I remember we went here in 1989 I don't remember it being called the hogle zoo I thought it was just the salt lake City zoo has it always been named hoagle ??
I am not sure when it was renamed. But it is named after James E. Hogle Jr who was a board of dirdctor for 40 years and he was part of the family who dedicated the land for zoo.
I stopped visiting this zoo in the 90s when we went once and 90% of the animals had covers on the windows with notes apologizing and the animals were sick and couldnt be viewd. Not one zoo in the world gives these animals enough space to live like they would in the wild. But people chose to claim they "save" or "rescue" all these anmials and then monetize off of them. Boycott zoos! Its unfortunate that this is actually legal
Ngl the zoo kinda is boring and disappointing we went there like 4 or 5 time in my life time and my experience was good but also bad it mostly had rides and less animals and the animals you see are really cool but there either inside resting or just out resting. But the San Francisco zoo is way better because you see animal nearly everywhere you go and less rides there

Went to this zoo in June 2023, and was very disappointed, not what they show on the video in fact I was so bored we left.
Me too went at same time and I like it more when I last visited in 2016.
