Good question, all you need to do is count the pins that are visible from the front of the lock. Count clockwise from the top dead center. You might be able to get a good view of this in some of the close up video we shot. Hope that helps! ~ Bryan
Thank you, have watched several U Tube pros and got no where, after multi tries. Half way thru your presentation, did what you demo'd and got it! Thanks.
If you're unsure about how many pins the lock has, the neat thing about a tubular lock is that all the pins are exposed at the face of the lock, so you can just count them. If they're too hard to see (too small) just use a magnifying glass.
yes, the info is there and well explained, but rather confusing in its presentation, due to the lack of staying focused on what is being done - too much back and forth. Good info though
Well I appreciate the explanation. One can always fast forward through a video. The Southord tubular lock pick works extremely well. The lock I had to open had seized, so ended up drilling out the lock. It is just as effective but very messy, and looks very unprofessional. Thanks for the video.
I like the way you explain things smooth not jumpy just lay it out there and nice and easy simple to follow your instructions I hope that work for me if so I would definitely give you a another rating from good to the best....
That's a great video, and I did give it a thumbs up. The only feedback I really feel compelled to give, which is seriously not meant to be rude, but there's no good way to say, you kind of ramble. The presentation was great, the demonstration was awesome, and you even got a Sub from me, but I'd suggest providing your commentary in a more direct fashion. There were several points I skipped ahead because you kept repeating the same information several times. Still, awesome video! Thanks for posting!
3:57 "Let's get into how this works" What the fuck dude. A full 60 seconds later and you're just now putting the damn thing in the actual lock. I feel bad for the women you date.
The tool used in this video is sold by Southord. they have three different pin configurations for just under one hundred dollars each. Bangood sells a seven pin version in three common sizes. It is just under thirty dollars USD. It is Chinese, made by DANIU, formerly HUK. It works well but does not have a couple of the features the Southord has. The price makes it a good starter, although it only works on 7 pin locks. If you find yourself really getting into picking tubular locks, the Southord ones are probably best, if more pricey.
Excellent information, thank you for posting. You might be benefited to write a formal script beforehand. Maybe just an outline with bullet points. This will help you keep your message focused and on point. Really enjoy your content, thanks for taking the time to make it available.
And when you are displaying an object in a video and holding it in your hands then you may want to keep your hands very still - otherwise the effect is the same as a jittery camera.
Hey how are you doing my friend Quick question Is a 8 pin Tubular lock pick 7.0mm a special kind of lock? Do they sell lock picks 8 pin size of 7.0mm? I’m pretty sure they can be picked but how about using the special tools they have for tubular locks? Please get back to me if you can really much appreciate it!
Just grabbed a set of these for the next time my car gets booted. Tried them out on my safe and took about 3 seconds to open on my first try. Kinda crazy. I'll be looking into a different style of safe now
@VentNation I got them on Amazon but they took them off last I looked to get another set. The box is all in Chinese so I don't even know who makes them. Maybe ebay might have them?
Thanks for the video and the solid explanation and demo. I came across this video as I have the exact same gun safe and the key went missing during one move or another, which motivated me to give the tubular lock picking a try. Here’s hoping I have as much success as you did opening it!
I have a gun safe with tubular lock with number 318 on it and i went for like 3 hrs with a 7 pin tubular pick today and did exactly the same thing you did and it wouldn't open. Are those hard to pick or what would i be doing wrong? The tool that i'm using is the blue 7 pin lock pick that comes in a set of 3. The roll pin inside the lock pick is very loose and comes off while trying to pick the lock.
if its a regular lock you half to feel it using a pick or something you can stick inside, or you might be able to tell by its length. If its tubular lock you can just look inside and see how many pins it has.
I know this was a long time ago. Thank you for the video. It was very informative. I hope in other videos you don't shake the objects you're holding like you do constantly in this video. Lol.
I have a sentry safe that I lost the key for when I moved. And I bought one of these, but the inside tube popped out towards me after I could turn the dial. What’s my next step, or what’s causing this?
tubular picks are nice but I think I prefer single pin picking for the fact when you are going to a job you do not no the lock and what size it is and how maney picks also to own a pick for each would be expensive and require a suitecase to carry them all as for single pick picking you have a few picks and a few tenchion tools that all fit in your pocket.
Ordered this pick (from ITS Tactical), took me 4 sec to get in to my gun safe. My batteries died, lost the key years ago... Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Chad, mine uses 8 AA. The battery tray is inside the safe bolted to the top of the safe. There is only a small hole for the wires to the electronics. Most of the electronics are inside, with a small ribbon connector for the electronics outside. Turns out, one of my battery terminals was corroded. After I picked the lock, cleaned the corrosion, put it back together, it now works fine. That pick by the way is worth every penny.
How do I get one of those let me know please as soon as possible I’d like to see a show more often I’ve been seeing others and I still would like to learn thank you
You are using too much force, but yes, that's a decent way to show how tubular pick sets work.. Also, the "tube inside the tube" is just a roll pin.. it can easily be replaced if it gets bent/worn, but that should never be an issue as the spring steel is tough and you don't need any real force to work the pick. Try loosening the tension another smidge and don't shove the pick in there so hard.. Usually a gentle 'in and out' motion while turning gently will work fastest and put the least stress on your tools.. All the same, not a bad video, keep tinkering and stay curious! :-)
What i wonder is why does device to pick looks so complicated with all those pines or wires needing to go into the lock. Those keys always look super simple
List of possible security features -security pins -offset cylinder diameters -more pins -dimple instead of slot on cylinder There are 8*pincount possible coding configurations. So if you carried 56 7 pin tubular keys you could unlock any tubular as long as it didn't have an offset diameter or dimple instead of slot.
I wanted to mention to you that compared to other lock picking videos on TH-cam your close ups on the actual demonstration are hard to actual see. Any detail I’m not sure if it is the lighting or the background colors like the dark counter and deep red shirt or a combination of all those combined by no means am i saying that as a hater or a jerk i do have a strong interest in this subject. And have. Watched a large variety of You Tube videos on many topics as well However i did subscribe and will check out any future. Videos you may post
Well it does say .. "for beginners." In the title. So I'm sure that's why he's trying to give you so much beginner info. If you're not a beginner, then ya, you'll probably be a bit bored or impatient for the first couple of minutes. But that's not his fault, that's yours for not paying attention to the title. Maybe you should look for the intermediate video instead. Thank u for a very informative video!
hello I am a beginner picker and I wanted to see if u might have some old locks or picks that u don't use anymore that I might be able to get from u so I can practice thank u for ur time
Lockport enthusiast for 30 years here. you can be a real asshole and get one of those generic lock picks without the set key, then you can pick somebody's lock, rotate it 90° and pull out your lock pick. they will never be able to get their device open again without destroying their set key on the lock lol
Good question, all you need to do is count the pins that are visible from the front of the lock. Count clockwise from the top dead center. You might be able to get a good view of this in some of the close up video we shot. Hope that helps! ~ Bryan
How come your tubular locks don't have the fin on the top ? I've never seen a tubular lock without a fin on top 🤷♂️

Thank you, have watched several U Tube pros and got no where, after multi tries. Half way thru your presentation, did what you demo'd and got it! Thanks.
Good tip and thanks for the wishes on our 300th video! ~ Bryan
The vast majority of tubular locks out "in the wild" are the 7-pin variety. Standard tubular picks are made for those.
How common is the spooled variant?
If you're unsure about how many pins the lock has, the neat thing about a tubular lock is that all the pins are exposed at the face of the lock, so you can just count them. If they're too hard to see (too small) just use a magnifying glass.
The only imminent threat on this channel it's listening to this guy try to explain something
Omg like going to the dentist 🦷
I found myself skipping parts then lost interest altogether, too much rambling.
yes, the info is there and well explained, but rather confusing in its presentation, due to the lack of staying focused on what is being done - too much back and forth. Good info though
Exact same. Poorly made video.
yeah i put it on 2x speed, this dude loves to hear himself talk...
Agreed

@@hellospam879879 Agreed, it was very distracting. Hope the advice reaches the right ears.
My 7 pin tubular started to turn, but now it's stuck in the halfway position. So, I can't even get my key to work. Any suggestions?
congrats on your 300th video!
Happy 300th. Thanks for the info mate. top notch.
Easy Peasy, thanks for the great vid!
Awesome video!
Four minutes into it....then he tells you how it works 😳
Do all tubular lock picks follow the same basic model? I'm looking to buy one but the Southord picks are quite expensive
Very useful information. Thank You.
Excellent, thanks thats the exact safe I needed this information for. Very informative
Ive neen trying for weeks. Do i turn and push down on the bar. While pushing pins?
Makes me want to disable the backup lock on my GunVault.
Awesome Video
Nice video mate
Great video! Thanks!

Great Video dude! it works perfectly!
The pin inside is the tension pin.
Some tubular lock need it some dont. But it remove the tension on the adjustable wire
will this picking tool open lock with "black dot"\security pins?
Witch lock is the most common the 7 pin right?
Yes
Really good, thanks for sharing.

how can i tell how many pins a lock has by looking at it, i live in North America if that matters.
Wal mart uses 8vpin most the time ;)
if its a regular lock you half to feel it using a pick or something you can stick inside, or you might be able to tell by its length. If its tubular lock you can just look inside and see how many pins it has.
Where can I get a Key made? I have the pins measured but I dont know where to go even locally. Is there an online option?
not the lock-picking lawyer. He'd have had that open in half the time. Good video none the less, thanks for sharing
What brand tubular lock pick do you have
You can take a tubular lock to any qualified locksmith and they can decode a key for that lock. It cost me $40 to have a key made for my tubular lock.
Or spend $20 for a much better lock.
My locksmith claim all they can do is drill it out for almost $100
thanks for the video
Where can i buy the 7pin & 8pin tubular lock picks at ?
I know this was a long time ago. Thank you for the video. It was very informative. I hope in other videos you don't shake the objects you're holding like you do constantly in this video. Lol.
Can you lock the lock that you have picked with this as well? What I mean is if I've opened something with this pick will I be able to lock it again?
JOHNNYCRAIG yes
Yes.
how do you tell how many pins the lock you want to pick is? Can that 8 pin tubular lock pick work for both a 7 and 8 pin lock?
Could this work with tow boots
I was messing around with my safe and this tool and now my key dont work with my safe how do I make my key work again?
When will these be back in stock?

@PHILL DIXON I lost the keys to a snap-on tool cabinet. It took me about 5 minutes to open it with one of these!
Crazy Horse yup lol it’s just the illusion that they sell
Once you un-lock something with this can you also use it to re-lock the lock? Also, how can you tell how many pins a tube-lock contains?
No tubular lock picks on the site....

It did look like he was using a lot of pressure! I was concerned
Buying the right tool doesnt mean that is lockpick, is more like a universal key.
I've seen a 12 pin tubular lock.
Fusion Developer send me one
where you can buy this key?
300 videos huh? Like a boss
how do you know how many pins a lock has? or can I use a 10 pin to open a 7 or 8 pin lock?
you look at the lock and count them and no unfortunately it won't line up
Covert instruments sells one that is both a 7 and an 8 in one
How to know how many pins you need?
Follow-up with the spool pins?
I might put a bead of latex caulk on the back side of that washer to reduce the jingling noise. Just maybe.

Holy shit, I own that exact same safe and the god damn batteries died on me. Took me a day to find the damn key.
You are pressing on it too hard, these lockpicks are finike, they will break easily. If you’re easy on it, it will last longer
Thank you for teaching criminals what to obtain to steal from others.
my tension screws came off the whole way and all the pins fell out how do I fix this any help from anybody
