Habs played better as a team. Monty tried to keep the team close. Only wished special teams went better that game. Kind of not totally liking the diamond pattern for PK since it leaves the backdoor open. Great that Lane got his 1st NHL goal and against one of the best goalies in the league.
If the Habs were a playoff team, I would definitely want Josh Anderson in the line-up. He is quite the physical force to deal with right now. He's really playing well, very physical and very en gaged. I think there will be a dozen teams knocking on the Habs door , looking to acquire Anderson come the trade deadline. Anderson can definitely help a contender go far in the playoffs, so long as he continues to play that physical game.
It’s good to see the good on a player. However, this guy is not worth even close to 5.5M he’s paid. As he’s playing right now I agree he’s fun to have on the team. But energy is all he brings (when he brings it)! He’s a up and down the ice type of playing, very bad hockey IQ one of the worst I’ve seen. Often chokes in important moments. As he’s playing right now on a 3rd or 4th line sure for many less millions. But being good for a certain stretch does not make us forget all of the above and that’s it’s most likely a matter of time until he’s completely useless on the ice again. The idea of Josh Anderson is what people like. 6 ft 3 225lb and strong energy output. He is very much idealized. But he is not what we want him to be, far from it. I don’t believe he’s a guy you want on a cup winning team. The work ethic just doesn’t seem to be there when you take into consideration not just a few games stretch but his entire career. Him having no IQ makes it crucial that he works hard to be useful. He should be working as hard and harder than Gallagher, Hutson, Evans etc, and he doesn’t. But because he’s been okay recently people forget all this because we’re so desperate for a big strong effective winger. I pray he’s not extended, he’s not a “gamer”.
Happy that Hutson got his first goal. Losing is not a way to build. The team needs to learn how to win. Somewhere in this season there has to be serious questions asked about whether MSL is the coach to get the Canadiens winning. Very frustrating as a Atlantic division is there for the taking. Josh for your enthusiasm I think you should get the Mitchell Stevens Award,
"Canadiens current 29-game streak without recording more than 30 shots on goal is 2 shy of tying an NHL single-season record." Montreal has a shot volume issue.
One thing I do not understand is how the Habs take so many high stick penalties. I was nowhere near a pro hockey player but I knew if I kept my stick on the ice I had a better chance of intercepting, deflecting, stripping the puck from the opposition or even a deflection will count. A stick in the air results in high sticking penalties, high sticks that bring bad faceoff positions, also, deflections won't count above the crossbar and there is no way of lifting the opponents sticks to steal the puck. Great show! GO HABS GO! Oh! And I bet Mitchell Stevens always kept his stick on the ice! 🤣
Yea I agree. It’s largely a common issue with younger players they are still physically maturing and adapting to the paces of the league. Muscle memory and physical conditioning is not developed so will be frantic and undisciplined reactions that they need to learn to control. The odd high contact penalty by Dvorak tho was lazy. A low quality play by a player who doesn’t bring much quality to the team. He won’t even be a desired deadline player with lack of contribution and 4M contract
You can add two Demidovs next year and you still will not make the playoffs. The Habs lack ........1) defense ...... 2) size ...... 3) grit.... 4) A coach who has already coached in the NHL playoffs.
Msl sees the game in the way he used to see it as a player himself .... However he's small.... And he depended on his teammates to protect him.... He has to understand that size and grit matters..... Also included is speed which he never had..... He was tenacious he was strong he was determined.... That does not make him... Qualify him as a good coach

@@robrick9361 Agreed, however I think Habs Management is banking on Slav becoming a star, hence the big contract. The other 2 guys are more of a crap shoot.
The “Marty needs to go” take is lazy at best. It will keep them in a seemingly perpetual rebuild. How about we get a real captain in the locker room. And Monty is good, but he isn’t top tier good.
How would any coach be successful with this current low tier roster? These players aren’t developed, inexperienced, lack consistent talent down the roster. Don’t compliment each others strengths. This rebuild is hindered by Bergevins terrible contracts haahaaa
Glad Hutson's 1st goal was a beauty. It was well earned. He was a good choice for the Mitchell Stevens award
