Ngāti Kauwhata have always had a strong to Waikato and the King movement, however, after the passing of the Māori Queen those ties weakened. Now descendants are retracing their lineage back to their ancestral home and to the King movement.

I force myself to listen to te reo maori. Despite my serious TBI making me always fail level 1 at everything, i enjoy the total immersion in this language.
