You know how there's ComicCon....well there should be a BandCon where band kids and adults could listen to concert music, talk about band, meet other kids who play the same instrument, play together, or somethin like that.....idk it was just a thought
After listening there's one thing I want to know.. Did ANYBODY in "high school" or a lower grade ever play this with their class? *And it still sounded the same!!!*
I did in middle school! I played 1st baritone on this, even tho I'm about to be a freshman in high school, also we played this in 8th grade Ahh, good ol' 8th grade times
My schools band played this when younger kids from other schools visited to see ours, and everyone was so hyped up especially during the building up parts
My middle school band (8th grade that year) was supposed to perform this but so few people in the band were interested that the director “let” us play an easier piece that we’d already been performing for the entire school year instead. It’s been over a decade now and I’m still not over it.
This was one of the first pieces I remember playing on the contralto clarinet, on loan to me from the high school (I was in 8th grade). It was probably my best memory - the start to learning a range of different instruments. Good times.
this sounds absolutely amazing. I'm so glad someone at school introduced me to this beautiful piece of art. Amazing 10/10. my favorite part is probably the shaker part or the part when it goes quiet and then gets loud. I love it
The percussion in this piece is amazing. I know because I actually am a percussionist if you believe it xD But anyway, I know the mallets parts are pretty complicated because that's what I play and you have to look at the music while playing the mallets so it's sorta confusing. The drum parts are essential in this piece.
I played tuba for this piece in 7th grade and you really have to pay attention to dynamics and the. I played trumpet for it in 8th for honors band and I noticed it sounded like a piece for a spy movie
KittyKat 7249 My high school orchestra is playing this for our spring concert. We're only getting 3 weeks (which is only 3 rehearsals) to prepare this and two other songs.
I performed this piece this morning, and it sounded very similar to this arrangement. I was in the horn section - I love playing the opening, but it took us ages to get it because we kept laughing whenever we heard the rest of the orchestra doing the sound effects! Just goes to show what fun you can have with a piece of music :)
We just got this piece for high school symphonic band today, kinda getting worried seeing nothing but middle schoolers commenting here. Probably gonna be too easy
Because the younger when this very *_complicated_* piece, mind you, is played, it's more of an achievement. High schoolers can play this easy, but for middle schoolers, it's more rewarding to tackle something like this and execute it beautifully than something like Anasazi or Up on the Housetop. Songs like Rites of Tamburo and Trepak (very fun piece to play for Christmas times, especially when played as a final wrap up after Waltz of the Flowers and the Nutcracker March. Hall of the Mountain King is certainly a tough piece, but also Sarabande--more of a solo act though, but just as rewarding). Only non-band members do not understand the feeling of the glory.
Just saying, this song was taken from J.W. Pepper. This is a symphony playing it. I love this song! I'm playing it next year! Can't wait!! I saw my school do a preformence on this, but it was the band that was in the grade above me.
i played this in 7th (??) and i’m in 11th now and it’s so fun to look back on pieces i thought were hard LMAO , time skip to now level 6 solos 😭 i’m a flute and i’m currently playing the swiss Shepard hAhAhA my fingers are broken
We had to play this for band when i was in 8th grade!!!! Hahaha we could never get it right, except for the flute parts xD good thing i was playing the flute:D nice upload!!
I'm a clarinet player too. I was second in the county and also tried out for all-district but got nervous and messed up on my scales and sight reading so that's why I didn't make it but i'm trying out next year. :)
My school band played this not too long ago. i played the suspended cymbal and the Cabasa, i was so nervous i would mess up lol. Surprisingly, we sounded very similar to this.
Why is the orchestra version in A minor while the band version is g minor? I wouldn't think the key difference would be any harder on the fingers for the winds.
After like three years of not doing concert band, this is the one song I would go back and learn to play clarinet again to do. Besides the Harry Potter soundtrack
love this song playing it in our Middle school band. I play alto in regular band, tenor in Jazz. might switch to Bari, or Tenor in High school next year
We're playing this in band, but our arrangement is in G. I think it sounds better in A, especially in the groove section. It's also fun to play it in A to freak out your friends.
this piece in the key of C. the other option is Bb. A is the note that this arrangement starts on, and G is the note that the other arrangement begins on
We almost performed this in Spring of 2020, but then COVID came along, and the concert was cancelled. Fortunately, I got to keep the alto saxophone part for this piece because that was the instrument I played in band.
You know how there's ComicCon....well there should be a BandCon where band kids and adults could listen to concert music, talk about band, meet other kids who play the same instrument, play together, or somethin like that.....idk it was just a thought
There's a TMEA Convention in Texas every year.
yes
I'm going to the UMEA conference tomorrow here in Utah - same idea
Ill cosplay a tuba or marimba lol
Honestly, yeah
After listening there's one thing I want to know..
Did ANYBODY in "high school" or a lower grade ever play this with their class? *And it still sounded the same!!!*
I did in sixth grade bc i was in the 7/8 grade band, that was a bit ago tho
I did in middle school! I played 1st baritone on this, even tho I'm about to be a freshman in high school, also we played this in 8th grade
Ahh, good ol' 8th grade times
hahahaha heck yes bro lol, I played the baritone
im in 8th grade, we learning this rn
Yep I’m in year nine
That anxiety moment when you are the one that needs to play that melody in the beginning
It helps if you don't feel
French horn?
Yes mallets
Our band didn't have a Horn, so as a Saxophone, I have that melody
The most anxiety youl get is when it goes fast💀😭
My schools band played this when younger kids from other schools visited to see ours, and everyone was so hyped up especially during the building up parts
Revisiting after 7 years due to my Band teacher who had us play this passing. Rip Mr. Frank Chlorie, Elko Middle, Richmond VA
I love the trombone part for this. Even if the trombone part is short, it's still pretty damn good. I'm playing this currently for Concert Band
Steampunk Elise I'm playing this piece for my pre festival

jbwwefan1103 I have first clarinet....I love it.....😍😍😍😍😍😍😍.
First clarinet part for this is sooo fun
My middle school band (8th grade that year) was supposed to perform this but so few people in the band were interested that the director “let” us play an easier piece that we’d already been performing for the entire school year instead. It’s been over a decade now and I’m still not over it.
that’s so strange to me!! i’m in 7th rn and this is our lgpe song

Carly no last name me too!🎶🎶
This was one of the first pieces I remember playing on the contralto clarinet, on loan to me from the high school (I was in 8th grade).
I love it
I played this over 8 years ago and I still come here to listen to it lmao. Great nostalgic piece!
1:01 is the best, most hyped up build up ever
any good ol flutes around? i need friends who play flute
yea
AYE I PLAY FLUTE
I play flute too, I'm playing this with the advanced orchestra, I'm in 7th (advanced band,I'm really good) Its a really fun piece for flute.
Lucky, it's not hard to find people your age who play your instrument. Try finding an oboe friend.
aye fellow flute
Oh gosh. Im gonna play this in middle school. Right now XD
Clarinet sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL here....but everything here does. It’s just a beautiful piece.....
i played this for concert band in sixth grade 2 years ago. definitely one of my favorites
Sixth grade! This is a grade 2.5.
God, I love when flue has the melody. It's so much fun to play.
The percussion in this piece is amazing. I know because I actually am a percussionist if you believe it xD But anyway, I know the mallets parts are pretty complicated because that's what I play and you have to look at the music while playing the mallets so it's sorta confusing. The drum parts are essential in this piece.
Yeah I play mallets on this piece too!!! They are really confusing. :D
abbeycatMC I agree......
abbeycatMC i’m playing timpani for this piece :)
Yess i do too
SNARE AND I JUST BRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRBRR
One of my favorite pieces to play....Clarinets all day baby!
I played tuba for this piece in 7th grade and you really have to pay attention to dynamics and the. I played trumpet for it in 8th for honors band and I noticed it sounded like a piece for a spy movie
It's sad to read the comments and be the only high schooler playing this piece.
KittyKat 7249 exactly
KittyKat 7249 My high school orchestra is playing this for our spring concert. We're only getting 3 weeks (which is only 3 rehearsals) to prepare this and two other songs.
KittyKat 7249 My high school band is playing it today because the Jr. High and beginning band are "Trash" quote band director.
KittyKat 7249 was just thinking the same thing as I read this comment lmao

That Guy's Channel i searched because my schools high school band went and grouped with 12 other bands to play this its a great song
I know it's almost been a year but I just now heard the tragic news. RIP Mr. Smith. Thank you for getting me through grade school band 🕊🙏
A mallet piece that plays during the entire song, and has melody!? Incredibly rare
I play the vibraphone on this yayyy cant wait to play this at my concert
My senior high school band played this in in New York in 2001. The good ol days! I was the percussionist. Kept the body moving-!
I performed this piece this morning, and it sounded very similar to this arrangement. I was in the horn section - I love playing the opening, but it took us ages to get it because we kept laughing whenever we heard the rest of the orchestra doing the sound effects! Just goes to show what fun you can have with a piece of music :)
played this last year, it was legit one of the best pieces ive done
Our eighth grade band played this last year, hoping that now we can live up to this in 8th grade if we replay 💪
We are a band, not orchestra. So we replace string with differnt parts each time, like violins for french horn, clarinet, or even flute
The first violin part in this song goes into fourth position.
Bob Th it’s right at the bottom of the violin
It's been 4 years since I played this my first year of band for my spring concert.
My 4th ever song played
omg, i remember playing this in like 5th grade and i still havent forgotten it 'cause its just that awesome :)
We just got this piece for high school symphonic band today, kinda getting worried seeing nothing but middle schoolers commenting here. Probably gonna be too easy
Just got this piece for band last Friday. My mind is officially blown.
Gonna play this for our concert (8th) as the marimba player! I’m hyped.
I'm playing this on trombone (band) and we have about 60 whole rests. Lol. I feel so loved.
I’m playing this as a first clarinet in freshman band highschool 4th seat.
what's with all these people stating what grade they're in , like ok what does that prove ?
Weird flex but ok lolol

Just saying, this song was taken from J.W. Pepper. This is a symphony playing it. I love this song! I'm playing it next year! Can't wait!! I saw my school do a preformence on this, but it was the band that was in the grade above me.

opener for our show this year :]
I play alto in regular band, tenor in Jazz. might switch to Bari, or Tenor in High school next year

omg we r playing this song for our band concert everyone loves this song too! :)
Lol, I tried playing along with this and it's completely out of tune with the music I got in my band.
Glitchex64 we play it so much slower in my band
Mooooooooooooood
This is way faster
It was likely transposed to a easier key for a band.
It's in a different key than the and version! Good ears though :)
We almost performed this in Spring of 2020, but then COVID came along, and the concert was cancelled. Fortunately, I got to keep the alto saxophone part for this piece because that was the instrument I played in band.
