Actually, Swinburne is still potentially alive at this point... hm. I think I like my theory better still.
I think the idea is that since Pater is Hawkin's adjutant, he's the best suited for the position of whatever logistics division they run.
I think Pater is genuinely schizophrenic or has some other sort of mental illness that causes rapid mood swings. Beyond his crying sounding very genuine, his AC is called 'dual nature' with the emblem being a brain with two babies in it.
@@IamlordEVIL Allmind's records could also be partially inaccurate.
@@IamlordEVIL After thinking about it more, yeah, this is probably the case. He may have something like a split personality, where the more opportunistic, bastardous personality comes out in times of extreme stress. There's another similar event in the third ending, where he starts out enraged that you killed a good friend, but shifts later on. The arena profile says he was always just a sociopath, but perhaps there's more to it. Might even be the true side effects of the augmentation surgery. He's an interesting character, upon further consideration.
@@truthchanMSV funny how later generation augmentation are supposed to be "stable" yet the most weird charactrers in vespers are later gens lol (Snail, Pater, Swinburne)
*M A B O I*
feel bad after killing Hawkins first and hearing Pater weeping, but never heard about his sudden joy being V.V
now I regret nothing
Thanks for this! I couldn't focus on the dialogue the one time I did this mission, and I didn't feel like going back.....
wowwww thats actually so dark I literally blew him up right when he said “v5 pater doesnt sound so bad” and I actually felt really bad
Lmao Hawkins was epic. That’s what I thought the first time I heard them speak. It’s rare that the people you fight are so cool in this game lol
I don't quite understand how promotions work in the Vespers. Shouldn't he have been V.VII at the start of this due to Swinburn's death, then Maeterlinck would become V.V in the event of Hawkins' death, thus bumping Pater to V.VI?
I literally just jumped down immediately and waited for them to appear.
You get a dialogue in which he scolds you for being an idiot and shouting that this was supposed to be an ambush.
Pater... Pate... Patches?
Even if they both survived, he'd probably trick Hawkins and kick him off a cliff to get his promotion.
This mission confuses me, when hawkins kills you and says "wish it couldve been me" it implies pater died, but in the escape mission not only is he alive and well, he is also promoted to v.v. so what happened?
Could just be that he thinks he's dead, it's not unreasonable to think he was alvaged from the fight especially when he definitely sounds like he has a grudge in the escape mission as V.V
Read the Arena biographies for the pilots. Hawkins is said to have deep survivor's guilt issues, practically blames himself for surviving all of the augmentation surgeries performed on himself whilst all his friends and co-pilots died over the earlier generations to essentially cultivate better surgeries that the likes of Snail and Pater enjoyed. When he says "wish it could've been me" he really meant it, he basically wants to die for a good cause to redeem himself in his own eyes.
1:24 i swear i thought Pater went "Dagh!" Then "Wha-?!"
Poor Pater Perker!
I wonder if killing Hawkins second affects anything in the Jailbreak mission, like if Hawkins is the one in charge there, and Pater died instead, or if it still promotes Pater to V3 and he still orders your death.
if his coping mechanism when he grief is his second personality comes out, it seem more rational
Pater is my favorite character :)
Funny thing is that on my first playthrough i killed Pater first and didn't really pay attention to his personality.
It was the 2nd one where i hear him go all nuts about being V.V, and when you break out he legit gets Hawkins spot.
Would getting caught with the V.2 Snail preset change dialogue?
I did actually try that, but it didn't work. Would be funny if it did work for a second though.
@@GreyCaliber It would probably take a decent amount of dev work but characters reacting to your build if you're using one a specific character's preset would be funny and quite interesting. Like imagine facing Raven as Raven, just really lean into stealing this guy's identity.
@@stormlordeternal7663 I can also Imagine Carla finding it pretty funny too if you show up with her stuff
"V.II? What's the matter boss?"
"Pater... something isnt right"
"What?"
"He's too silent.."
"Maybe he hopped off his AC for a bathroom break?"
@stormlordeternal7663 I swear there is one interaction? I think when you do one of the missions that have Rusty as a ally with the STEEL HAZE ORTUS preset equipped I think he says something about your AC being made for High Speeds or something?
Holy fucking shit Pater is scary.
Do they have unique dialogue if you show up in snails AC?
someone tested, no nothing changed
@holmesholmes.8784 i also tested not long after poosting this, just forgot i commented
Have onli wee could spare them
Pater will dtay in memory
Wish Flatwell had a voice line for if Raven just kills them out the door
Oh, so that's why everyone is calling Pater a psycho. I only ever got the dialogue when killing him first, really no other dialogue shows it so clearly haha.
Yeah. I know this was supposed to be ambushed, but I forget to swap out my shotguns.
iirc there is a comment from maxwell if he is alive when pater start imagining himself as V.V
i could be 99% wrong tho
The name of Pater's ac is "dual nature".
I didn't even know that Peter had two different personalities because I killed him first on the Bad ending and I guess I wasn't really listening in new game++. But when I first saw it I thought it was real creepy he went from crying over his father figure dying to talking self centered and not even caring abot hawkins
Is it just me Or Just you make your AC looks like ARDALEST?
Wait hang on how'd you fit 2 needles on the alba legs?!?!
Mabey he's over weight.
@@ixiahjhas to be
There’s an upgrade that lets you start sorties overburdened (it also lets you purge them on command)
It looks to me that he's playing this mission from new game++. By that time, if you've been doing all of the arena fights, you have all the OST chips you need to purchase every upgrade. So he's likely running an overburdened AC and purging weapons as he goes
His ac seems to be:
Head: ALBA
Core: ALBA
Arms: VP-46
Legs: ALBA
Booster: BST-G2/ P04
FCS: ABBOT
Generator: VP-20C
R-Arm: LUDLOW
L-Arm: HMMR
It fully utilizes the weight and EN load, no need for the Weight Control system unlock
PATER!!!!!
Pater is scum from the start
When he dies he isnt upset about his friend- hes upset that he didnt get to live a career where he was V.5 after just overtaking his comrade's title
THEN in the NG+2 ending (stop reading if you dont want spoilers)
You kill V.3 in a mission, the Vesper's Espionage officer, and you later see Pater sporting the newest Coral MC technology repurposed from the PCA, dawning the rank of V.3, shortly after you killed him.
Pater was all about the glory- he was like a Snail in the making
Guess it's his split personality/psychopathic tendency.
wish using snail's ac triggers a unique dialogue and also other acs for different characters.
Flatwell isn't useless, He's good bait
Also i find it mildly hilarious that Snail literally sent those two to die
wasnt allmind gave them fake messege to them for the ambushed?
@@s0meRand0m129 Nope, all Snail
How does middle flatwell know where they are gonna be if it really is snail? That doesnt make sense. I though middle gave them a fake message to set the ambush
@@killedbytheguardians5545 If you'll remember the "Kill Swinburne" Mission, rokumonsen, that ninja fanatic under employ by the RLF, is basically a master of information acquisition and high-speed ambushes (deduced by the fact that he intercepts YOUR comms if you accept Swinburn's surrender)
If ANYONE could intercept Vesper communiques while not being all-mind, it's that guy
@@monkeycake2612Rokumonsen's AC does have multiple allmind parts, and every other AC that uses those are all current or former Allmind agents. (Including the player)
Sulla has Mind Alpha legs, O'Keefe has a Mind Alpha head, Kate Marksen has the entire Mind Alpha unpiloted AC build from the AllMind arena + the same voice actress as AllMind & is probably just AllMind's humansona cosplay, and then Iguazu after getting assimilated by Allmind.
Then here are also 4 pilots highlighted as coral release candidates on the augmented humans list allmind shows the player. One gen 1 (sulla), two gen 2 (the player and iguana), and one gen 3 (unknown). Notably, O'Keefe, the candidate who refused allmind and had his coral implants replaced with Gen 8 non-coral ones, was Gen 2, which means he isn't the Gen 3 candidate...
One unidentified coral release candidate, One AC with Allmind parts that isn't a confirmed allmind agent.
And allmind suggests that the plan requires two potential candiates to fight in order to trigger "evolution".
In the same way that the Player is Sulla's replacement, Iguazu may have been Rokumonsen's after his loyalty to the RLF stopped him from continuing to accept AllMind's "independent" missions.
Maxwell?
Just a typo for flatwell.
Hi there! I'm making an AC6 inspired dating sim, and your videos have been invaluable to me! Thank you so much for making them. Do you happen to have this mission in Japanese?
Glad the videos could help! Unfortunately, I did not record this one in Japanese, sorry about that.
@@GreyCaliberNo worries! I just did the mission myself in Japanese and grabbed it. I don’t think I’ll need to be revisiting it either. Keep up the good work!
I really don't see why folks call Pater a psycho or having split personality. If you listen to his dialogues in the Japanese dub, and go through all the NG cycles, it's less he's being psychotic and more the fact that he's just coping in a messed up way, trying to hopelessly preserve his dwindling sanity. I doubt the arena id correct. That's Allmind's assumption, which isn't necessarily accurate to the intricacies of the human mind.
Wat is maxwell mean? His short call??
Which shoulder mounted cannons you’re using?
At the start, Twin stun needles or the Earshots later on in the video.
@@GreyCaliber thank you

I understand it was a necessity for the RLF, but I always hated this mission. Arquebus and Balam can suck a fat one - the Vespers and Redguns deserved better.
I new it Peter was his son ,poor pater hi got PTSD
No, Pater is just assigned to hawkins as his second in command. Pater is beyond having any sort of PTSD that man is a sociopath from what his data logs state
