The one left has to go through the heart break of all the sweet memories and love they still have for this person wondering why they left, begging the universe for them to come back knowing they won’t. They don’t want to become an afterthought, being brushed off of the person who they’re still in love withs heart and mind.
This song feels like the transition between not wanting to die to accepting death. It starts out very melancholic and carries that feeling throughout the entire song. But by the end, it feels like Joji and Benee are saying “I don’t want this to happen, but it’s happening anyway so we just have to deal with it.” It’s beautiful. Joji and Benee captured the feeling really well which is why it’s one of the more emotionally powerful songs on the album. If it had production like run and sanctuary, this could’ve easily been one of the best songs of 2020 and 2021.

This song feels like the transition between not wanting to die to accepting death. It starts out very melancholic and carries that feeling throughout the entire song. But by the end, it feels like Joji and Benee are saying “I don’t want this to happen, but it’s happening anyway so we just have to deal with it.” It’s beautiful. Joji and Benee captured the feeling really well which is why it’s one of the more emotionally powerful songs on the album. If it had production like run and sanctuary, this could’ve easily been one of the best songs of 2020 and 2021.
