    I just discovered tatting existed last week and now I'm trying to teach myself how to do it! Your videos are my FAVORITE! I can't thank you enough!

    I can't thank you enough for this video. I was having a hard time getting my J-Knot close to the chains. Your two tricks completely closed the gaps and it looks amazing now!

    Wish we'd had this before my Quatrain runner! 😊. It's wonderful!

      Thank you Michelle! But I think I used a Josephine chain in that pattern, did I not? Making it as a chain is another good way to make it more stable.

      Hi Marcia, I have free patterns on my blog but this one is for sale in my shop. I have added information about it in the info box below the video. I will soon make another video for a free pattern where I show how to make it from start to finish.

    Thanks so much for your very instructive and easy to follow channel. Just started tatting 2 weeks ago and have tried several of your tips and patterns. You've made in possible for me to learn tatting, after wanting to do it for 40 years! Could you possibly explain or do video showing the Josephine chain that's on your website? I'm trying to make the flowering quatrain bookmark but I'm stuck at that point. Can't seem to make either the Josephine chain described as I don't know how to join it after doing the 10 half stitches. When I tried the Josephine knot it wouldn't pull into a ring/knot (maybe because I'm using beginner size 10 thread) . Any advice would be helpful. Trying to complete the bookmark by Thanksgiving. Thanks.

      Hello Yvette, what a nice message, I'm very glad you are finally tatting! The Josephine Chain is really just a chain but it is made with only the 2nd half of the double stitch repeated, it is then joined back at its starting point. Yes, I'll try to make a quick video to demonstrate it. In the meantime I have a video on the Josephine Knot, have you seen it? It might help you with regular JKs perhaps? It can be seen here:

      @@11Frivole Hi Frivole. Thanks for the tips. I am going to try the Josephine knot today. Will share how that works out. Also taking another go at the Josephine chain- hope it works this time- trying to finish the bookmark to give as a thanksgiving day gift. Please continue sharing tatting with us. Looking forward to your new patterns.

      @@11Frivole Hello Frivole. Thanks so much. Really appreciate your help. Just saw the new video- happy you shared these tips. Finally got it right- so full steam ahead with the bookmark now. Completed the one shuttle medallion today - love it. WIll try making several to join for a mini 'runner'. Your videos and patterns are great. Please keep sharing.

      @@yvettedyer2396 You're very welcome Yvette, and I'm glad you'll now be able to complete the bookmark. Is it the round medallion you are making or the square? Either would look nice as a mini runner, I hope you're pleased with the result! :-)

    Thanks for another great video! Just curious, why not use the first half of the double stitch instead of the second half (for the ring)?

    • @11Frivole
      @11Frivole  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Juliet, a good question. I have tried both and I find that the second half behaves better and makes for a neater JK. When I use the first half, I find my stitches tend to twist and look less even. Try both yourself and see what you think. :-)

    Thanks for the video! When you make that half stitch after the Josephine knot, do you count that as a stitch or not?

    • @11Frivole
      @11Frivole  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Leigh, no, I don't count it.

    merci encore pour un super vidéo!! Je me demandais s'il vous serait possible de faire un vidéo sur le catherine wheel join. J'ai vu quelques vidéos mais je ne réussi toujours pas a comprendre totalement le concept.

      Oui, c'est une bonne idée! Ce joint n'est pas le plus facile à exécuter mais il peut être idéal dans certaine situations et permet un effet intéressant où le joint devient invisible. Je l'ajoute à ma liste. J'essayerai de le faire bientôt.

    Per piacere non potresti usare un filo un po’ più grosso così io che non vedo bene non riesco a seguirti sei bravissima sono anni che ti sego però un file un po’ più grosso mi farebbe proprio piacere

      Hello Giuseppina, apologies for not replying sooner! Your comment got lost in all my comments. You are right that I tend to use "normal" size thread in my videos (most often a size 20) apart from some of my beginner videos where I use really large thread. It's a good comment and maybe I will think occasionally to use larger thread. It's just not so comfortable to me and the work doesn't "flow" as well when I use large thread. :-)
