    I like it. My wife and I travel the last several years on a 150 cc scooter........and we love it. I have owned big bikes and drove many, many miles around Europe. Now as pensioners we enjoy Europe with our camper and take the Honda SH 150 with us. Can we take a big bike with us ? Yes we can.....but we don't want that. We drive the small roads and see al the beauty around us. No high- or freeways for us. No stress riding around. Al we need. is a good navi ( tomtom rider 550 ) and an intercom system to talk to each other. (driver - pillion) No phones on the headset and no radio. Enjoy the ride. Greetings from Holland.

      Your description of riding with your wife sounds wonderful. Like you, I avoid highways and freeways choosing them only when I am in a hurry or there is no other option. I don't ride with navigation though because I enjoy not knowing exactly where I'm going and being lost is a gift. But I know not everyone shares those feelings.
      I'm on the fence about an intercom system. My riding buddy Paul has some kind of device and we've talked about me getting one. I've probably resisted because I enjoy the time alone with my thoughts. So we talk when we stop somewhere. But again, not everyone is comfortable with "silence."
      Thanks for taking the time to comment from Holland. I appreciate your thoughts.

      Aside from being on the main arteries at the busy times of day, the secondary roads I prefer are almost always empty. So if I see a few cars it's busy!

    There is a lot to be said for slowing down the pace of life, the Vespa like other small bikes gives you opportunity to slow down the pace and enjoy the experience. As I have found with my Honda C90CUB here in the Highlands of Scotland. Cheap to buy and run.

    I recently got my Honda Trail 125 and I love it. I took it to Moab and did some crazy stuff. Plus, I enjoy just riding around town or casual back country roads. Much to be said for these small cc bikes. Great video. Riding definitely clears the mind.

    • @ScooterintheSticks
      @ScooterintheSticks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Receiving a clear mind in return for a little ride is a big win-win. I'm fortunate to have so many quiet country roads to ride. That makes it easy to enjoy the small cc bikes.
      My next video will spin around the Honda Trail 125. All the footage has been captured. I just need to claw myself to the computer and do some work!

    A great quote I caught on TV the other week was, "Cars move the body, but bikes move the soul." Whether a person does it on a 50cc moped or a 1200cc sports tourer makes no difference, it's the beauty and freedom of two wheels.

    • @ScooterintheSticks
      @ScooterintheSticks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is a fantastic quotation. I'll need to remember it.
      I continual struggle to describe and express the experience of riding in many of my videos. It is elusive. I tell myself you can only discover it through actually riding. But I know that's not true. I merely a limitation of my creative skills...

    I finally picked up my GTS last Wednesday.

    I recently found myself taking a much needed break from work and started riding a Vespa. It's been very calming for me, and I assume that it has allowed me to slow down the pace and enjoy living in the now. That being said, I have some chronic pain from an old shoulder injury that forced me to take a break from riding. It's been hard to stare at my Vespa sitting in the garage, but I do look forward to riding again. Like you said, once you start riding it just lifts all your burdens and worries away. Safe riding my friend, thanks for the great content.

    Beautiful ride, Steve! The restaurant area and Main Street simulate so many small towns in the northeast.
    These main street's are making a comeback after the rise and fall of the Mall's.
    I watched Bob Eubanks from the dating game cut the ribbon for the opening of the Mall in Manchester Connecticut in 1985 or 86 and now the place is a ghost town.
    Thanks Steve for the memories.

    • @ScooterintheSticks
      @ScooterintheSticks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Many of the malls here are ghost towns as well. Kind of shocking to me. I remember how a mall was a destination. A source of excitement. But now with the ease of buying online so much of their business vanished and can't support those enormous spaces. Small town stores have become much more viable "destinations" for people.
      Bellefonte has a way to go but is moving in a great direction. And they've resisted tearing down the beautiful buildings to put up modern monstrosities...

    Another good episode Steve. Despite your beautiful scenery, I think you carry your calm with you - that's what enables you to communicate this to others. There are people who can ride through calm beautiful surroundings and still be wound up and angry, and there are people who can find calm and beauty in a busy city. If you haven't found ogmios on TH-cam, he's such a one. His streets of rage videos are amazing. I'm not into zen or buddhism, but I recognise the power of the inner attitude to change your life. Thanks again 👍🇦🇺

    • @ScooterintheSticks
      @ScooterintheSticks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wasn't always calm. Riding, and aging, helped me embrace a more mellow existence. Two-wheeled medicine is behind some of the reasons I make videos.
      Shame on you for pointing out ogmios to me. I checked out his channel and immediately was sucked into a video titled "Ogmios School of Zen Motoring Ep 1 - Scooter Boys."
      As I watched and listened to his stream of consciousness style narration I found myself nodding in agreement. Good stuff.
      And finally, I agree that a change in a person's inner attitude can transform their life. It's a challenging process though. Requires abandoning much of what you think you know or believe to get to the place where you can be honest about what's happening right in front of you...

    Whenever I hear someone say any bike or scooter is a toy I say, "Get it up to top speed and jump off. Let me know how you did." 300cc "Toy" motorcycles these days can reach 100 mph. That would cause a lot of bruising.

    • @ScooterintheSticks
      @ScooterintheSticks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, you can end your life at pretty low speeds. I think the perception of toys, chick bikes, and manly bikes are all a product of an irrational mind. They are machines. And they will do what they can do. I never considered they had a role in securing a person's identity....
