Omg watching this in 2023 and still have TEARS!! The THOMAS FAMILY are the definition of GOODNESS!!
Right here with you. Made me cry harder than I thought it would
How could someone give this a thumbs down? Why? Makes no sense.
This family should have their pictures next to both courageous and forgiveness in the dictionary.
God Bless you all.
We watched this in church this morning, it moved us all to tears. It helped to remind us to act instead of react to things that happen. To forgive is hard but much better then to be embittered.
Coach Thomas was an unbelievable person and you can see it in his family and especially his son Aaron to be able to do what he did in the wake of this was amazing. RIP coach your still greatly missed
Anyone from Iowa know coaches like Ed Thomas are highly respected every where, Reminds of my school's coach if Iowans know him Randy Hinkel
Wonderful story of faith, forgiveness, and leading by example.
Coach T was a great coach and a huge inspiration for the entire state of Iowa. We miss you coach R.I.P Coach
Did you play for him?
A Great Coach, Man and Mentor, I will never forget you. You will be missed
After watching this I told my husban I want to move to Iowa and raise our 3 sons in a town like this. I will never forget this story and it makes me want to make a differnce in this world. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for posting this. It brought tears to my eyes when I watched it the first time. This man knew what was right and left a great legacy!
Thank you Ed.
Amazing story. This affirms my belief that one person can change people and an entire community for the better.
amazing story... & great music used at the beginning and end of the film by our beloved Caspian.
thanks for the full upload. i've been looking for this all week after i saw it. i heard of this story before that but i never knew the details. i never knew they dealt with a tornado and that the town was so small that everyone knew each other. such a strong family. i really don't know if i could forgive like that....
Thank you so much for uploading this! This video was so beautiful.
This story always makes me wonder about what could have been. There was an E60 feature on Coach Thomas as well. From the sound of it, this Mark kid never got the help and support he needed, not that it excuses what he did. I wish every high school in the country could have an Ed Thomas and unite a town from generation to generation.
I was thinking about that too because I also saw the E60. Espn did a great job giving this story attention. They aired the school's first game after he died. RIP Coach!
I thank you brother, for those intimate and ingenious words.
Bless them all!
I was in Iowa that night for my brother graduation in waverly we could see it from the hotel
I just got done reading a book about him and how it described him was unbelievable all the things he did but why would someone do that to him but god probably had a reason
Thats alot of courage right there!
Wow! Wonderful.
I remember the tornado and the shooting. I'm from near Des Moines, However, I didn't know about all of the details about the football team. I just thought it tragic to have the local coach and an F5 tornado wiped out most of the town. That just kind of sucked, I didn't know the role they played in bringing the town back.
Hopefully this is inspiration for the Wadena, MN who recently endured their big tornado.
Ed Thomas rest in peace
