Thank you for your generosity in sharing your jig, and the humor in the actually deadly serious shop rules. In my shop I also have a rule that all steel will burn you; too many people think black steel out of the fire must be safe to handle.

Thanks, I hope these things help.
My main problem is juggling obligations, I could do a flow chart of how to sort out friends and family and work.

This is another GREAT video..on so many levels.. I really like the flow chart..and the shop rules. I don't want to depreciate your expertise and experience by saying ..I see similarities between your ways..and mine.. but there are some. You're way more advanced. Thanks for sharing!

The problems of small shops are the same, so no wonder the rules are alike.
If your people didn't need the rules , they would be off running their own shops.
Some go and try that after a couple years and come back to tell me that they needed even more rules .

I hear you on the cold. Im not having a very fun time in it either.
Edit: that saftey rule bit definitely deserves its own video! Seeing as most of the machines I work with on a daily basis were all made in the 30’s or 40’s, they lack all but the most basic saftey bits (and by basic I mean having the common sense not to stick your body parts in the exposed belts and gears) So I decorated them with some of the hilarious (and profane) saftey stickers you occasionally find. I think my favorite is “this equipment poses serious risk to >male anatomymale anatomy< into equipment” with an equally funny diagram printed on it.

      Yes, cold slows everything down.
Having fun with the safety rules helps people remember them. Getting chewed up by the equipment really slows things down! I painted the worst parts of some equipment in bright safety colors and the made guards and cages .
Stay safe , don;t break the bleeding rule!

I did not put in some of the other shop rules and charts, mostly because they might take the video down, got to keep it PG-13

      Hi Ryan:
Good to see you have made it thru the current Apocalypse! No, people still don't think much about what they are doing , and it is't that they want to make trouble for others , it's a lack of time. They react and it can be kind of random.
Hope you are doing fun stuff!

..Great jig Professor! There have to be some rules in a shop. i tell my gran-brats this- most everything in this shop can injure or kill you or me, so don't touch without me supervising...

Little ones are so fast, lots of energy!
One of my first jobs was in a scrap yard, you learn fast that stuff can hurt you.

      Hi:
What would you like to know? I am never sure what may be missing from the video that would help make it more understandable.
