Started taking creatine aged 18, have taken it consistently for almost 10 years (I’m 27 in 3 months time). I am genetically predisposed to mpb and have in the last 1-2 years began to show some thinning of the crown and temples. I would anecdotally say that creatine has had very little to do with this. My mpb genes are the culprit.

People who haven't lost any hair generally aren't worrying about hair loss lol, it's people who have the gene by default. Creatine doesn’t cause hair loss, Creatine affects the hormone that causes hair loss. • @AZ-gs6hj
    @AZ-gs6hj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +238

The main take away is that yes it will speed your hair loss if you have the gene for male pattern baldness. Even working out increases DHT so that will speed it up too. Also eating animal products that contain creatine will speed it up. So many factors.
The people saying they haven’t had no hair loss are the ones with good hair genes. If your family got bald patches and receding hairlines you have a high chance that you will also get that as well. Creatine just causes increased DHT and what that means for your body depends on your genes. There has been no study relating creatine to hair loss, but there are studies that do relate it to increased DHT.

For anyone interested. I’m planning on doing an experiment on myself to test if I experienced hair loss while taking creatine monohydrate, so here’s the set up. I’ve currently been taking creatine monohydrate for around 3 months, but I think I may have thinned my hair just a bit, but I can’t really tell. So I plan on stopping creatine supplementation for around 2-3 months, and seeing if my hair gets thicker or if I was freaking myself out. After the 3 month period I plan on taking creatine HCl for a bit a see if the thinning still persists. Also gonna be tracking if I lose any strength or size
Edit: I’ve been posting responses but TH-cam is deleting them idk. Anyways I used creatine hcl for about a month with nizoral shampoo, which is theorized to be a topical anti-androgen. It’s hard for me to tell tbh. On the one hand sometimes I feel like I’m losing density, but sometimes I think I’m just in my head. Will continue for now. Creatine won't "undo" what finasteride does. Finasteride is believed to lower your dht levels by 50/70% (at least that's what I remember). But only around 10% of your testosterone is converted to DHT. So even if your testosterone goes slightly up because you're working out it won't be as strong as the impact of finasteride.

yeah, too bad the doctor missed the mark on this. We don't want to know if whey and creatine cause hairloss, we want to know if they worsen it. Also, I am still unsure as to why, according to him, being more muscular means having more testosterone. Is that always the case? According to this view whey and creatine are simply substances that make your body more muscular, but e know that there are several hormones that do the same without worsening your hair loss.

The majority of people suffer from hair thinning with age, gene or no gene.
I am in my mid 30's, I've been working out consistently for many years, and I noticed my hair thinning very slowly in the last few years. For all intents and purposes though, I have a full head of hair, which hasn't changed much in the last 5-10 years. However, I started taking creatine (about 3-5g a day) 3 months ago, and I lost a very significant amount of hair since.
I don't know whether creatine contributes to hair loss by aiding in the conversion of T to DHT, or by some other mechanism unknown to us. All I know is that it has unequivocally made me lose hair.

How much creatine in grams causes a DHT increase? If I lick a spoon of creatine is my dht going to rise to incredible numbers? No. Creatine is naturally found in meat so people have been eating this stuff for years. Obviously it’s hard to get the recommended dose of 5 G through food alone, but nobody knows if 5 grams is even enough to increase the dht. The only study that was done was at 25 grams. We don’t know what DHT levels will be if someone just takes the 5 grams a day instead of taking megadoses of creatine. 25 grams is absurd amounts of creatine. For a normal athlete consuming a diet with plenty of fish and red meat they may get 1-2 grams of creatine a day. So 5 grams is a not that much of an increase, but 25 is a very high amount. 3:00 So... basically, working out causes hair loss...? I can't seem to find a definite answer of "does creatine cause hair loss." Some people say absolutely no way and the 2009 Rugby study doesn't hold-up (where they experienced higher DHT but they started with lower DHT). Some, like this, say no but it does elevate DHT which causes hair loss (if you have the gene, which is the new thing from this video).
All I know is that I don't have a single bald or 'balding' person in my family - not one. I've been lifting heavy all my life, been on creatine for the last eight years and about 1.5 years ago, I started seeing thin hair in spots. I started using the hair crap (the stupid helmet and the minoxidil) and I 'think' I've paused it and maybe getting slightly better.
But... I'm REALLY wanting to get back on creatine because my strength is way down. I'm 5'11" 185 and was benching 315, 325 max... and incline bench at 245. Now I'm down to 245 bench and 265 max, incline around 225, 235 max. I'm BEGGING for someone to say, "No, there's no link... get back on creatine." But, I can't seem to find that.

  • @KaneNova

@@Awsme you just said 2 days before, just tell me what is the type of hairloss you have is it pattern type like patches of hairfall at a certain place on head equals a coin in area specifically?

Creatine does not affect hair loss. If your hairline is receding it's your genetics. My hairline has started to reced a bit when I was 21. I'm 27 now have been taking creatine for the past 3 years and my hair line stayed the same since I was 21-22.

    GREAT ROC vikram !!!
    explained precisely to the point.
I have experienced this practically when using creatine!!
When i go off creatine hairfall declines!!
