River Nene and Fenland Waterways - Part 1

The talk covers the history of the fenland waterway systems in eastern England, with a tour round the currently navigable parts. We begin on the Grand Union Canal near Northampton and travel down the River Nene, across the Middle Level and around the Great Ouse system.
The presentation ends with a brief look at fenland waterways in south Lincolnshire and proposals for a new waterway link between the River Witham and the River Nene.
