stuff, trust me he’s a legend
this is a deep cut.
Welcome to the world of ALAN.
Comedy gold 😅

This is all totally out of context!
Shame-he's very funny, but unfortunately he's a bit 'left-leaning' and part of the BBC 'in-crowd'.......😒
