That summer of 31 years ago Guiding Light lost Kimberley Simms, Sherry Stringfield and Beverlee McKinsey. And the folliving winter Ellen Parker. I think that was the beginning of the end for the show!
On another note. Its notable how these scenes went from an almost lighhearted tone full of banter, to dark, intense, and violent - all withhout skipping a beat.
I remember this scene WELL. Fiona's Jenna was as hardcore as Alexandra when cornered , especially when cornered. If her character had not mellowed, she could have been a force to be reconed with in Springfield. But that last scene....it basically summed up Roger and Alex's failed relationship - Alex thought that Roger lied to her and purposely set out to hurt her (as he did throughout their marriage), and literally grew claws and turned on him. Her viciousness was made even more palapable because she used Roger's most vulnerable moment with her, along with the pain of losing BOTH his father and son, to rip him to his very core. No wonder he came close to killing her. (that silent snarl at the end was almost primal). Masterful writing and acting all around.. What a time to be Guiding Light-and the critical acclaim and the ratings reflected its status at that time.
Thanks so much for posting this! I loved Jenna when she first arrived Springfield! Wish Hutchinson and McKinsey had more scenes together. These scenes were the start of Alexandra’s downfall...
This was great! Thanks for posting❤️
When Roger grabbed her by the throat I was in shock with the intensity of that scene
God bev that sultry voice!! What an actress
This is acting and damn-good writing.

Yes, great period of time for the show. I agree - they never should of mellowed the Jenna character…she was great in her initial years
This was the _very_ last scene McKinsey and Zaslow ever did together, and a fitting parting to their at war characters.
