Extra tip: For those of you who are taking pictures with your phones, use your earbuds as the remote control! Just simply plug em' in, go to the camera, and press the button(s) on your earbuds! :D
Anyone else here for nostalgia, I used this video as my guide and wasn't bad at it ( but not good) and I enjoyed it. Thanks for making part of my childhood
Around 7 years ago I saw this video as a kid, I also wanted to make Lego stop motions so I did. I remember I cam from school and work on this huge stop motion video. Now I don’t make stop motions anymore, but I make Lego 3D animations. I just want to thank you for inspiring me to do Lego animations. You have been a huge inspiration❤❤❤
This question I get sooooo often, until I get around to making a video about it, this text response will have to do. Get the images onto your computer somehow. Open up your default video editing software (Windows Movie Maker or iMovie). Go to preferences and change the default picture length to about 0.1 seconds. Then drag your pictures into the video editor. Then export/finalize the video :) To add voices, look up "how to add voice in windows movie maker" on TH-cam. Other tutorials exist.
This helped me a lot when I was younger. I recommend this video for beginners. Although after 5 years (and more) of animation, I can see some flaws in this that a more advanced animator might not do. Really great tutorial!
Algorism brought me back! I was 11 back then and watched ur video as a tutorial. I even made 2 animations! I remember that the lighting was a problem to me. I had no light stands as yours at home so all pictures I took had a different brightness :( But it was a big fun for me at my childhood. So thank you for making this vid back then😁 Hope u stay well !!
I remember wanting to make stop motions when I was only 5 years old but I never knew how to put it together or anything like that but thanks to you I have a better understanding of stop-motion.
Thank you so much for this tutorial I'm planing to do a stop motion Lego series for my channel but I needed help and you told me every thing I need to know thank you. P.S I LOVE LEGOS!!! keep up the good work.
Thanks for making this video. It's really helpful. When you are talking about using baking paper to cover the lamps, could this be a fire hazard? Thanks in advance
Ok, thanks a lot for the quick reply! I also forgot to ask, when using a lamp to make stop motion films, the result of the pictures are often different, what I mean is some of the images are darker than others and it ends up being very flickery when they are all compiled together. Could you please recommend what I do to resolve this? Thanks
TheVMan This has a lot to do with your camera settings. Try to set as many settings as you can to manual so that they don't change between shots. More info: th-cam.com/video/LPYkHRryxMA/w-d-xo.html Also make sure sunlight isn't overpowering the lamps.
Use some support bricks to prop up the figure, then take a picture of the background, then for each picture (this might take some time) crop some of the background over the bricks in the first picture.
I don’t have a high quality camera cos I’m only 11, so I do it on my iPad and make it in an app called stop motion, then once I’m done I save the video and add sound FX and audio there. I know I’m late but I felt like it’s better late than never, so I sort of hope I helped.
You can use your phone or tablet instead and use earbuds with a button to take pictures. Just download a stop motion app and click the button on the earbuds to take pictures.
This is extremely helpful, thank you! My boyfriend has a massive lego collection over the last 20+ years and I've always said he could do some amazing videos, but I've never known how to even begin! Now we can try! haha
Stop motion is a type of animation. Cartoons are animations and ones like Star Wars the clone wars. They are 3D animations with the affect of a 3D environment
depends what apps you use. If you use stop motion the app and iMovie you can make pretty good stop motions depending on how good you are at making them, but yes you can.
Hey, thanks for making this video. It was very helpful. My daughter has shown interest in making these movies and we have already made one before watching any tutorials. Your video has some good tips for our next one.
I've made stop motion films using my Ipod Touch a few years ago. It turned out pretty well other than the fact that I didn't really have much experience, I was young, and I wasn't using a stand to take the shots; so wobbleness in my films. The latest SMA I've made I used the webcam on my computer. (My Ipod broke and I didn't really have a camera :/) I'm still an amateur at stop motion, just now getting back into it.
when I press the shutter button the camera doesn't move a bit... It depends on how hard u press it, and if u have it fast and secured as u take a photo, it's all good!
I have a question you might be able to answer. I created a brick film about a video game using LEGO bricks. how do I protect my work without getting in trouble from both LEGO and the video game producers
Do you drill your tri pod to the floor to prevent wobbling? And if you can't do this at home should you place the tripod on wood or carpet. Or does it not matter?
well i have light flickering in one of my stop motions but thats because the light was supposed to flicker because it was meant to fall out of the ceiling an crush the Marine
I get you can take a picture of it but how do yoy make I fall without your hand being in it. Do you like drop it accurately and then cut out the film when he falls and then make it better or is there another trick?
Extra tip:
For those of you who are taking pictures with your phones,
use your earbuds as the remote control!
Just simply plug em' in, go to the camera, and press the button(s) on your earbuds!
:D
or use a timer set to 1 sec ;)
Thanks, I wasn't thinking about that
Good idea
+Kosuke Neroshima Thank you! :D

Good tip!
well the camera still moves
you can also hook it up to your computer
Thank you!!!

How do you blend all the pictures together? Pls help
A editing program such as dragon frame.
Or stop motion studio on your phone or tablet.
Thanks for the tips. I also like how you have a white wall on the side of your set to reflect light back on to your set. Your videos are funny.
how do you add the noise??? I need noise in the animation I'm making
go search for sound effects
i recommend the resources page on brickfilms.com
I recommend footagecrate.com
Without this video, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
Thanks, Jett!
Thanks for making this video. It's really helpful. When you are talking about using baking paper to cover the lamps, could this be a fire hazard? Thanks in advance
TheVMan Thanks! Since baking paper is designed to go in ovens, it seems fine. Just try not to let the bulbs touch the paper as an extra precaution.

Ffrangconator thanks again. You might've just become my favourite youtuber....
I don't have camera
i just gotta say i love all of your videos, but this gave me a idea and now i started! thanks!! :)
I have just updated my website with some helpful tutorial videos not by me, including falling/jumping. Link in description.
This was hilarious. Also the best tutorial I've ever seen...Thumbs░▓╪
How can you make them LEGO Figures fly?
Kenny wong or green screen
Dan TDM . use the green screen
Use some support bricks to prop up the figure, then take a picture of the background, then for each picture (this might take some time) crop some of the background over the bricks in the first picture.
Double Trouble Queen Or use transparent studs
Holy crap. This helped like a lot. I will have to look back on this when I make my Lego Stopmotions!!!!
Ok am trying
I love your stop motion animations, your humor is awesome. Thanks for the tips.
I'm the only one that pooped my pants at? 02:26
I learnt lots of things in the first 3 seconds! This video is a great help.
Where do you put the pictures?
Some cameras come with a USB port to your computer. From there I assume you upload them and put them together on a video editor.
Syiktus Ok thanks
+Syiktus i have a tablet it wont work
LEGO LAND Of course it's not going to work on your tablet. You need an actual camera.
Just get a tablet editing software
Wow after i watched this my stopmotions got soooo much better THX
Just curious, how do you add audio? Is there a specific app that you use?
That's what I wondered
try imovie?
I don’t have a high quality camera cos I’m only 11, so I do it on my iPad and make it in an app called stop motion, then once I’m done I save the video and add sound FX and audio there. I know I’m late but I felt like it’s better late than never, so I sort of hope I helped.
Impressively professional. Well done!
I don't have a Camera.
Mario and Sonic Fan1386 phone, tablet?

raych8283 Good point about using the button on earbuds, that's such a good idea if you want to use your phone or tablet.
thnx

yeager bombastic use earphones to easily take pics if using phone!!😅
This is extremely helpful, thank you! My boyfriend has a massive lego collection over the last 20+ years and I've always said he could do some amazing videos, but I've never known how to even begin! Now we can try! haha

Thank you so much. After watching this I made a Lego stop motion using your tips thanks😀😀😀😀😀.
Holy cow I was a baby when this came out and great video
Man, this really helped me with the basics of stop motion
Stop motion is a type of animation. Cartoons are animations and ones like Star Wars the clone wars. They are 3D animations with the affect of a 3D environment
I have the same camera and a tripod and I'm getting into stop motion so It will run smooth.
depends what apps you use. If you use stop motion the app and iMovie you can make pretty good stop motions depending on how good you are at making them, but yes you can.
Thanks for the Suggestion
Awesome this was the first video that inspired me to animate
Yes, We would love to know what software you are using and see how you edit it. Great tutorial.
What a nice tutorial. I guess, it would be of use to put different lamps for light. The paper can actually get warm and later inflame.
Hey, thanks for making this video. It was very helpful. My daughter has shown interest in making these movies and we have already made one before watching any tutorials. Your video has some good tips for our next one.

I have a question you might be able to answer. I created a brick film about a video game using LEGO bricks. how do I
protect my work without getting in trouble from both LEGO and the video

Cool video. Thanks for sharing.
Do you drill your tri pod to the floor to prevent wobbling? And if you can't do this at home should you place the tripod on wood or carpet. Or does it not matter?
