Wow, that was superb Dara, incredible edit and it really showed off how much you guys did on that day in a really interesting way. The info re “the Fourth of July” was fascinating! It did make me chuckle seeing how differently we dressed on that day. those scones looked fantastic, it’s actually given me a sweet hankering to go back there and try them out. Was so pleased Gary got to see so many lifetime firsts on that day and hearing him talk about the day was really special. We certainly didn’t get the best weather on that day but that seems to be the case for the UK summer this year. The fish and chips looked up to their usual standard and I’m pleased to confirm we have been back there twice since the Fourth of July to partake in them. The peacock at the Airbnb was the icing on the cake, what a great sight that would be at the window. We have to make do with two duelling male blackbirds trying to impress one female. It’s fascinating to watch and lovely to listen to but it’s not up there with that peacock! Really was a wonderful day and an honour to finally get to meet you and your lovely friends. Thank you ❤🇺🇸🎉

Great vid. It really is a beautiful part of the country. I've travelled up and down that coastline, all those places myself, numerous times. And yeah, Yorkshire fish and chips (not forgetting mushy peas) does seem to be a cut above the rest. Whatever their secret, they just always seem to be tastier there :)

Yes, Fourth of July is usually very hot and sunny in the US, so this was different! But it was a fabulous day nonetheless. And watching puffins fly is so fun! Everything they do is adorable... waddling around on the ground, taking off, landing, flying low over the water... I could watch them all day! If I weren't getting rained on or blown off a cliff top...
I think in this instant the Puffins have to share the limelight with the American Hunk and consort. Jill and Nick you guys ROCK. 🇺🇸! What a lovely day out with fabulous people. So pleased your friemdsmgot to see the puffins and add birds to his list. The gannets were gorgeous. We have them in New Zealand too - a breeding colonie. Scones, yes please. I enjoyed this video very much, not least because I enjoy a bit of ornithology myself. I don't have lists or anything but it is something that interests me. I'm sure you're friend has looked up the differences between shags and cormorants by now, one dead giveaway is if you see a cormorant inland, on a lake or something, then it's definitely a cormorant, shags never leave the coast. The number one place for bird watching (by far) I have ever been to is Orkney, just an amazing place. I don't suppose you will ever get there, it's just a bit too far I guess. You mentioned Nick had spotted dolphins. If you have good binoculars and stand on a cliff, if you spot a group of feeding gannets out at sea, it is often because the dolphins (or porpoises) are driving a shoal of fish up to the surface and if you look very closely you can just make out the dolphins breaking the surface beneath the gannets. I enjoyed your cheeky guffaw when you spotted the Casino Royale, almost like you think you have better casinos in America 😀
The cheeky laugh was because I think casinos are silly! But I would love to go to Orkney! I would also like to see Shetland. And I want to go to mall and see otters 🦦 !!! But Ian always says no those things as being too far away ☹️
Every time I hear "gannet" I giggle. Too much Monty Python when I was younger. The bookshop sketch. It is an absolute cack. I thought I'd better google cack in case it means something else. Cack in Australian means laugh. In British it means excrement. Actually it means that too in Australian. One of those words that have a double meaning depending on the context. We could say "I had a cack at my mate who'd cacked his dacks". How cool you got to meet Nick and Jill. The fish 'n' chips looked pretty reasonable until remembered it was all in pounds. Oh my, approaching Oz prices there. One of the reasons we rarely go out for fish 'n' chips any more. We do make it at home when we can get some cheap fish and prawns though. Your fish and chips looked pretty good. So did the cup cakes. I think I might go have a chockie bickie.
Dara, is it difficult to adjust to driving on the left side of the road and navigating the car from the right side then changing it all back in Texas? A LOVELY scenic account of the Yorkshire coast. Thank you for taking the time to share the beautiful photos. XX
@@ElizabethHonoria138 well, a couple days ago I drove for the first time in five months! It hasn't been a problem for me accidentally to drive on the left side of the road... Ian did all the driving in Britain, but then he did some driving in Germany as well. So I think he's adjusted to the right side of the road. No slip ups so far!
I am still watching so this may be addressed later in the video but in Yorkshire we say scone to rhyme with "The car has GONE" rather than rhyming with "Ice cream CONE". And although Yorkshire is famously God's Country, North Yorkshire is His favourite part of Yorkshire
