This is a much-needed change in the world of virtual posters. I do not go to virtual poster sessions where the standard single-sheet format is used. Mind you, it CAN work on a computer screen (but not a phone) if people would use more images and fewer words - but they tend not to. The solutions offered here overcome so many of the issues. Thank you!

Thanks, George!! And totally agree that the traditional dimensions CAN work on a desktop screen, and BRIEFLY (like, blink and you'll miss it) included an example of exactly what you said in a scene in this video (bigger images and fewer words), but ultimately tried to keep the focus on the multi-platform concept. Could do a followup one day with "If your conference still requires the traditional dimensions" good examples!

Another needed video in the long journey of making communicating science a priority and ... easier than people think!

Glad this was recommended to us for a conference this coming weekend. 🎉

That's a wonderful use case! Happy to do a free workshop for yall if it helps. The same concept could also export to LinkedIn pretty easily BTW, so you're reaching like 6 platforms in one go!

Hello! I love both your design ideas. I hate poster sessions for all the reasons you state.
We are trying to redesign clinic notes written for the end user (patient) and would love to pick your brain.

Oh super cool project! DM me on Twitter (twitter.com/mikemorrison) or you can email me at the address at the end of the first #betterposter video? Would love to help!

Academic twitter dying basically crippled my ability to get videos out like I used to. 😭 But AcademicSky is looking promising!

@mikemorrison8881 you promised research on the better posters. I've tried to find it through some kind of web page of yours but all I can get to is this and your twitter feed. Can you fill out more contact information? At least maybe put a home page in your video links?

Preprint on our first field studies dropped last Fall! Here's the link: www.qeios.com/read/P7N5BO Another study result coming soon as well on the poster accessibility (spoiler: big figures and clear takeaways were rated as more accessible).

With this I don't agree with u at all. These mice and other images will take more attention than the actual message of that slide. It may look cool but scientifically I feel it will confuse people more. But the style of presentation i agree perfectly suites for online but it looks more like an popular science article rather than an actual scientific one. You can call me an orthodox but I can't completely agree with you.

If it looks like popular science that only means that the author of that poster did a great job! So or so you can ALWAYS AND EVERYWHERE in social media link your original paper. So if some scientists are truly and deeply interested in your work, they can always click the link in the description and read the whole article. Otherwise science is and should be for common people as well. Because science is for common people. As more people will understand your message, as better! Researchers are not working for themselves. Researcher are working for all people and the world. And if some researchers are not agreeing this or thinking that science belongs only to them, such people should leave science immediately.
By the way, I find that cartoon mice very cute. Its always a breeze for me as a scietist (10+ years) to see some play and fun not only in posters but also in presentations. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
