The comeback potential in Heroes is always something that makes me feel like a Protag's deck can do a lot of things. That initial exchange set this all up to turn them all face down... wow... just enough cards to turn it out in one's favor. Tomahawk... is it just legit... something that cant be worked around? Feels like it is always there... silently bombing the boardstate with aggression.
That’s not really a Protaganist deck. It’s an abominable amalgamation of Jaden and Edo’s decks blended together in a Ship of Theseus of a Deck simply called “Heroes” that comeback potential comes mainly from overlapping effects that play WAY too neatly into both to the point that it’s pretty much unfair. It’s Outable yes, but Drawing the out in Nibiru is not a strategy, it’s a Plan B with no consistent way of achieving without just so HAPPENING to draw it in your opening hand. Heroes have such a stupid amount of support and the fact that they’re split up amongst 4 different main archetypes and all brought together by the Xtra Heroes and Text that says “HERO MONSTERS” and not “E Hero” “D Hero” or so on, is just more proof that they really didn’t have any foresight to any of this. I mean, that hand lined up pretty perfectly to beat that board. Like they needed to have Book of Eclipse, a way to negate Ash, Droplet w/ a monster you could send, and a way to clear all those monsters (which of course Hero has).

Sure there is skill to playing meta decks but yugioh has never truly only been about skill luck has a huge part in the game as well which is something that truly is aggravating considering you can loose a world tournament because luckily enough the player had the out all the time, for example you can’t do that in chess because all the pieces your opponent has are exactly the same you do

Full negates board is very fun. That's why everyone loves the new superheavy samurai support so much. I still can't believe Konami banned block dragon even though there is literally no one complaining about it.
Maybe it's the fact that people normally run cards to counter said combo decks. Droll countering SHS, Manaddium, Purrely and DLink on it's own, Ash countering branded and Labrynth, Droplet and other board breakers too. That's normal so In most cases You're always prepared for them because that's the meta. Plus there's always points in a combo where a well timed imperm or veiler can also shut it down. Floodgate traps on the other hand don't lose to those cards, nor can they be interacted with by them and there's too little deckspace for backrow removal and that's not even bringing up the fact that most meta decks don't rely on backrow making those cards more often than not dead cards. So yeah floodgates are way worse because you can't prepare for them unless if you're willing to run bricks for every other matchup.
You just need to open Book of Eclipse + Called By + Droplet + monster to send for Droplet + 1 card starter that ends in a monster that can clear the entire board. Simple as.
Love this. Might take a few pointers from this. Was considering using the Absolute Zero fusion to summon to field, then "OOPS" remove him from field to wipe all the opponent's monsters. But this method.....oooo.
I remember back when the "You can't play" board was: Silent Swordsman LV7 Royal Decree And your opponent had to rely on monster effects to save the day. Good luck. Or Horus. Horus worked too.
This is why we need to ban them planes, imagine if he didn't had droplet or the book, ggs can't fight against that. I play a numeron deck and I am the "good guy" when playing against these types of decks. Gotta run 8 lava golems lol
God I hate those negate boards so much. Like the most I have one the board are two negates as there's more strategic choices for both sides and is fair than that toxic bullshit.
That's why I hate this and the SHS end boards, 1 DRNM or droplet, and you're finished. Best combo version was the adventure swordsoul pile that ended on the light lock and 5 negates with 1 being a trap. My royal Halq will be missed forever.
This is why it's easy to counter all these negate boards who parade all their monsters on the field. Tearlaments and Branded are much harder to counter because aside from interruptions, they can actually play during the opponents turn.
I don't think drawing the 3 perfect cards, Eclipse, Called By and Forbidden Droplet with a monster to discard and still have full combo in hand. Is "easy"
