I am well aware the genre is called "Instant Loss" in English. But think about someone who is not familiar with that genre seeing it and going "WTF is that?" Then think about how to fit that phrase into a sentence. Compare "She's already instantly loss/lost from the start!" to "She's already instantly hooked from the start!" There may be a better way to do it than instantly hooked that I haven't come up with it yet. But I feel fitting that into an understandable sentence in English works better than using the word "Loss"
In Japanese the phrase is "soku ochi" and it's kind of complicated cause it's one of those things that can have a few different meanings depending on interpretation and which kanji is used. "Ochi" actually means "fall" as in to drop, to descend, to fall, but can also be used in the context of fall as in "be defeated" (like "you will fall by my hand!") Using a different kanji it can also mean "fall" as in "be corrupted" (such as "falling to the dark side" or "relapsing back into addiction") and it's the kanji for this last meaning that you typically see used in stuff like doujin. Which is a long way to say that "instantly hooked" isn't necessarily an incorrect translation (especially in it's usual context) but it doesn't really fit for this video (Maririn isn't getting hooked on ring fit or being naked or whatever) and so yeah "instant defeat" (or "instant loss") would have been a better choice imo This is why localization is important and one-size-fits-all direct translations don't always work! TL work is really hard! Edit: Yura posted their response between me starting my comment and actually posting it, so mine was intended simply as giving my own thoughts on the matter in response to the OP, not as a direct response to/refutation of Yura's thoughts. Again, TL is complicated and hard and JP>EN is particularly messy with a lot of room for interpretation.
