    The Santee Rig is pronounced SANN-TEE not SAHN-TAY. My apologies on the wrong pronunciation.

      Chatt Cats Fishing lol At first I thought you were going to catch top water catfish, and then I thought you were being silly with the word Santee. Made me laugh thanks. You really should go fish the ole Sahntee though, it's an amazing fishery. I've only fished bass tournaments there but it's world famous for catfish¡😂

    Joe that looks like spook lure to me did he forget his float at home and got a bright idea to use a lure as a foat.

  • @rdo6566

    That "float" is absolutely a spook lure body with no hooks. I buy blank spook bodies on amazon and eBay for around 10 for $10 and paint them myself for small mouth bass. The bonus of these over a traditional float is they rattle.

    I've been doing this with bobbers and it works I like it. But I'm doing it from shore and I like how it does. Expecialy if your fishing were there may be grass on bottom or soft soft bottom. When the weight hits the bait floats above. But I like to have the bobber closer to the hook to keep it higher. If your bobber to far away. Your weights on bottom then the bobber say 6 in or 12 in up. If you got a hook 12 in long the baits bringing it back to the bottom. So closer the bobber if to the bait the higher it floats. But good video thanks for sharing. Can't weight to get my bait back going I miss boat fishing. Have a good weekend god bless

    With the deamon dragon if you take your leader line and run through the eyelets all the way down to the hook. That way you have one line to tie there instead of two

    A large foam peg float that slides on is a lot cheaper and doesn't require two knots to attach... if you like the santee, try the kentucky dropper loop rig sometime!

    You could try tying Palomar knots all the way around even on the Santee rig like that. All you have to do is tie the palomar onto the leader side swivel eye first then the hook, then, pull that through the loop in the knot for mainline to mainline side of swivel. Same principle can be applied to the rattling float. Just make sure you make a loop big enough to pull the float and hook through. I've been using a Carolina rigged all the way around with Palomars even with heavy line for a while with great success and no knot failure. Hope maybe this helps. Awesome video! 😀

    i like the rod holder you have, i am looking to build or buy one if i can find a deal on one. so that for a few trips each year i will take my bass boat and fish for big cats! thanks for all your videos, the only problem i have is i am a bass fisherman and have fished all the spots you are fishing but watching your videos has inspired me to buy a few heavy rods and line and terminal tackle to take my grandaughter (who is a great fisherman since 2 yrs. old) and try for some 100 lb cats, so on top of thousands of dollars spent on bass fishing , now i am spending hundreds to go a few times for big cats!

    i noticed a little pond i was fishing this morning in Rossville, GA (2) large catfish...for this small pond 6-8 pounds , that were in shallow water. it appeared they were decompressing...(bubbles coming to the surface)...is this a spawn thing??

    I hope I can explain this well.... The "hoops" on the ends of the float that you are tying your line too. In most floats they are just screwed into the hollow plastic and perhaps glued. How in the world are those hoops not getting pulled out of the float when a heavy fish is yanking on them?

    That's the first time I've seen that Demon Dragon rig. Are you worried that short leader from the hook to the bobber / cork has very little room for stretch / flex? My Santee rigs are 24"-36" and insert "worm rattles" into my slip bobber, the same rattles that bass fishermen use. The longer leader may be a little more forgiving. Keep up the great content....long time viewer.

    • @ChattCats
      @ChattCats  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good point with the leader length. I typically use a 15-20" leader line for my carolina rigs. This was my first time using the santee rig. I appreciate the pointers.

    • @DieterMelhorn
      @DieterMelhorn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you fish the Santee rig long enough, and let enough bites, sooner or later you start to see bite marks on the slip cork!

    • @jamesmcneal7228
      @jamesmcneal7228 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cat Daddy Fishin depends on the size hook to size bait as long as the barb is exposed u should be good
