The way that mihawk and the choreographers really didn’t limit themselves because they probably believed in The Boyz’s abilities??? Is huge. If you compare the camerawork of other performances to this, the stage is much more spread out and how dynamic the overall movement is is limitless!! They’re running all over the place
Yes. Mihawback knows the boyz can pull this kind of performance thats why he directed this way. Tbh i used to see mihawback directed sm artists' performances but this is just another level. The Boyz is super idol to do this masterpiece.
I’ve always loved Mihawk’s choreographies and directing style. Not sure if he participated in EXO’s Growl as well, but seeing The Boyz using this style definitely reminds me a taste of EXO, A TASTE OF LEGENDS

When you someone sees the video of the stage, they’d think it was done in multiple takes with multiple cuts. Because it can’t be humanly possible for them to be in so many different places and shoot this in one take. But THESE BOYS HAVE DONE EXACTLY THAT! They were literally running around every single inch if the stage. One mistake, one member being late for a micro second, and the performance would have been ruined. Idk how these boys can do something this incredible. I AM SO PROUD OF THEM 😭

The Boyz really used the stage and camera angles very well. all staff and dancers who placed and removed props in seconds are amazing too. and shout out for camera ahjussi and his partner running around following them and shoot according to the script very well, and camera PD who switches camera in time. Eric was right, numerous staff did their best for this performance. Whoever mapping this performance, you're genius. And of course, The Boyz who can pull off this stage is amazing. I became a fan!!
the boyz has been using the stage really well since the beginning. the rtk stage isnt ur normal stage, it was a horizontal stage where choreographers and artists are challenged to create performances that would look good on it and during the finals it was changed into this and i still dont get the structure of it lmao. watching their indiv fancams and this one shows how everyone + the dancers are literally everywhere. i find it cool how they would clear out the props and then get into the emotion and then dance can u imagine the amount of FOCUS you need to be able to pull off this kind of performance. mistakes can happen (in here juyeon's said to be fire bending once again i hope he doesn't blame himself afterwards tho) so when u commit one it can distract u so i really salute them for having such so strong mentality and professionalism. rtk helped them to be better performers so i say that in kingdom they might be facing bigger groups with bigger fanbases but the boyz has the advantage of experience from rtk they are already known for having iconic stages. AND eric said kingdom stages are going to be better and when tbz says does kind of stuff they actually MEAN it.
The whole moon, king, knight and thief concept had huge contribution all through out Road to Kingdom and yet here i am wishing to see these concepts in Kingdom once again.

I don't know if it's just me, but I find this full cam really satisfying. Imagine the full cam's frustration not knowing whom it should focus next. Also, how I wish I could see other group's reactions to this performance.
i'm never one who cared for performances/choreo stuffs... i'm more of a good song, live vocals kind of person. well, charisma is appreciated too. but The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom unlocked an entire new perspective in my enjoyment of a song, performance, stage that i never thought i'd ever encounter n feel as an oldie expired picky kpop fan who's already tired n bored n only still around out of habit while finding a few songs i like from time to time(actually, earlier this year i spazzed a lot abt Reveal n voted for it in charts i follow bcuz i liked the song, though i didn't really follow/stan them). n honestly this discovery of perspective got me shook at myself. it's amazing that during first listen, the song was just alright n initially not my fav of the five new songs though i could picture it'd be perfect for The Boyz stage in this show to follow the story they've told thus far in previous stages. but after seeing the performance stage, suddenly i couldn't stop listening to the song like...?? when did i even get addicted? it had easily surpassed song that initially was my fav. the power, impact n level their stages hold. i'm shook. mindblown(the common effect of their perfs in RTK) the crazy planning that goes behind their stages, to create story, even if it'll require crazy work n effort n risk taking from them, staffs, cameramen, dancers. so much thoughts n efforts n teamwork go behind every stage, i can't help but be in awe. n they literally put their lives on the line for their stages, that level of dedication n commitment. i don't think the other groups in the audience would be able to enjoy the stage as much though as things were haywire n messy in order to create this masterpiece n almost impossible stage on camera(which was the case with all The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom) but i'm certain they get to learn a lot from The Boyz stages on the art of performance n stage planning. even now i'm wondering what happened n how they easily changed my perception... before knowing i just got sucked into the story they crafted through every stage. i remember how i just roll my eyes whenever ppl don't like a song n kpop fans will tell you to listen a hundred more times then you'll like it. that's just ridiculous imo(n i still hold to my opinion). but this situation is even more amazing, where just watching a stage perf change how a song sound, not even a fancy mv... just a crazyass intricate stage that tells part of a story. n it changed the sound... not just a pretty perf to watch.... the wonders of audio n visual connection. it almost scares me... lol. Thank you The Boyz for the amazing almost unreal journey of masterpieces that kept making me ask myself if they're even humans... haa. (they better be). i'm a lil nervous for Kingdom as they've set the bar wayy too high, hope there won't be too much stress to outdo their performances from RTK. I'll be rooting for The Boyz for sure in Kingdom(i'm 100% sure none other participants would be my favs anyway lol, let's see if mnet will prove me wrong... doubt it) n thanks mnet for this platform for all the groups to show how amazing they can be when given a chance. i must say,all groups are really talented in different areas n did well, but The Boyz showed the appeal of genius stages with their cohesive storytelling on stage, n that's not something you easily find. i never thought of kpop to be enjoyed from this more 'intellectual' perspective n now i do, thanks to The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom. this is a really precious experience as a viewer, an exhilarating and satisfying journey. as selfish as this sound, i kinda wished there's more episodes/rounds so that there'd be more masterpiece of performances from them. though i must say my fav stage of the show remains to be their collab stage with Oneus - Heroine(which ironically is their simplest stage, but no less impactful) n my 2nd fav is probably Shangri-la(Quasi Una Fantasia).. i just love deep, meaningful, emotional stuffs i guess lol. but still i can't get over the genius cohesive storytelling in all of The Boyz stages, where it's impossible to just appreciate one stage, because everything is connected n part of a story told in brilliance of seamless blend of audio visual spectacle. don't mind me if i'm not making sense. The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom blew my mind i can't stop spazzing bout 'em lol. excuse my superlong incoherent blabbering. Congratulations (again) The Boyz, very well earned n deserved. everyone of The Boyz members, the crews/staffs, dancers, art director/choreographer, cameramen worked beyond hard to make the almost impossible stages happen with all their perfs on this show n as a viewer i feel very honoured to be a recipient of such masterpieces, thank you so much n more power to y'all.
This is so intricate and well woven. Like I thought the reveal stage was complex but looking at behind the scenes for Checkmate, I am just....wow. There is so much utilisation of stage and literally how they work around in behind the scenes. The stage is bigger so it could be difficult to use it but they do it so well. For instance how in the last dance part the members dance in 2 by 2 by 2 by 2 position with Eric in the center. And so much work going on behind the scenes like everyone needs to be on full alert and it's so risky.
Back here again in Jan 3rd 2021 to rewatch this stage. I mean, the whole performance is a mess (in a good way). If there was a small mistake, it would be really bad. But The Boyz and the staff are so calm to do it all. So many things that they need to do in this and the details are everywhere. I'm still so impressed by the way they create this performance. Can't even imagine. Looking forward to what they'll do in Kingdom. Sunwoo jokely said that they would do the whole circus in Kingdom but I have no doubt about it. Like Sunwoo will fly and pass 10 people :)))

무대를 보면 볼수록 느끼는건데. 맨 첨에 로드투킹덤 로고나오는 화면도 아래에 체스판무늬임. 통일성까지 고려해서 노래 만들고 컨셉을 만든거가틈~~~ 레알천재~~~
로투킹 로고화면이나 무대전광판의 무늬나 다 같다고~~~ 완벽하게 설계된 무대라고 영화보다 더 재밌다고~~ 더보이즈 트위터도 잘보면 로투킹 무대 훨씬 전부터 체스모양 이모티콘 계속써서 스포날리고~~~~~~ 미쳤다고~~~~~~~

The Boyz really used the stage and camera angles very well. all staff and dancers who placed and removed props in seconds are amazing too. and shout out for camera ahjussi and his partner running around following them and shoot according to the script very well, and camera PD who switches camera in time. Eric was right, numerous staff did their best for this performance. Whoever mapping this performance, you're genius.
And of course, The Boyz who can pull off this stage is amazing. I became a fan!!

the boyz has been using the stage really well since the beginning. the rtk stage isnt ur normal stage, it was a horizontal stage where choreographers and artists are challenged to create performances that would look good on it and during the finals it was changed into this and i still dont get the structure of it lmao. watching their indiv fancams and this one shows how everyone + the dancers are literally everywhere. i find it cool how they would clear out the props and then get into the emotion and then dance can u imagine the amount of FOCUS you need to be able to pull off this kind of performance.
mistakes can happen (in here juyeon's said to be fire bending once again i hope he doesn't blame himself afterwards tho) so when u commit one it can distract u so i really salute them for having such so strong mentality and professionalism. rtk helped them to be better performers so i say that in kingdom they might be facing bigger groups with bigger fanbases but the boyz has the advantage of experience from rtk they are already known for having iconic stages. AND eric said kingdom stages are going to be better and when tbz says does kind of stuff they actually MEAN it.

The whole moon, king, knight and thief concept had huge contribution all through out Road to Kingdom and yet here i am wishing to see these concepts in Kingdom once again.

i'm never one who cared for performances/choreo stuffs... i'm more of a good song, live vocals kind of person. well, charisma is appreciated too. but The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom unlocked an entire new perspective in my enjoyment of a song, performance, stage that i never thought i'd ever encounter n feel as an oldie expired picky kpop fan who's already tired n bored n only still around out of habit while finding a few songs i like from time to time(actually, earlier this year i spazzed a lot abt Reveal n voted for it in charts i follow bcuz i liked the song, though i didn't really follow/stan them). n honestly this discovery of perspective got me shook at myself. it's amazing that during first listen, the song was just alright n initially not my fav of the five new songs though i could picture it'd be perfect for The Boyz stage in this show to follow the story they've told thus far in previous stages. but after seeing the performance stage, suddenly i couldn't stop listening to the song like...?? when did i even get addicted? it had easily surpassed song that initially was my fav. the power, impact n level their stages hold. i'm shook. mindblown(the common effect of their perfs in RTK) the crazy planning that goes behind their stages, to create story, even if it'll require crazy work n effort n risk taking from them, staffs, cameramen, dancers. so much thoughts n efforts n teamwork go behind every stage, i can't help but be in awe. n they literally put their lives on the line for their stages, that level of dedication n commitment. i don't think the other groups in the audience would be able to enjoy the stage as much though as things were haywire n messy in order to create this masterpiece n almost impossible stage on camera(which was the case with all The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom) but i'm certain they get to learn a lot from The Boyz stages on the art of performance n stage planning. even now i'm wondering what happened n how they easily changed my perception... before knowing i just got sucked into the story they crafted through every stage. i remember how i just roll my eyes whenever ppl don't like a song n kpop fans will tell you to listen a hundred more times then you'll like it. that's just ridiculous imo(n i still hold to my opinion). but this situation is even more amazing, where just watching a stage perf change how a song sound, not even a fancy mv... just a crazyass intricate stage that tells part of a story. n it changed the sound... not just a pretty perf to watch.... the wonders of audio n visual connection. it almost scares me... lol. Thank you The Boyz for the amazing almost unreal journey of masterpieces that kept making me ask myself if they're even humans... haa. (they better be). i'm a lil nervous for Kingdom as they've set the bar wayy too high, hope there won't be too much stress to outdo their performances from RTK. I'll be rooting for The Boyz for sure in Kingdom(i'm 100% sure none other participants would be my favs anyway lol, let's see if mnet will prove me wrong... doubt it) n thanks mnet for this platform for all the groups to show how amazing they can be when given a chance. i must say,all groups are really talented in different areas n did well, but The Boyz showed the appeal of genius stages with their cohesive storytelling on stage, n that's not something you easily find. i never thought of kpop to be enjoyed from this more 'intellectual' perspective n now i do, thanks to The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom. this is a really precious experience as a viewer, an exhilarating and satisfying journey. as selfish as this sound, i kinda wished there's more episodes/rounds so that there'd be more masterpiece of performances from them. though i must say my fav stage of the show remains to be their collab stage with Oneus - Heroine(which ironically is their simplest stage, but no less impactful) n my 2nd fav is probably Shangri-la(Quasi Una Fantasia).. i just love deep, meaningful, emotional stuffs i guess lol. but still i can't get over the genius cohesive storytelling in all of The Boyz stages, where it's impossible to just appreciate one stage, because everything is connected n part of a story told in brilliance of seamless blend of audio visual spectacle. don't mind me if i'm not making sense. The Boyz stages in Road to Kingdom blew my mind i can't stop spazzing bout 'em lol. excuse my superlong incoherent blabbering. Congratulations (again) The Boyz, very well earned n deserved. everyone of The Boyz members, the crews/staffs, dancers, art director/choreographer, cameramen worked beyond hard to make the almost impossible stages happen with all their perfs on this show n as a viewer i feel very honoured to be a recipient of such masterpieces, thank you so much n more power to y'all.

This is so intricate and well woven. Like I thought the reveal stage was complex but looking at behind the scenes for Checkmate, I am just....wow. There is so much utilisation of stage and literally how they work around in behind the scenes. The stage is bigger so it could be difficult to use it but they do it so well. For instance how in the last dance part the members dance in 2 by 2 by 2 by 2 position with Eric in the center. And so much work going on behind the scenes like everyone needs to be on full alert and it's so risky.

Back here again in Jan 3rd 2021 to rewatch this stage. I mean, the whole performance is a mess (in a good way). If there was a small mistake, it would be really bad. But The Boyz and the staff are so calm to do it all. So many things that they need to do in this and the details are everywhere. I'm still so impressed by the way they create this performance. Can't even imagine. Looking forward to what they'll do in Kingdom. Sunwoo jokely said that they would do the whole circus in Kingdom but I have no doubt about it. Like Sunwoo will fly and pass 10 people :)))
