I just googled. I found the detail of a novel which is the foundation of this tv-series. I cannot find what era in ancient china an author wanna tell the story about. If I get it right. This tv-series and novel create the story according to Chunqiu era. Doesn't it? It could have been 400-500 year before Qin dynasty. OMG I'm telling you. When these two fight on this video. It recalled someone I know. He used to fight then tease his wife like this.
I only watched the clips. It's too painful all the evil he does to her and his obsession with her was too psychotic for me. I wouldn't be able to watch the whole series. 😒

This drama was great with some of my favorite actors and actresses but the storyline was too cruel at times. The ending is very sad but I loved it.
