Personally, I think this is a significant improvement over the old live version of this song. It sounds better in a lower key and Matt's actually playing the piano parts on the piano, rather than the guitar. I really like this. I do hope that they play this again on future tours. :)
@BATMAN Whoa dude, calm down. I'm allowed to have a different opinion from you. You like the older performances of "Cave" better? Cool, man. I prefer the 2009 and 2010 performances of the song. Agree to disagree. Deal with it.
No way, this version is lacking all the energy of the guitar live performances. Not to mention all the small guitar parts he adds, the soaring epic vocals and the climax at the end which is far more dynamic
I personally love this remix of Cave and the one they did for Unintended at the Wembley Stadium in 2007, I'm pretty sure it's because Matt's voice has gotten too deep to do the songs from the Showbiz album so they have to remix it to match the vocal chords he's capable of. I hope they do this for other songs like Showbiz Sober and Muscle Museum.
@@haralabospap7091 I never said he can't sing them, but they're too strenuous now. I honestly believe that Matt Bellamy's voice isn't losing range, I just think that he has to conserve it more now because of how often they are performing now, and their shows are twice as long as they used to be. That's why he could still record the falsetto at the end of Madness, at the end of Get Up & Fight and the falsettos in Big Freeze, even though they are not pulled off live. Just to clarify, Madness is played live I know, but he doesn't belch the falsetto at the end anymore. My guess is that you responded because they brought back Muscle Museum and Showbiz. But they played those songs on a lower key, and not their original key, so it still proves what I said. The Showbiz album is one that now has to be sung in a lower key, except maybe Sunburn.
@@Chico50445 yeah, I do get what you mean. Matt also has said that his voice gets tired more quickly (probably because he got older) but in the end he is not losing range. I still believe he can hit those G#5s (he did in the 2nd law tour on Survival, of course I'm talking about live performances). It's just getting more and more difficult to hit those notes as he ages.
The synergy between them on this performance is pure magic - magnetic, hypnotic, infectious… Purely in sync. One of my favourite Muse performances ever - thank you for capturing, and sharing, this moment x
To sing such a difficult chorus while playing the piano is really not easy... Sure, Matt's a genius, but what's a genius without hard work ? I can't imagine how many hours of practice are behind the concert awesomeness. Muse
Glad to see someone else reads Musewiki! It's so interesting to learn all the details behind the songs. Hadn't read about this being a keyboard mounted on a piano case though, or I've forgotten. Leave it to Matt to reinvent an instrument! Love both versions of Cave, with and without the guitar, fainting is a huge likelihood in the presence of this great band.
I didn't saw this piano version,by now ! It's brilliant, like all the piano songs played by Matt. But he does it so rare, lately.I love his piano skills. And i realize, that this is the best version of Cave.Overall !
I freakn love that they did this and that you caught it on tape... by far one of their top 3 best songs, and yet here it is done differently. Like the piano breakdown from butterflies and hurricanes.
It’s a natural thing, vocalists tend to pitch down as they get older. He probably CAN hit those notes, but it puts strain on his voice and since he has a 2+ hour concert to play it’s best if they just pitch the whole song down a key. Everyone does it
They took it down half a step so it's just under the bridge of the vocal, you only get so much mileage on tour when you're blasting out notes on the bridge usually.
Yup. This version with piano is better than the studio version. Too late to expect them to record this version LOL! And Bless Matt's voice because he said it's hard to hold (?) that long Caaaaaaaaveee.
Why? They're not crazy young men anymore. This version is brilliant. Just because they're not "freaking out" doesn't mean they're not entertaining just as well as they did back in 2001.
But they had a clever way of changing the song to fit in the half step down vocals, unlike other songs such as Starlight, Mk Ultra, Sing For Absolution, Darkshines and Madness where they simply tune down all the instruments by a half step.
They seem to be doing one song from Showbiz along with Host on The 2nd Law tour, if this is the Showbiz song they do when I go see them I might actually explode. xD
No better versions of this? This same performance but from somebody with a face view? The back is hot, but... Fine, I'll make do. Lol, old washout has-been Matt made it sound better than perfect young Matt huh? The possibility of old Matt being better is surely giving somebody somewhere a stroke.
The description makes me angry... their new stuff is JUST AS GOOD AS THIS. Stop criticizing the other stuff that’s just as good as this songwriting wise.
well I don't wanna be a bummer, but I don't agree at all... This version is very nice but I really felt that it lacked aggressiveness or power so caracteristic of muse's early years. I really missed the guitar I guess... Those high notes in the solo just give me chills
Not saying the piano improve sucks or anything, but i wish matt would at least play cave one more time with the guitar before his voice got destroyed in 2014.
there's something about this particular live version that blows every other live version of Cave away
my thoughts exactly
This song is soooooo underrated
Personally, I think this is a significant improvement over the old live version of this song. It sounds better in a lower key and Matt's actually playing the piano parts on the piano, rather than the guitar. I really like this. I do hope that they play this again on future tours. :)
@BATMAN Agree to disagree then, I suppose. 🙂

@AllenMZim
Agree. LOVE the jazz flavour. They should do a jazz album!

SnakeEater866 Do you still believe that Matt can't sing songs from showbiz?
He uses falsetto to allow him to reach those notes though
@@haralabospap7091 I never said he can't sing them, but they're too strenuous now. This isn't a remix. More of a rearrangement

I really love this version of cave omg
This version is pure perfection omg! ♥

man he sounds so good here
I’m a guitarist but this song belongs on the piano and his voice is just incredible
It is good, but guitar version still wins. Especially the lives during the Showbiz era

omg their smiles! :') This piano version is brilliant! I think they realized that. :)
i've never paid much attention to this song, but now i think i'm falling in love with it.. especially the piano ending is awesome!

Outstanding performance, Love it
You can hear that he has more control in the chorus, but just can't do it as high

Beautiful this version of Cave with the piano!! Very different...👏😍❤
Actually you did a pretty good job at filming..
that chorus.....
Merci beaucoup June! Great to have some footage of a truly spectacular gig!
The way he sings "awaaAAAYYYYyyyy..."
Amazing version ;)
watching this vs the one from 2000, dom's drumming style has changed a lot. smoll dom on drum he looks very aggressive. now dom looks a lot cooler 🥹
They took it down half a step so it's just under the bridge of the vocal, you only get so much mileage on tour when you're blasting out notes on the bridge usually.
The best version of cave ever!, perfect perfomace

What a lovely back view of Matt for a change!
I love this sooo much, thank you very much !!!
That piano part around 3:00 sounds the same as the intro before Screenager on Hullabaloo.
+scndsky Yeah it's the piano middle part from Butterflies & Hurricanes
the ending part so beautiful ! :')
Aww look at Dom's hair move in the breeze :p
Excellent job! Brilliant, even. Everyone is visible for most of it.
If I were there I would probably faint.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing.
Just a big shout out to the camera person, all three in frame for the entirety of the song
Muito Bom! Fantástico essa versão!
No thumps down!!!!
I love you all Muse fans!!! Including myself!
i can't stop watching this video!
This takes me back! MMMmm :D I was quite close to where you were from the looks of it
wow new favorite live song? i think yes.
Omb!! So glad i found this!! -3
Why? They're not crazy young men anymore. This version is brilliant. Just because they're not "freaking out" doesn't mean they're not entertaining just as well as they did back in 2001.
@LoveConnieAndTH he plays a keyboard just mounted into a grand piano case, thats where he gets the effects :) it says so on musewiki
FUCKING EPIC!
Oh fack it's 1/2 tuned down... -_-
But they had a clever way of changing the song to fit in the half step down vocals, unlike other songs such as Starlight, Mk Ultra, Sing For Absolution, Darkshines and Madness where they simply tune down all the instruments by a half step.
oh yeah I don't matter, it's just that I didn't realise instantatly :)
when matt turn this song into resistance ver with that piano 😂👌🏼
damn thats good, filming! i wish i could film quality videos!
MY GOSH
nooooooooo. They played some awesome congs on the 13th! Unfair
They seem to be doing one song from Showbiz along with Host on The 2nd Law tour, if this is the Showbiz song they do when I go see them I might actually explode. xD
carbutty What show were you at? 😛
Thank you! I must buy a Lumix before October. :)
Yeah sure, but I love the view, don't know why. and, the sound is great :p
@SquintyFries yeah well, he actually doesn't take a good look at the end, it's filled with lights, not strings
i like the early live version better
that description lol
oh wow, right before the outro, he plays the butterfly and hurricanes piano solo. anyone else notice that?
wow i came here from a video of them performing this song in 2000... :P
god i love this on piano ;) i have 2 learn how 2 play this version ;)
@TheGloriousFury Sound effect on a piano ? That's just a normal piano I think... there's a pedal, that's it
I went on the 12th still awesome tho
if they played this at the MEN this year, omg
but they sing it in a lower key now so he can sing it easily I think..
@thechaircover That's exactly what I said - practice and experience, in other words, hard work !
@jemappellejune which camera did you use? (sorry if you've already said it)
This video is perfect.
And this version of Cave.. Powerful
Go back to the d minor guitar version and freaking out on stage like in 2001.
do you think matt has a little bit lost his breath ??
im sure about the vocal range , cuase of age .
what you think about his breath ??
Doo ji doo ji

Lol, old washout has-been Matt made it sound better than perfect young Matt huh? The possibility of old Matt being better is surely giving somebody somewhere a stroke.
Not the same being on piano. Bring it back to guitar.
i personally think its much cooler this way and suits Muse better now that they are older.
@@DonHaka not the same but still really good. the outro needs the guitar though
Its impresionant that Matt hates this song !
*Cave* version *United States Of Eurasia*
The description makes me angry... their new stuff is JUST AS GOOD AS THIS. Stop criticizing the other stuff that’s just as good as this songwriting wise.
@LoveConnieAndTH Its not that hard to sing whilst playing piano, its called practice and expirience
well I don't wanna be a bummer, but I don't agree at all...
Oh nom Why ruining such a great song?
Fuck u . This is perfect ;)
Lacks the punch and energy of the live guitar performances, especially the outro.
