Ah... my favourite review of the year. The Cudi review where only Myke likes it and everyone else says it's not their thing lol. (I'm writing this before watching the video, All Love DEHH) After watching: OMG WE GOT A MAJORITY WHO LIKE IT!!!!!
I actually can’t wait for the deluxe version of this album. After hearing ’Freshie’ I need whole Dot Da Genius produced project. A lot of bangers on this. Great album!
Most of his projects are produced by Dot dot is his main producer. It's not plain pat and emile anymore this album he just worked with diffrent producers
As a big Cudi fan. This did everything for me. When did Cudi ever do a banger trap song. Put the volume up!!! . I'm happy that Cudi sounds happy. Supporting that vibe for sure. I don't want Cudi to keep making humming vibe songs. Artists need to switch it up. Happy he did. 🔥
Cudi’s rapping to me seems very effortless. Like it comes easy to him writing. Not that he’s a lyricist. His lyrics are simple but that’s what makes what he’s says relatable through his lyrics.
Yeaaa. Unfortunately It was a miss for me and I’ve been a long time Cudi fan. For me it seems like the issue is his desire to deliver what he thinks fans want. That desire is crushing the very thing that made him special, marching to the beat of his own drum.
disagree fully. Cudi has never given the fans what we want. For the most part, he’s always tried something a little out of the box each time. I don’t think any fans were asking him to make a trap inspired album.
Sadly same, this felt so soulless. Whenever I say that people say “you’re just mad because he’s not making music about him being depressed” but Pain Passion was hella uplifting and I love that album. I’m kinda disappointed with Cudi sounded more like his contemporaries rather than riding his own wave…
Speaking of which do we need to have a discussion about where he is as a artist? Because if we really think about it his best piece of work is with another artist (Kids See Ghost). I was hoping he would make a great album after that (Man on the Moon III is good not great imo). Idk what’s going on but it’s just not it.
Yall are real as fuck. Idk what it is, maybe its that the youth are so enticed with Kanye and his antics, but it seems the younger kids are overhating the shit out of this one. I find older audiences that have listened to him for years are enjoying it a lot more. Imma be honest this might be top 3 cudi for me. Its bloated for sure but damn it is so fun almost all the way through
Not to copy NFR podcast but I feel like your show could benefit from having multiple cameras on each person so the panning between each person isn’t so nauseating. Sometimes people are talking over one another hard to focus. All love though, appreciate your perspectives
Really wasn't feeling this album and it's a shame that people will levvy accusations that "cudi fans don't like it because he's not talking about being sad anymore". While his introspective music is what alot of people like about him, sonically this album just doesn't sound as good as EG/MOTM3 etc 😢
People love to say Cudi’s music is for lonely depressed people. But his music is not just him being sad, it’s about being your authentic self and overcoming adversity. Plus he’s always sounded different compared to everything that has came out before. Insano sounds just like every other trap album. Trying to sound the same as the people he inspired. It was a disappointment
Cudi flow versatility and line delivery really shines on this album. First time I listened I thought the album was just okay and didn't think too much about it but there are so many little ear worms all over this album that keep me coming back. I swear "ooh, the drop" scratches an itch I didnt know I had
If your introduction to Cudi was his “A Kid Named Cudi” mixtape… you’ll probably enjoy this. This is literally that & Indacud PT2 hosted by DJ Drama. Is it introspective? No. Is it deep? No. But does it bump in the whip? HELL YES!!! The live show is gonna be dope.
In a way it has a “TGIF” or “king wizard” or “cudi spazzin” vibes. But overall as a project I don’t think it’s actually anything like AKNC as a whole. That record is very diverse from save my soul, heaven at nite, down and out, pillow talk, embrace the Martian, man on the moon. And has a lot more depth than this project… I like the project for what it is but it’s not really content filled. It’s just good vibes dope beats and cudi flowing well. He’s not sayin too much. I think it’s because he doesn’t have much to talk about anymore. He’s not depressed or anything so it’s a lot of “fuck the haters suck my balls imma smoke my tree and do me” type raps. Which is fine. But i hope he doesn’t do that on every album moving forward
Beezy should not be doing certain album reviews because if it’s not Roc Marciano, Freddie Gibbs, or Griselda. He’s not gonna like it or even care to listen to it again.
I enjoyed this album a lot, it had good energy. I will say though some of the front half of this project sounded like he was doing an A$AP Ferg impersonation
Ive been trying to get through this album for a week. The intro tricked me, I liked what he was setting up and it sounded good. But maaaaan its downhill after that. I have no idea why he strings his bars together in the way that he does, it sounds so scatterbrain. I still think he can deliver something great but yeah this one just aint for me man.
Im a hardcore Cudi fan. I started listening to his music cause he was not about the BS that comes with Hip Hop he was about the message and the music. He didnt have the best bars but he made up for that with his honesty. He doesnt have the best vocals but he made up for that with his emotion. This album is a clear indication that my GOAT has nothing left to say. Ill keep it all the way real, Cudi is tracing Tyler The Creator but no one notices it. And he is terrible at it cause Tyler has better raps! I am aligned with Pitchfork's review, it sounds very uninspired. It is time for him to give it up.
