  • Forgot to make this public...This is me messing around with the Alesis QS6, some LFOs and generative modules from ReaRack2 in REAPER, and a few different synths such as the CZ V from Arturia.
Use this for work, study, sleep, meditation, or in your own videos if you want. I found many of the patches such as "Spaceport" to be quite relaxing and chill. Hope you enjoy it!

I have an old Yamaha Education Suite (YES) Yamaha PSR-140 midi keyboard from the late 90s. Won't lie, still holds up to stuff like this today :) and with a midi in/out to USB cable, it's cool to experiment on the pc :)

That's a nice keyboard. Lots of overlooked 90s gear that are unfortunately not used a lot today.

Do you know if the QS6 has different sounds from the QSR? I have a QSR and I noticed on some demo videos of the QS6 that it seems to have sounds that are missing from the QSR.

Yes, there are a few different patches for some reason. It wasn't until recently that I discovered that. There are some patches that can be replicated on the later QS models, but it is best to use an expansion card/ Q-card that can do that. I transferred most of the patches from the Alesis QS6 to a sysex file that can be read by other QS synths. Using it you can get some of the patches that are on the QS6 on your synth. You can find the file here its called QS6 Bank 1,2,3 or something like that: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D5sY0rCtuwFJcovjYcEzyn9REy9s4XiN
For more info here is what I wrote on Reddit a few months ago: My Alesis QS(Insert anything other than a 6) doesn't have the patch I want. What do I do?
The Alesis QS6 banks on other Alesis QS systems are a collection of SysEx files I made manually a couple of months ago called QS6_BANK123.zip. With these files, you can replace your user bank with a QS6 bank of your choice. You can only use one bank at a time since it replaces your user banks and the other banks are "hard coded". You will have to use a program like MIDI-OX to send the Sysex file to your synthesizer. Remember to back up your user bank before doing this!
EDIT 12//19/22: There are some patches such as DreamScape and ElectroLuv that won't be a replicated correctly on the newer QS models due to those synths missing the required samples. You will need to find a way to transfer the samples off a QS6 and put them on a PCMIA expansion card. The QCards that are available may have some of these missing samples. The samples that are needed are: Cyrinth and Spectral2. There might be more that I missed but that's all the samples I know that are missing on the newer models.
Brian from The Frugal Noodle has a good guide on this: www.thefrugalnoodle.com/factory-sysex-bank-alesis-qs6-2-synthesizer/
